Great deck area with plenty of seating and even a BBQ grill

Swank and high end? No. Clean, comfortable, affordable with a host of nouveau amenities? YES! Tru can get my money each and every time. The room was scaled down but efficient. There were no bulky closets or drawers. Instead, there were plenty of hooks and counter space to handle a short hotel stay. Come for the affordability, but RETURN for the lemon shower wash! Yes, the shampoo, conditioner, hand wash and shower was are all MOUNTED on the wall (like a lot of hotels do). But that lemon shower gel was AMAZING! I took two showers just so I could bask in that post-citrus smell. I understand why it was mounted on the wall--I would imagine guests would take it if it wasn't. I am not going to tell you the brand name either, you need to check in to a Tru hotel so you can experience it for yourself. For $100 a night at a hotel in Florence, SC, we slept in a super comfortable bed with fluffy pillows, got a spa experience-type shower (thanks to that amazing body wash), enjoyed the summer breeze on the deck and had an opportunity for a hot breakfast in the lobby the next day. What more can I ask for?

Very new hotel. Right off the 95 which makes it easier to get to Friendly staff very clean and colorful hotel Rings and gym comfortable

I'm giving a solid three stars because it has a clean hotel, it has breakfast (although not impressive... They had automatic pancakes, yogurts, fruit cups, hard boiled eggs, bagels, toast and English muffins, coffee, and powdered eggs and sliced sausage) The dog walking area was very accessible. The reason I did not give higher stars is that the windows are not sound proof, I could hear traffic and trucks all night. The bed is hard a a rock and pillows are too clumpy. And the to top off an already bad nights sleep the train blared it's horn just after 3am!

We stay here every time we head down to Florida from up north. It's a hit or miss unfortunately. Sometimes it's quiet with friendly staff and a well stocked breakfast, and other times there's drunk rednecks walking around the lobby yelling while the front desk associate is nowhere to be found. The room is always nice with a great view of the sunrise if you get on the east side. You can't really beat the price either. Overall, if you are picky, I wouldn't recommend this hotel. If you are just looking for a decent place to stay right off of 95 then this is the place for you.

Tru by Hilton is their latest designer hotel with the millennial mindset traveler in mind, tech-minded, and design-savvy at a budget price, hmph I'm no millennial but I was a weary traveler needing a spot to bed down for the night, they're right off of the 1-95 corridor making the location ideal. They offer a digital key allowing you to bypass the front desk, I made a beeline for the front desk where no one was available so I continued on to the room. the hotel lobby appeared fresh, and modern with no odd smells, there was hand sanitizer placed at the entrances, and near the elevators, too. When I returned the luggage cart back to the front I spied the desk clerk had returned, I requested water and he pointed me to the snacks, and various beverages for sale, he said it would be $4.00 for the bottle, I informed him I meant the complimentary water for HHonors, he then went behind his desk and passed me two bottles, complimentary wifi worked okay. Neat hotel with a modern twist, indoor pool and fire pit lounge area out back, plenty of seating in the lobby to plug up electronics and surf the web, television also if you want to relax there, there's also a gym area and laundry room on each floor. The rooms are fairly nice, comfortable bed, the minimalist design reminds me of a dorm-style room, but it appears they just change the linen and moved on, the floors made of some laminate material were all scratched up and appeared to have been cleaned with a Hershey bar, the mirrors too, the not radio soap lemon sugar shower gel is joy-inducing, If you're in need of a decent place to rest overnight, it will suffice for the low price.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! Please - for the sake of God DO NOT , keep driving or stay next door at the Hampton inn. This place is FILTHY. Has it been cleaned since opening? Who the hell knows. Checked in around 9pm and got room 518 - room was absolutely disgusting. actual dirt all over the floors, looks like it hadn't been swept in years. Brown stains on wall near toilet (ew!). MOLD in the body wash container in the shower that they expect you to use. Sheets had stains, human hair and little black specks all over. Horrible smell. Went downstairs and asked for a new bedding set but they had none so they changed us to room 325. This room was bearable but also very dirty. The floor was so dirty that when I took a shower the bottoms of my feet were BLACK from walking around the room. We threw the pillows, comforter, top sheet and top blanket on the floor because they were all stained and used blankets we had in the car to sleep. This is by far the worst Hilton I have ever witnessed and being a diamond member I have seen a lot.

Great concept Hilton this is a great new hotel. Scaled down with rad styles. Large screen TVs, pool table, indoor swimming pool. Well designed, free breakfast. All kinds of food & drinks available for purchase anytime of day. I'm a Hilton Tru Blu believer!!

The closet is a bar with hangers in the open outside the bathroom.

I called for a reservation at the Comfort Inn & Suites (Hilton owned), but upon arrival, I was told my reservation was at the Tru by Hilton a few hotels away. The furniture looks like it belongs in a child's room. If Hilton was going for an Ikea look, they failed. The beds are uncomfortable. Ikea furniture is nicer than the crap in this room. It has a dormitory look and feel, which is extremely uncomfortable. TRULY is pathetic. I would be careful making a reservation through Hilton. Don't waste your money staying here. Such a disappointment. If I knew what this so-called Hilton Hotel looked like, I would never have chosen to stay but after 10 hours of driving, I had no choice.

    Uhhhh?!

We stayed here on the way to Florida. This hotel is Hilton's attempt at being cute and modern. While we did enjoy a few parts of our stay - the whole experience in itself, left a lot to be desired. We pull up in the pouring rain with a bunch of luggage... hoping to snag a luggage cart. I enter the lobby - I don't see them. The clerk says - oh, we have some but guests usually keep them in their rooms. Oh great. We get to our room - it reaks of cheap air freshner! Ugh! The room was decent - but had no coffee maker or microwave. The room has no carpet and the floor was gritty. The tv had a few channels. There are no ice buckets. I went downstairs to ask - and they are in the foyer. Oh ok - so the housekeeping wants to be lazy. We go to sleep and we hear stopping above us. I call the front desk to complain. They said they would call the room upstairs (room 403). The stomping continues - I call again to front desk. Stomping continues. I get up, stand up on the bed and slam my fists on the ceiling (I am 6'4) - the stomping stops for a few moments - enough for us to fall asleep only to be woken up by drunk neighbors. I understand this is not the hotels fault - but this is what we experienced. The walls are thin! The bathroom, the comfy beds and downstairs free Lavazza coffee were our favorite part of our stay. The bathroom was clean and modern and we loved the environmentally friendly soap/shampoo/bodywash dispensers (see pics) - however, I am a bar soap guy. I would have appreciated a bar of soap. We open the fridge to put in some bottled water and notice cups of Ranch Dipping Sauce from Dominoe's Pizza! Either these were left from a pryor guest - and the housekeeping didn't do their job to check the fridge - or it was of a courtesy from Tru -- free ranch cups in your room -- their treat! How gross and ghetto! (see pics)! The breakfast was just unappealing and yucky to the human eye. We slugged coffee and hit Dunkin next door for a breakfast treat! Oh - and for the stomping above us - it was a cheerleading team! The breakfast area was swarmed with cheerleaders. We really wanted to love this hotel - it was comfy and clean. But it had some defuncts. As a Hilton Honors member - I am honored to say we won't be back to Tru. It TRU-ly wasn't for us.

    Amazing services yummy breakfast

It was a last minute decision. I was On my way to Orlando and didn't plan to stop but got too tired to continue. Most of the hotels around were full but thank God for Tru which didn't disappoint us. Only the doors that are very heavy which makes noise every time someone from other rooms leave. Other than that, it was very nice staying at Tru. Very kind staff, GREAT FREE breakfast and clean stuff. Can't complain!

Disgusting room. At first I thoight this was a nice little room for an overnight stay. Then I discovered an apparent seamen stain on the wall next to the bed and a lot of hair on the bed - even pubic hair. Clearly this establishment caters to a very sketchy clientele. I am very disapointed with Hilton for allowing their standards to drop to this level. DO NOT stay here EVER! It's a biohazard exposure waiting to happen. Absolutely disgusting! If you don't believe what I posted just take a close look at the three photos. To top it off, the refrigerator in the room does not work and a school bus full of unruly kids is staying here. Of course Hilton is having "issues" with the feedback function of their website and I don't feel like waiting on hold for customer service so I posted this to warn others of this cesspool. Keep driving. Surely there is a more sanitary hotel nearby. Rest assured Hilton will receive a strongly worded email about the condition the room.

July 10, 2021 - TRU is Hilton's latest line of Hotels. We always look for Hiltons because we are Members. We wanted to stay close to I-95 South because we were driving to Miami. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT!!! Fly Like an Eagle. But, I will be a resident of Miami for some time, so I packed up the Truck and here I am. My reviews for a while will be down here in Miami. Which I'm not mad at. :) We needed a place to lay our heads, so we stopped in South Carolina. We were soooo exhausted. Arriving at 8:30p. Even got our food from Cracker Barrel (have a review on them as well) prior to checking in, so we could eat and sleep. We check in. Walk to our room. Open the door and the room was not cleaned. WHAT!! Called downstairs to desk. Told them of what we walked in to and she proceeds to tell me, "There isn't anymore rooms available. You'll have to come out the room so house keeping can clean your room." WHAT!! So we gather our overnight bag, go back down stairs to eat dinner. After about an hour, I go back to the desk to ask if housekeeping has cleaned the room. Housekeeping wasn't even notified of the room. WHAT!! 20 minutes later......... one of the staff comes over to us and asks if we'd like clean linen to make up the bed ourselves. WHAT!! And the bathroom I'm thinking. I truly could not believe those words came from her mouth. Minutes later a gentleman (maybe housekeeping) appeared to tell us, that there was a room that had been cleaned and they were going to put us in that room. I switched the key card and went to the now cleaned space. Besides the incredible bad service, I'd like to say that TRU is a hotel fit for young ones. The bare minimum is in the room. The desk is a long one taking up the wall that fits the TV, Lamp and belongings as well. The frig is exposed. The closet is exposed. Nothing like we've come to know Hotel Room should be. I wasn't impressed at all. Because they are a Hilton Hotel, the beds and pillows they order for their Hotels are extremely comfortable. Also they have this retro way of dispensing shampoo and conditioner in their nice shower that sticks to the wall. Soap and lotion by the sink that sticks to the wall and you squeeze out how much you'd like to have. That was pretty funky. In a good way. We checked out. I called the General Manager of the Hotel and to my surprise, she heard about our unwholesome experienced and she refunded us our money. She should have. But thank you for that. The continental breakfast is the same as all hotels. Maybe less then, but it serves it's purpose. There was this juice I had never tried before and after having two cups of that, I'm hooked. LOL Would I stay here again? NOPE! Happy Sleeping.....

TIP: Turn the knob all the way to the left to get to the hot water. Now let's talk breakfast - skip it if you like cool lackluster potatoes and eggs. The only saving grace is the coffee, instant oatmeal, oikos yogurt, and dry cereals. There are also a few places to eat up the road if bfast is important. TIP: If you go behind the breakfast area in the main lobby area, you can sit in a less crowded area near the business center. Check out was just as fast and easy. I'm here to talk about the subjective stuff -- the comfort factors that can make or break a night on the road. The king bed? MASSIVE. Basically a campground for two adults. Plenty of space, very comfortable. Now the nuanced bits. The room had more ambient light than I prefer -- tough to get it fully dark. The pillows were small and slightly lumpy, and the sheets felt thin. Shower water pressure was mid, and the hot water didn't quite reach my personal "steam therapy" setting. Towels were a 6-7 out of 10: softer than DoubleTree, but not as oversized. I do travel prepared, though. I've got an Amazon sleep mask that is straight-up lights-out defense. Once I put that on? Out cold. And just when I thought the sleep mask had secured the victory, two trains decided to blast their horns at 1:40 a.m. and 4:41 a.m. ‍ Bottom line: solid for a one-night stop. But if you're sensitive to light, pillows, or shower pressure like I am, those details matter.
