Tevam TROY LOCATION - My daughter found her dream prom dress is Tevam's "VIP Room" filled with "one-of-a-kind" dresses. We were not allowed to take pictures of any dresses in the room, adding to the allure. Fast forward to three days before prom, while she's at a friend's prom send...my daughter's friend is wearing the EXACT SAME DRESS! My daughter's friend also got her dress from Tevam in Troy! I called the store and was told that my daughter's friend must've come in, tried on the dress, and had them order it in her size. How the hell is that possible if the dresses you're selling are ONE-OF-A-KIND?!!!! Then the sales lady said, "we try not to sell the same dress to girls going to the same school prom." What???! The prices of the "VIP Dresses" are higher because they're "custom made". No attempt was made to remedy this situation other than being told, "I'm sure she will be beautiful in the dress. We ordered bridesmaid dresses and not only were they made poorly, they were the wrong material and color. They looked like completely different dresses. They had enough time to re-make them but they wouldn't. They said we take it or leave it. They said we covered our cost so you do what you want. HORRIBLE place. Stay clear. Wow, i dont know what the negative comments are all about- however, my experience with tevam dresses over the years in purchasing gowns have been great. They have always been friendly and helpful and I have purchased many dresses from them as well as many family members of mine and we have not had any bad experience to be honest. Scammed us of 500$. Pressured us to hold a wedding dress (that was already in store off the rack) if we put a 500$ deposit down and we can use that amount for anything in the store if we changed our minds. When we told them we didn't want the wedding dress anymore and wanted a different type of dress they changed their tune and said they told us"bridal dress" for the deposit, which is false. Then they changed their tune again and said that since we tried on a wedding dress the deposit goes towards wedding dresses when in fact we tried on wedding dresses and party dresses. We werent asking for the money back, we were just trying to buy a dress with the money they told us to deposit. They sell all types of dresses in this store... we walked out 500$ less and no dress. If I can give this place a negative rating I would in a heart beat. I went in here to order 4 bridesmaid dresses and was told that they are $190 plus $35 alteration that can be done at the same place. After getting the dresses and being in need of them to be altered which by the way all they needs was to be shortened, they put the price of the alteration up to $45 plus $3 for the shawl. After the dresses were horribly cut and taped instead of sawed For $45. The lady by the name of BASILLA is very unprofessional and a big time scammer. Only giving this place three stars because they have a gorgeous selection of wedding dresses for a decent price and over all my dress was beautiful but as far as customer service goes it was horrible and alterations done to my dress were TERRIBLE, the dress too long in the front so it needed to be shortened which is usually taken in from the waist... this woman FOLDED the bottom of my dress and sewed it like that! You could see a huge line and fold! I had to pay someone else to do my alterations mind you just a MONTH before my wedding because they refused to do alterations any earlier. They also "rent out" their used hoop skirts I requested a new one because the one they were trying to give me was dirty and worn out! So be very weary! read more

When I was looking for bridesmaid dresses for my wedding, I received a recommendation to check out Tevam. The first time I walked into the store I found a beautiful dress for my bridesmaids at a very reasonable price; however, when I went back the following day with my maid of honor, they gave me a completely different price than they had the previous day. I am not someone who cares about pricing (especially if something is worth it), however changing (increasing) your prices last minute to make more money on a sale is quite unprofessional.
