Malls in general are dying, but on the day I visited- a few days before Christmas- it was packed! The traffic from I-95 helps too- if you are traveling through SC and need shopping, this Florence exit is the place to stop. Travelers staying in hotels also have store options (Belk, Best Buy, Dick's Sporting Goods) to buy whatever they may have forgotten or need. While Target isn't a mall anchor, it is just a short walk across the Belk parking lot. A lot of the typical mall stores I liked here have closed- Victoria's Secret, Express, Aeropostale. A lot of the newer mall stores are not my style but seem to be doing well for the demographics of this area. The Primo Pizza in the food court closed, but it still has Chick-Fil-A, Chinese Food, Charley's, and plenty of other options just down the road. What used to be JC Penney when I was growing up has been replaced with a huge arcade. I didn't go inside, but it's great that the mall has a place for folks to hang out, have fun, and be together, fostering friendships without necessarily buying stuff.

There were green and red lights on the outside of each stall to let you know which stalls were available and which were occupied. The lines moved very quickly. That alone makes it worth the stop when you're traveling with kids. Now, for my grandson, this place was like walking into a wonderland. His eyes lit up the second we walked in. Between the rows of snacks, the huge drink stations, and all the fun Buc-ee's merchandise, he didn't know where to look first. He was especially fascinated with the Toy section there were so many to chose from. It was a Saturday so this place was very busy. I heard Al Roker from the Today show praise the brisket sandwiches. I also wanted one but the wait was too long. We ended up grabbing some treats--beaver nuggets (of course!), 3 slushies,beef jerkey, candy bars, chocolate covered pretzels, and a couple of souvenirs magnets, t-shirts, Buc-ees water bottle and a Buc-ees tumbler he insisted we "had to have." I appreciated that there were plenty of options, whether you want something indulgent or a quick, decent meal on the go. What really stood out to me was how easy everything felt, even with a little curious little boy in tow. Plenty of space, clear layout, and friendly staff who didn't seem bothered by all of the people shopping. All in all, Buc-ee's in Florence isn't just a gas stop--it's the ultimate shopping experience. You must go atleast once in your lifetime! If you're traveling with grandkids, plan a little extra time. Carolina location. We selected Home2 Suites by Hilton based on overall reviews and our Kingsland, Georgia stay heading south was all of a 5-star stay compared to the Florence S. Carolina location. The staff deserves a 5-star rating as they were very polite and professional, but maintenance is lacking with regard to room condition. it could be that this is an older location and Issues would be relevant possibly. Our shower drain was running slow with a few inches of water was present to stand in, the kitchen electrical outlet breaker fault was tripped which took several attempts to reset, and the window blinds were allowing much of the buildings front lighting to illuminate the room to the point where we had to hang a sheet over the window. we were exhausted from travel so I didn't bother to complain to staff, and hopefully this location will take notice of our review and attempt to to to a better job at maintaining the room conditions.
