We have been loyal customers to Teta's for 5 years. We have even recommended this place to many people, yet with our recent experience we will NEVER go there again. Now we understand why his employees are always on edge and there is a high turnover rate. I tried a new menu item called the Chicken gyro. It comes double wrapped in paper (important to note). Because it was a new item, I opened the sandwich to see what all it included and I found long thick gray/white hair. I have black hair. It happens, no biggie, so my husband drives back to the restaurant to get a new gyro. When my husband explained the situation, the owner immediately got defensive and tried to say that there was no hair and he was just seeing the sauce. His worker had to point the hair out to him and pull it out to show him before he accepted that my husband was not lying. The owner then proceeded to berate his employees about their personal hygiene (none of which had the correct hair color - he does). My husband was not impressed with the owner's disrespect to his employees, so he went outside to wait for the replacement order. The owner then followed my husband out to his vehicle with the hair on a blackboard to somehow prove that it wasn't from them. He kept asking if he had taken bites out of it for some reason and generally was trying blame us for the hair. My husband had to get stern with the owner in order to get him to back down and GET AWAY from our vehicle!!! Again, the gyro was nicely double wrapped and the hair was tangled amongst the meat. There is simply no way it came from us. Overall, this shouldn't have been a big deal, yet his employees were berated, blame was put on the customer, and he offered no sincere apology or validation - just a bunch of excuses. We have never experienced such madness over something that really wasn't a big deal. It was a hair. EDIT AFTER OWNER RESPONSE: The hair was dry? So now your a restaurant owner and a food detective? I pulled the hair out of the food when I found it. You know, making sure it was hair and not something else. I then sat it on top as showing in the picture. When it was FOUND, it was tangled in the food. I opened the sandwich to see what was included because I don't like tomatoes. If it was dry and unassuming, why did you initially insist that it was part of the sandwich? Because THAT doesn't add up either. My husband walked out because you were yelling at your employees and he was uncomfortable. He is not a rude or confrontational man, so he left to avoid the fight and even then you followed him to resume it. Not sure why you think it would be a fun afternoon for a married couple in their 40's to waste a half an hour driving back and forth to pretend we got a hair in our food. We didn't even ask for anything. We just wanted a replacement. You did apologize several times, but each apology included an accusation and/or implication that we did it. That is not the SINCERE APOLOGY I was referring to in my initial review. Also...we have reviewed your restaurant in the past and HAD given it 5 stars on a different platform which we will be now changing. EDIT AFTER SECOND OWNER RESPONSE. My story hasn't changed. The only thing that is "different" is your inability to understand the difference between the meaning of a sincere apology and an saying "sorry" followed by an accusation that it was our hair. You are literally suggesting that my husband's hair made it from his office, into the food bag, between two sheets of paper the sandwich was wrapped in, in between the wrapped sandwich and into the food. That literally defies the laws of physics. The fact that you don't seem to understand that I pulled the hair out and that's how I'm somehow a liar is astonishing. You first blamed your employees for poor hygiene. You then started blaming my husband that it was his hair. Your story is the only thing that seems to change. You just want to place blame on everyone but yourself. read more

since you didn't seem to like that my wife made the review over her sandwich, here is my review about my experience. sam, you are flat out lying. interesting that this isnt the first review mentioning how you've lied. this is what harassment is - it is you!! this is the husband. i was there. you most certainly got after your employees about a hair being in the food and told them to "keep up on their hygiene" (paraphrase). the two workers seemed upset and went out of view to which you yelled back into the kitchen area for them to get back out there because there was "food to be made". then you proceeded to imply that the hair did not come from your restaurant. you did say sorry but sorry does not mean anything when you also accuse your customers when you're saying it. for example, you could be punching a person while saying sorry, but that does not make it an apology. do you get that? and no i did not respond to it because i was in shock on how you were acting. this is all why i went outside to the car in the first place. i would have let it go if it was not for you coming out to my car to continue debating with the hair!!! there is literally no way my straight blonde hair made it into a gyro wrapped amongst the food - that curly white hair as seen in the photo could not have been mine unless i went into your kitchen and made it myself. as stated (and you don't seem to understand), my wife opened the sandwich to check for tomatoes, found the hair, and placed it on top for the photo. do you understand that people dont generally leave a hair tangled in their food?? she wanted to make sure what it was! your harassment and lies that my wife is calling you names is you just trying to save face on yelp review. i hope the people reading this understand what a horrendous experience this has been for my wife and i and how much you have harassed your customers over daring to deny your perfect image you have established for yourself. this did not need to escalate. you keep saying "the video doesn't show it" to give yourself validity. that is convenient since you are only one with the video and no one else has seen it. EDIT: I'll do you a favor. I posted every response my wife made to you. All of this was said after you called us liars. She did not call you names at any point. Out of respect for your privacy I did not show what you sent her. Edit: i must not have read what? You hadn't made that edit yet. We posted the photos, then you posted what she said. Not sure why you're pretending you posted that response before our photos weird And yes, the owner of a restaurant who is rude to his staff, calls his customers liars, and not only sent my wife a response to her review, but also started antagonizing her on messenger. She had the right to stick up for herself after your multiple accusations and only met you with the same energy you were giving her. We say no thank you to bullies and liars. I haven't had better food, in Flushing, or had a nicer staff. I've noticed that no other place, in Flushing, with as many stars has as many reviews (7/25/2017). Any place with comparable food I'd have felt under-dressed, without a tie and jacket, like the time I ate at the Grill Room of the Savoy, also in a polo and khakis. The attention to quality ingredients, preparation, and guest satisfaction has a feeling of honesty. The only place, in Michigan, I can think of that brings something like this level of joy, from food, is maybe Pasong's, in Saginaw. It seems more than just a coincidence that both places are rooted in the love of the restaurateurs' moms and their cooking's influence. To start off our first visit, my wife, my 6-year-old daughter, and I had hummus with pita, falafel with tahini. It was obvious these were all made from scratch. My wife very much enjoyed the Gyro and my daughter liked her chicken and basmati rice. She also liked my lamb shish kabob, which also came with basmati and tahini, on the side. I had gotten the larger portion with hopes that my, typically picky, kid would try it. She giggled with delight; a rare response, but it was an extraordinary preparation. Perfectly crisp outside and tender and pink, inside. My side was tabouleh which lent a nice balance and was equal, in caring preparation, to all the other food we had,except that lamb. I'm going to go on about that to whoever will listen. We took some baklava home and enjoyed that, with the memory of a place I don't think we'll be able to resist, in the future. Teta's Grill is the best restaurant I have ever had the pleasure to not only dine at but also work in! I have worked in kitchens for most of my life and have not and can not say that about all of them. The food is made fresh daily with love and attention to detail. Being recently hired I was impressed on my first day just how fresh everything truly is. The lamb kafta, lamb shawarma, and Baba ghanoush are some of my personal favorites. The cleanliness is unmatchable and I don't think you could ever find more friendly, humble, prideful, and appreciative owners than Sam and Melissa. They are truly the glue that holds that place together and you can tell by the amazing food, attention to detail, and pride in every aspect of that business that this restaurant is their livelihood. They treat every person that walks in that door with dignity, kindness, respect, amazing food, and a little bit a humor. I am honored to be even given the opportunity to be apart of this amazing place. This is more than a restaurant with good food, this place is the embodiment of family and everyone that walks in that door will always be treated like such. When I was visiting my friend in Flushing recently, she brought us to this restaurant as it is one of her favorites. It was a beautiful evening so we sat outside. We were traveling across the country in our RV and this was by far one of the most delicious meals we have ever eaten both on the road and at home. Everything on the menu looked so appetizing and we ordered a lot of food including the sampler appetizer plate and shish and shawarma dinners. We were not disappointed as everything was so good. I loved the hummus and eggplant dips. The quality of the food, the spices used and the quantity surpassed our expectations. Oh, my gosh, I only wish my stomach was larger so I could have eaten more. I savored each bite. And thank goodness, we had leftovers that lasted a couple of meals. I had to get my husband to stop sneaking eating the food so some would be left for me. I must say that the owner and his staff were so friendly and welcoming and wanted us to be pleased. I highly recommend this restaurant. I really wished I lived closer as I would be eating there often. read more

This place is impressive and all aspects. I called for a take-out order and person on the phone was super friendly and helpful. When I got there, the owner Sam came out and introduced himself began talking about the menu. It's clear that he has a tremendous amount of pride in his work. It showed in the food. The lamb Shawarma sandwich, garlic sauce, and Hummus were amongst the best I've had. The lamb in particular was perfectly seasoned, tender, and Nicely matched the other stuff and sandwich. What stuck out was how I quality of the meat - normally eve with good trauma, there are random low-quality nubbins interspersed - this had none. Garlic sauce was also out of this world..If they made it in a soft drink I would definitely be all about it. The other stuff I had the race, the lentil soup or fully legit though they did not stand out as much as the other things. Teta's Grill was absolutely amazing from start to finish. We ordered the shish tawook, falafel, half order of hummus, garlic dip, and saffron rice -- everything was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The owner personally served us because they were short-staffed, and he made the entire experience memorable. He was friendly, funny, passionate about the food, and made us feel completely at home. What really stood out was how seriously they take food allergies and dietary restrictions. After we mentioned needing gluten-free and dairy-free options, he proudly shared the restaurant's awards and commitment to safe food handling for people with allergies. Teta's Grill is absolutely FABULOUS!! We ate there this past week with friends. I am French and Irish but have been eating Lebanese food since I was 14 year old. The food here was so fresh...made as it is ordered with loving care by Sam the owner. He told us how he only uses the highest quality meat, fruit and vegetables. He loves what he does and it shows. This was some of the very best Lebanese food I have ever eaten. The lamb melted in your mouth. The Lentil soup was superb. The garlic dip was the freshest and best I have ever had. Everyone at our tabled LOVED their food. The staff was superb also...Olivia was attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. The prices are verrry reasonable and the atmosphere is bright and cheery! Run, don't walk to Teta's Grill! While conducting my usual, and usually fruitless, search for a decent place in Flushing I saw the reviews for Teta's and decided to give it a try. What a great decision! We ordered a selection including the Teta-tizer, a gyro, lamb shish kabob and Gallaba and everything was fantastic. More than that, when I walked in to pick up the order both the waitresses greeted me like an old friend and then Sam came out to introduce himself and was as engaging, energetic, and friendly as you could hope for. Looking into the kitchen I was struck by the cleanliness, every inch of stainless steel gleamed! Give Sam a try and keep this amazing addition to an otherwise dismal local food scene around for years, you will NOT be disappointed. read more

This has become my favorite Mediterranean restaurant. Food excellent in taste. The owners friendliness and welcoming attitude gives you a sense of visiting home. The cook to order meals along with the healthiest ingredients and once again, "THE TASTE ", are fundamental to this hidden gastronomic gem. So, if you are on I-75 passing by Pierson rd make sure to stop by and get a whiff of the food but better yet, sit and relax while enjoying a true home cooked meal with the taste that not many chefs can repeat it. We stopped in this past weekend as we wanted to try a different middle eastern restaurant than we usually frequent. The owner, Sam, is very personable. He introduced himself, talked to us about his preparation methods and was very hospitable. Having traveled to Lebanon I know how important hospitality is to the Lebanese and Sam very much embodies this at his restaurant. While we waited for our food, pita chips and garlic sauce were brought to the table. Very delicious and something different from the usual bread and garlic sauce. Omg we had a wonderful first experience at Teta's. 7 of us had a family gathering and we had absolutely delicious food and the owner went out of his way to make us feel welcome and his care and excitement about the food made it a very fun experience. he explained the seasonings and let us try a couple of things. he called us by name and was very kind while teaching a new employe. The hummus was divine! we tried lots of different things... fatoosh, lamb filet, chicken shawarma and galaba, dairy free tzatziki, grape leaves and desserts. everything was amazing. we will be back to this hidden treasure in Flushing. ambiance was casual, and several people stopped in for take outs. very very clean! read more

I had stopped here for lunch and had the chicken shawarma wrap,the pita bread with garlic dip and humus are a definite must haves. The meat was seasoned well with plenty of flavor. If you are looking for quality food that is also locally owed and operated then this is the place. The restaurant is clean and has such a positive atmosphere. When it comes to the menu the options are numerous and unique. The prices are fair for the portions you receive. All food is made fresh to order and in a timely manner. One test of the credibility of any middle-eastern restaurant for me is the grilled chicken. I like grilled chicken that is moist and juicy while having a char-grilled goodness around the outside! I got all that here - along with the perfect spice blend to complete middle-eastern experience. Simply delectable. I also tried the falafel. I've recently started to eat more falafel because it's a great protein source. I make it at home. What I loved about the falafel here is unexpected for me - and that's the fresh taste and mouth-feel. I can't come close to that freshness when making it myself, and have never found it in the many places around the country I've eaten falafel. read more

This place has an amazing menu. I like the vegetarian and vegan options. I ordered the hummus and falafel plate. I am definitely going back and trying other menu items in addition to more falafels! I have to say, I am from metro Detroit. We have TONS of middle eastern choices and there are some REALLY great places. Having moved to the Flint area, the pickings are slim....that said, the BEST Arabic/Lebanese food is right in my back yard. Sam, his staff, the cleanliness of his establishment and most importantly, the food, are HANDS DOWN the best in the mid west. It is a much smaller selection and some of the specialty foods like fried kibbee, tomato sauce stewed borgul, quail...are yet to be added to the menu, but surely that comes in time. We saw this place while we were driving by. We are new to the area so we thought we would give it a try. We had never had Lebanese cuisine before and decided to just try the gyro's. We were not disappointed, they were not like the Greek gyro's we had gotten from our neighborhood restaurant in AZ but were very tasty and now we are looking forward to trying other menu items. We had phoned in our order so we were not sure when we drove up up the process was, we parked in the pickup spot and immediately someone came out, got our name and went in and out in a flash to get our order. Just stopped in for the first time today. Awesome! I will definitely be returning, as many times as I possibly can. The food is delicious, tasty, affordable, and everyone who works in the place is really good at their jobs. The owner, Sam, has more personality than most movie stars. The welcoming atmosphere, the owners personality, and the delicious food make this an absolute must visit if you're ever in the neighborhood, and maybe even if you're not.
