RUN from this company. Any good reviews are very likely bogus or pure luck. I am about to file a complaint with TDI asking for an investigation. In my last few years with them they've allowed policies to lapse without follow-up and when I do reach out to my agent I get no response and then have to chase down someone. Each time I get the same BS excuse that my agents has changed and "I got lost in the shuffle". I've tried several times to have them renew a policy for me. I make some progress, then they stop following up. You would almost think it is there game plan. They should not have a license. read more

I've used Texan (formerly Hambrick) for 15 years. Hambrick was great, loyal and fast. I can only describe Texan as a revolving door of overworked, disgruntled and unresponsive agents in the last 5 years. Who needs a broker when they're satisfied keeping customers year after year despite being dissatisfied, devalued and disrespected -- especially when they continue collecting higher margins from increasing premiums. Every year I have a reminder to call and beg them to call me, play phone tag, and anguish over rate increases. Only to hear "well, everyone increases." DO YOUR JOB! Some increase less than others!! NOW, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR: shop your own insurance. What's your time worth? Perhaps you'll save 35% on a combined policy for one hour's worth of work. I know I did. read more

I have to update my review for Texan Insurance. Back in 2021 when I was a new customer, they treated me like a king. Fast forward 3 years, their customer service has gone from bad to worse, to unacceptable. I guess they are only great if you are a new customer and they are trying to get your business. Honestly, I don't understand why there are so many good reviews about Texan Insurance Agency. This company has gone downhill quickly in the past 2-3 years. They were great when I first signed up with them but after a year or two, their service has become unacceptable. Last year in 2023 when insurance rates were going up the roof, I contacted them for a reshop. It took them several weeks to get back to me, and they were unable to find lower rates for me. I don't blame them for that as insurance rates are through the roof all over the state of Texas and other US states. This year, I couldn't even contact them to do another reshop for me. I tried e-mailing multiple times and don't hear back from them. I finally called on the phone and got disconnected 3 times after 2 different persons came on the phone. I called a 4th time and the line rolled over to their answering service. The nice lady who answered the phone took my message, my name, contact information and said she would page someone for me. Days later, crickets, nothing. Please stay away from Texan Insurance if you don't want to deal with incompetent people and bad customer service. It's like they don't care anymore for my business and it shows! read more

I have no idea why this company enjoys such a high rating on Google reviews; they do not deserve it one bit as their services are mediocre at best. Expect email responses to take 2+ weeks. Phone calls are only returned if you escalate matters to a supervisor. For a service-oriented business, this is rather poor customer service. This is not how I like to do business. read more

Texan did not provide renewal quotes when my policy was set to renew. I emailed requesting new quotes 7 weeks prior to renewal, and again at 3 days prior. I did not receive a response from my emails until after 5pm on a Friday, 2 days prior to my policies renewing. I did, however, receive an automated email letting me know I would receive a call 45 days prior to renewal, but I never received a call. I finally received the quotes on a Friday evening after 5pm, two days prior to renewal. This was not enough time to review these quotes as I had just minutes to decide. My auto policy rolled over into the next plan year and I was unable to cancel as Texan Insurance had not provided new quotes. Also, since I was using an agent, the auto policy carrier would not deal with me, I had to strictly go through the agent. Once I did cancel after finding a more reasonably priced policy, the insurance carrier assessed a "plan fee" of $65 due to renewing and canceling mid-plan year. This fee is normally assessed at the beginning of the plan year and pro-rated monthly, but when the policy is canceled prior to renewal the fee is assessed at 100%. The carrier charged me the full fee, even though I canceled within 3 days after the plan year start. Texan Insurance refuses to take responsibility for them dropping the ball and will not reimburse the fee, even though the fee could have been avoided had Texan Insurance sent new quotes in a timely manner. read more

It was time to renew my auto/renters insurance policies and I did some shopping to see if I could get a better deal. I found Texan insurance and decided to pay them a visit. About 45 minutes later, I walked out with lower annual premiums saving myself a couple of hundred dollars and actually buying a little more protection at the same time. A couple of weeks later, I called with a question and found that the agent that sold me the policies had left a couple of days after my visit. However, their customer service team promptly helped me with my question so no worries. I give a 3 because I have been satisfied with my purchase and service so far but don't have enough reason to give a 4 yet. If that changes, I will update this review. Bad customer service. Had a policy, it got cancelled and I had already paid $600. the letter I received from actual insurance company said I am entitled to a refund. I've called and called and no one ever calls me back. Just an "answering service". Never work with these brokers. read more

Caution!! Texan has been billing us for over 2 years on cars we no longer own. They did not communicate when our policy was set to renew, via email or phone. I randomly received an email about our policy updating and thought it was a mistake.. glad I looked into it! They were helpful when I tried to explain to them our issue... but major lack of communication on their part. Also note, the company was sold and we were not made aware of the change. Prior to selling, we typically received decent service and communication. Would not recommend!! read more

Unprofessional, rude, and unethical. I used Texans Insurance for a Home Insurance policy with Fed Nat that became a complete disaster upon renewal. I found a better policy with another company and notified Texans of my termination. They REFUSED to cancel my policy and required I waive my rights by signing a special form. I was forced to bring in legal support to finally get my policy cancelled. This is a TERRIBLE company!! read more

Whatever you do, DO NOT utilize this service for homeowners insurance. They purchased Pat Elzey Insurance for homeowners insurance and do not know what they are doing. They secured a policy on my mailing address rather than my home address. They clearly do not help their clients and do not pay attention to details. read more

Told their office numerous times that I am not renewing with the insurance company they recommended because they raised rates by 65%. Yet the incompetent Lilia or whatever did not process my request. They do not know what they are doing, bait and switch and so many people have their hands on your policy none of them know what the other is doing. superficial friendly, severely incompetent. I had Mabel helping from Texan insurance and did a fantastic job. I almost re-calibrated by insurance thrice and she had been of great help always. All i had to do is just send out an email and it was done. Also for queries I never called up the customer care, in fact she proactively used to call the insurance company and get the info for me.
