My husband and I were on our way from Fort Worth to Decatur, Texas for a meeting and needed to grab some breakfast somewhere. I looked on Yelp for a local breakfast restaurant and this place was just right off the upcoming exit so we decided to stop here. Man, we're we glad we did! Our waitress recommended the Montecristo and I have been seeing that all my life on menus but never had one so I decided to go with that. What a delicious treat... Homemade brioche type bread with egg, cheese, bacon and a form of ham that I had never had. All put together and lightly fried and dusted with powdered sugar. Served with a chipotle tasting raspberry type jam. (don't quote me on that because I'm not exactly sure that's what it officially was) The flavors were amazing! One of the best breakfasts I have ever had. For my side I got the jalapeño cheddar grits and they were fantastic - tangy and creamy! I bought an extra side of that to take home with me. As a matter fact the Montecristo was so big that I couldn't eat it all so I took it home with me and had it the next morning for breakfast also. My husband is kind of a traditional guy so he got the Belgian waffle with scrambled eggs and bacon and he enjoyed his breakfast also. Let's start from the beginning: the young lady at the hostess stand asked us to be put on a 5 minute wait until she got a table cleaned. In the middle of talking with us, she suddenly exclaimed "oh my God" and had a perturbed look on her face. I glanced behind me to see the concern and all I saw was a lady in very high heels. The hostess had taken time out of her job to verbally judge a random paying customer's outfit. During my meal, I looked over to the bar area where they were packaging to go orders. The same young hostess was quickly eating lunch over this food packaging area - running back and forth chewing away with food in her hand. This gives me a great deal of concern for the quality and safety of food packaging in this establishment. On to the food, which is so hard to write because I normally boast all day about their food. I went to texan diner with the kiddos for brunch and order the chicken and waffles while they ordered pancakes and other stuff. The order got messed up slightly as they forgot a biscuit and bacon, and hash browns but they quickly remedied it. The server even got to the point to remove a couple of items from the bill. This is the first time I've experienced missing items here but glad they did what they did to make sure we had a great experience. Please keep it up. read more

I ordered the special of the day, chicken fried chicken with jalapeño gravy over cheese fries and eggs and bacon. My friend got some cheese omelette with bacon and if I'm being completely honest... it didn't look appetizing at all. But y'all, this chicken fried chicken was GOOD! Honestly dreaming about it.
