Hungry and tired of driving, pulled off highway 24 looking for some real food. Found Tess's Kitchen and we were so happy we did! Had the fried pork chop with Mac and tomato while my wife had the catfish with fried apples and fried squash. Just delicious! The person we hired to drive also had the pork chop and said one of the best he's ever had. Dessert was lemon meringue pie...homemade! Small stand alone building...looked like it was a home at one time...and just great food. If you find yourself on highway 24....really should stop and enjoy a home cooked meal. read more

If you're ever heading to The Caverns for a show, you simply must stop into Tess's Kitchen Cafe for supper beforehand. It's in a small, nondescript house. You kinda have to know it's there to find it. Boy am I glad we did. All the food is fresh made, down home, Grandma's kitchen type of food. Tess's Kitchen has THE BEST FRIED PIE! (My husband was crazy about the apple fried pie, I was crazy about the blueberry pie! ) They have this Southern feel inside the restaurant. They also have the best Asian Food I had in this area or county. Not only they have delicious asian and southern food, the price is reasonable too. Oh, they were so nice to cook something that wasn't on the menu! My husband loves Adobo, a famous Filipino dish, so he asked if he can have it. So they cooked it for him. It was delicious! I highly recommend ordering the Asian dishes! Our favorite is the chicken stir fry! Tess really rocked it with this dish!! There are some pretty good southern favs including the fried pies just like the ones you'll find at the Smokehouse but if you like stir fry, you will LOVE hers! My kids love it too! read more

Some of the best food I've ever ate! This place is a must try. We were in town for a weekend and stopped here for dinner on a Friday evening. I had the country fried steak, okra, and cucumber salad. My Mother took me Friday night, BEST FOOD, clean well kept country decor and very modern kitchen. Owners were friendly and made us feel at home.
