Undisclosed Cost of Coolant - $828 During the visit, the technician informed me that the coolant in my units was a type no longer manufactured and that topping it off would be "expensive." However, I was never provided a clear price--verbally or in writing--prior to the work being done. To my surprise, I was presented with a charge on his iPad of $828 for this refrigerant "top-off". Definitely a sticker-shock moment. Furthermore, this was the only amount shown to me on the technician's iPad, and the amount I signed for (reluctantly). At no time was I told: - How much coolant was being added - The cost per pound I find it unacceptable that such an expensive service was performed without a single written or verbal quote in advance. The technician did an excellent job executing his upsell pitch, offering a long and urgent list of recommended repairs and upgrades--ultimately leading to a suggestion that I should replace both units entirely. While I understand maintenance work often reveals other issues, this kind of high-pressure upselling without clear pricing only compounds my concern. -- Charge for "Star Member" Program - Additional $360 After the technician left, I received an email invoice showing a new total of $1,188, which now includes a $360 charge for a 'Star Member' maintenance plan. While I expressed interest in a year long maintenance agreement over the phone when I set this appointment, I never: - Signed any document agreeing to it - Authorized the charge in any form Adding this to my invoice after the fact--when I only signed for the $828 refrigerant work--is a serious overstep. Now, 24 hours later, my upstairs A/C unit no longer cools. Just blows hot air. Now I suspect sabotage to further coerce me to spend more money with them. No way. You have been warned. read more

So yesterday 07/17/2023 our a/c decided to stop working at a cool 104 degrees outside. The saying goes who you gonna call, well I called Texas Air Zone that's who at 8:00pm. Temperature in the house was 85.5 degrees. I talked to their after hours call center and told them the issue and arranged for a tech to come out that night. At 9:10pm I got a call that the tech was on his way. Carlos arrived and began the repair, within 30 minutes a/c was back up and working and he was on his way. So disappointing, called three weeks ago to set up an appointment for a new roof top quote. Time was set between 8-10. Specifically picked today because I fly between Philly and Dallas for the multiple projects I run. Was assured someone would be on site. Today I am told "we looked up your building and we do not provide quotes for your type of ac because your building is multiple stories" sounds like someone didn't do their homework when I called weeks ago and decided to jam me up the day I needed this quote! I used Texas Air Zone through one of their plans for my townhome for a year. Service was okay but the prices were insanity. I had somebody come over who said I had a leak and quoted me more than $2,600 to fix it, which was about the cost of replacing that particular unit. I shopped the quote with a number of other repair people who said they could do it for no more than about $1,400. So while they are courteous and competent, if you want to avoid getting ripped off, I'd use somebody else. They also put no notes on the cause of the leak and seemed mad when I asked for notes about it at a later date, and said, "If you had used us to repair it we'd have those notes". So the level of service you get also seems to be aimed at whether you're okay paying almost double for the repair through them. read more

They were out this morning for routine maintenance. After telling me everything looked good and leaving, my system started throwing errors. I called the office and was told someone would call me back in a few minutes. At 4:45 and not hearing, I called again. I was told that I was on standby and that they were busy and they don't know if it was something they did for the unit to stop working. I called again after checking how hot it was. I got someone else who treated me like I was irrational for wanting them back out and thought the previous person told me something different. She said she would listen to the calls. She called me back to tell me they were getting him out there and refunding my service call and canceling everything out. The guy showed up and said he forgot to hook something back up and even said he should have been sent back here immediately. I appreciate the tech. For the people that answer the phone, you caused a lot of unnecessary frustration. If you tell people that you are going to call them back, do it. Don't tell people you are busy when the failure started immediately after you were here. Things happen like this. read more

These folks did a tremendous job for us. We called for an estimate on an overhaul of our indoor unit and ductwork, which we figured was old and causing us to have heating/cooling issues. Multiple other services had checked it out and given us estimates in the week prior. Roy and Drake reviewed everything, and ALSO found a major issue in the ductwork, in a (very) hard-to-reach corner of the attic, and fixed that issue within an hour. Now, a bedroom that was getting very little air is getting full air and has become livable again. We no longer believe we need an overhaul of the system. This duct problem apparently had existed for some time, and was NOT discovered by the three previous professionals, which included a couple of major names in the business. I woke up to a dead thermostat, and after some quick efforts to google and troubleshoot, I couldn't fix the issue. I called Texas Air Zone, per a recommendation from a neighbor, and they arrived within a couple hours. The technician, Brett, was very courteous, honest, and professional, and he fixed the issue quickly. Our HVAC drain line was clogged, and he unclogged it then installed a valve that enables me to clean out the line in the future. He also gave some recommendations to ensure our system would continue working well throughout the hot Texas summers. I called them after 6 pm on Saturday because I was worried my AC was going out. They took my information and said a technician would call me back. He called me about 15 minutes later and I explained my situation. He assessed the issue over the phone. The temperature was over 100 degrees outside my unit was working. I just panicked for nothing. A representative called me Monday morning to follow up and asked if my AC was working and if I needed them to come out. That's impressive! Last week, our a/c stopped working over an electrical issue and we called Texas Air Zone. The technician quickly found an electrical short at an old splice. Then he went to the condenser outside, came back in and said we prob needed 6-7 pounds of freon, at $50/lb. Since the a/c had been blowing cold before and that was a lot of money, my husband decided to hold off. My husband had become immediately suspicious of the entire exchange. There was something very fishy about how the man was going about his statements about our needing more freon. As soon as the guy left, my husband called me and told me about it. Within a few days, our a/c stopped keeping up altogether. We had a different company come out, one that had been recommended as being very honest and fair (Frank's Heating & Air). I asked him to test our system for leaks. After checking our tubing visually, using a gas detector, checking all the visible solders, and after measuring no immediate loss in pressure after freon was added, he said there were no obvious leaks in the system but that we should just observe as changes in performance to be sure. He also had integrity enough not to want to speak poorly of our previous service company, despite all my questions. I told him what the previous company (Texas Air Zone) had said about how many pounds of freon we would need and he said it was not usually something you can just say, that you should really should measure what is put into the system. He did mention, though, that the fill connections didn't have any caps on them, which I thought was strange. Ultimately, we needed 6 lbs of additional freon, which is quite a bit for a system that had no obvious leaks and that was blowing fine just before our visit from Texas Air Zone. It is my suspicion that the Texas Air Zone technician released the freon from our system, and had assumed we would agree to let him top it off. I strongly recommend using caution when using Texas Air Zone and keeping a close eye on the technicians when they are working on your system. read more

Texas Airzone Short review Texas AirZone installed 2 HVAC units (complete system, including ducting, condenser outside, furnace and coil inside and new thermostats 5 days ago. First the estimate: Chris (co-owner) was my first interaction with the company for an estimate on the new systems. He showed up on time. He's super professional, very personable, respectful, and all around nice-guy. He went above and beyond. He found things that no other company had mentioned or offered. He didn't have to do this, but he actually went through 2 crawl spaces with his nice clean shirt to find out if it's possible to do the kitchen A/C's new vent. Then as promised a day later I received his 20 page plus estimate with 4 options on systems. Range in price was reasonable and the choices all made sense and allowed me to compare efficiency and price on these multiple different units. In the end I choose a middle of the road system, and on his recommendation I feel like I made the right choice. It was painless. Their price wasn't the lowest (but close) but was very reasonable and for the amount of work that the installers did, it was probably the best value out there. Off to the installation: Pablo called me and set up a time to arrive which he was on time. He's the head installer. It took 2 days since I had so much duct work and extra work that needed done. Pablo is very knowledgeable. He's a nice guy, and takes significant pride in what he does. He enjoys his work and it shows. I wanted an easier to move-around-attic. I wanted better air flow. I wanted some ducts moved around. I wanted it done right. But I had no expectation of what I saw when I came back home at 3 pm that first day. It was a huge surprise. My attic was now open. I had so much more access. I know I told him that I trusted him and I just wanted an open attic and whatever he thought would be fine. But I only had pointed to 2 or 3 ducts to be moved. He moved most of them. Wow, what a difference. I had not expected the amount of work he had already done. And this was day one. And low and behold, I had new steps in my attic and he had made a new platform and walkway. I almost couldn't recognize my own attic. Seriously, I don't remember any of this on the contract (and not a cent more was charged for all this extra work). And then the 2nd day, more of the same, walkway extended, hand rail installed for easier walking up to my attic, new vent placed with roof flashing. He (and his team) didn't have to do all this extra work. But that's how Pablo is. Pablo goes above and beyond what's asked of him. No one at Texas AirZone asked me to write this review but I think to help my fellow Yelpers, I want everyone to know that in Dallas, TX, there's no company that I trust more with my HVAC than Texas AirZone. I will update as I get my first service but I will expect nothing less than superb twice a year service from this company. I know I won't have to worry about my system, easily for the next 10 years but because of the care that Pablo took with everything, and installing everything not only to code and to manufacturer's specification and instructions but going above and beyond, I expect my new systems to be problem free for much more than 10 years. I know that Texas AirZone, Chris and Pablo and whomever I work with in the future will go above and beyond what I expect of them and they'll do it, because they think it's the right thing to do. I don't know if they made a whole lot of profit doing all this work for me (it couldn't be that much), but they have made a customer for life and I will make sure all of my friends and family members use them for any of their HVAC needs in the future. Speaking of that I had a friend visiting from out of town this weekend and he was so impressed by their work that he's asking me if they do any installations in Houston. Not sure, but I will ask. I never met Gary, the owner, but if I ever do, I will shake his hand, and tell him what a gem of company he has created, what a great guy Chris (co-owner) is, and how amazing Pablo is. Great company and great people. They installed a new system for me 3 years ago and have serviced it ever since. Other companies offered new units, but Texas Air Zone took the time to show me how a new unit wouldn't fix the whole problem and that I also needed new ducts and returns. I had the panic of waking up to a house that was getting warmer instead of cooler on a day that was supposed to get 106. After a few frantic calls, someone from Texas Air Zone called me back. Said someone from the office would get back to me after they opened at 8. By 8:15, the pleasant person at their office called to let me know that someone could be there that day at 1-1:30! The technician (Gary, I believe), showed up right on time and quickly diagnosed the problem/potential problems. He cleaned my outside condenser, check all the levels, checked the inside unit and we discovered that the Nest thermostat was causing a delay/shut off. It was missing the common wire, which he was able to run from the attic. It took a while, but I felt like he was very thorough and got the job done correctly. This morning, he called to make sure things were still working! They're in my contacts list now...I plan to use them for regular maintenance as well as any issues that may come up in the long run. Never expected my day would've had such a pleasant (and cool) outcome. Certainly appreciate the courtesy and expertise that everyone there showed...especially when I'm sure it was a super busy day with the heat being a record high! read more

I have my AC units serviced by Texas Air Zone for the past 4 years. Their technicians are the best. Very friendly and fair. The compressor fan on my old unit went out last year and instead of charging me $500 to replace it they showed me where to get a new one and install it myself. It was an easy fix and saved me a ton of money. This year my 20yr old unit went out and they replaced it with a new one. Chris and his crew did an amazing job. They were clean and quick. Along with giving me a fair price on a great unit they cleaned up the attic and it looks amazing. I can't recommend these guys enough. Also, Isaac was very professional and did a good job of quickly diagnosing the problems and then explaining what we needed and why, the differences among the system makes and models, and what worked with our Nest thermostats. He spent time making sure that we got both the utility company and HVAC manufacturer rebates or incentives. He was always very responsive to and patient with my many questions. Finally, the installers did each job within a day's time, did a great job each time, and left little or no debris.
