In terms of securing a contractor and as a standard of practice, I would never suggest just getting one quote, but in this rare case I can state unequivocally a person can exclusively select Texas Best Flooring Company and not have to look elsewhere. It encompasses many steps to do it correctly and it is a trade that requires precision. These guys did such an AMAZING job on my floors, and I seriously can't believe they met my deadline. I recently bought a house and wanted to get the old, terrible laminate / tile replaced with the "hardwood" tile that I'd seen in my friend's new build house. (Yes, I fell in love with her tile and totally copied it, but she gave me the details so there!) Anyway, I obviously went to Yelp to find a good company and I had a couple of people give me estimates, but the second I met David I knew he was the right guy. Not only did he ACTUALLY MEASURE every room, but he was also talking to me about what my concerns were. I explained the timeline and he assured me he'd meet it, and he also talked about how to properly install tile so that it lasts a long time. The thing is, his estimate was higher than the other two bids, but his numbers were also more accurate AND he explained the reason why each item was needed (whereas the other guys had left off the primer for the slab and the leveling stuff which I'm sure they would have tried to charge me for later). Onto the job, the guys were so careful with my home, didn't damage the walls or doors or anything. Kept the area so clean, and really took their time with their work, even with my deadline. That meant they were often working 12+ hour days, and they were still so kind when I showed up. Noe was the site manager I had and he was so friendly and helpful. Everyone on staff gave me their cell phone number and was super responsive when I had questions (which I always do because I'm nosy as hell on jobs like this). At the end of the day my floors are GORGEOUS, and my friends and family are in love with how the new floors transformed the look of the house. These floors are so freaking perfect that I was able to slide a freaking credit card across the tile (David challenged me to do it, so I obviously did). I also decided to upgrade the baseboards and those are beautiful too. In addition, the previous owners had some pet damage that was really bad on the carpet in one room so David was able to handle that replacement too. The carpet went so smoothly that I think I'm just going to have them replace the other rooms too in a few months! OH! I almost forgot to mention that when the tile was done there was a gray haze on the tiles from the grout and when I mentioned it to David he came out and hand-cleaned the tiles with this special acid-free stuff so that the new grout wouldn't be damaged. I really wish there were more contractors like this out in the market who take the time to learn about their industry and work hard to go the extra mile for their customer. Excellence. That's the best one-word summary I can provide. Josh and crew did an AMAZING job of laying out the Herringbone pattern through our dining room and living room - then turning the pattern (as I requested) in the entry hall. Every board had to be laid by hand, and then cuts made to fit the boards in the room. It almost looks like the boards were made specifically for my rooms, based on the way Josh made them fit. (And somehow, he was able to preserve the shoe molding so that it could be re-attached without a break!) Further, they were so NEAT! The crew cleaned up at the end of every day - and we could comfortably continue to live in the house. Noe coordinated everything, with help from Haley (on the phone ;-) Beyond preparing the initial quote, Noe also got the wood into the house from the delivery truck, and he matched the end caps on the stairs to the flooring. He installed shims under the carpet (where it met the slightly higher wood floor) so the transition is seamless. A perfect and complete job - exactly as contracted. We are absolutely delighted with our new floor! We recently purchased a house that was built in the 1980s that had a sunken floor in the living room. (Apparently sunken floors were a thing back then.) We wanted to raise the sunken floor so that it was level with the rest of the house and replace the carpet in all of the common areas with hardwood flooring. David built a substructure in our living room that aligned perfectly with the height of the floors in the surrounding areas, and his crew covered it with beautiful clear white oak. Then they stained and finished it over a weekend while we were away allowing time for the floor to dry. We couldn't be any happier with the results! David, Hailey and their crew did a great job on my house. They did the hardwood , tiles, back splash and fireplace. David explained the process to me and encouraged me to do some research on the right way to lay down flooring. He took the moisture readings and fix any area where the readings were borderline or above before laying the tiles. I wanted tiles laid a certain way in the kitchen and he was happy to accommodate that. David is not the cheapest nor was he the most expensive but the end results is well worth the price. I would definitely recommend him with no hesitation. At the end of the job, David and Hailey came by and work during the night to clean up the house. His crew were great as well. We were supposed to lay down quarter round but his crew decided to take out the base board before laying the floor and reinstalled the base board after. Okay - you guys.... if you need flooring done at all.. you HAVE TO CALL TEXAS BEST FLOORING!!!! but seriously! Start to finish everything was easy - didn't have to worry about anything. They were super fast to respond to my initial request, less that an hour and I sent the request through yelp fairly late in the evening. David came and gave us our quote explained everything to us in detail (both positive and things that could happen to prepare for ie if we needed to replace some of the floor) answered all our floor questions and then some. (FYI he's a contractor too which worked out for us as we bought a home that needs a little more love) We were in a huge time crunch to get everything done before we moved into our new home. We called on a Monday, he was able to meet us Thursday, we signed on Friday. We had a week in-between to get a few other projects done (we painted and weren't especially careful with the floors) Noe and his crew were there the next week and it took them one day to get everything sanded and the first coat of stain on. Even with just one coat of stain it looked a MILLION times better! Who knew we had beautiful floors under all that grime! All in all it took them three days to do everything, and two days for our floors to dry. David explained how to best care for our floors and I couldn't be happier. If you read my other reviews, you'll see I pride myself on being fair and balanced and leave mostly very positive feedback. I don't like giving 1 star reviews to local businesses. That being said, I wish I had paid more money for a quality job. David is a salesman - period. He then chooses from other flooring companies to get the work done, so what he promises and what you are delivered are not the same. Our house was built in 1996, so I was thinking this should be a fairly simple job. Our baseboards look HORRIBLE. There's caulking in random sections in all of our house and sloppily laid baseboards that are crooked (see pictures). We informed David, and his contractor removed the caulking from one wall in one room when we asked for it to be removed from every wall. The worst part is we paid $900 for new quality baseboards from him. David is constantly hours late, doesn't answer calls, and is rude. He admits no fault and basically shrugged off our subpar baseboard job. All he said was he agreed there shouldn't have been caulking, and we could opt to pay for additional quater rounds to cover it up, but why would we need to do that if we're getting brand new boards? That was not even brought up before we paid. All we wanted was the caulking removed and the baseboards to be even. Awful customer service. I would never use "his" company again. read more

Our first home was a two story townhouse. The floor creaked constantly, and we wondered if the subfloor had issues. David and Juan spent time nailing down the floor and advising me on repairs before they placed padding. In the end it worked- we heard substantially less squeaks. The padding he suggested (Monterey) is so thick that we felt like we bounced as we walked from room to room. We sold the home a few months later and the buyers commented out loud about just how nice the new carpet and padding felt. When our new home needed updates, we knew just who to call. David left carpet samples with us for weeks (of course, we went with Monterey padding again). When we were ready, our narrow schedule window for renovations was demanding but David and his team were very flexible. I originally went to Lowes for an estimate and also called Empire and both were $1300.00 more for less quality carpet/padding. I was nervous about calling Texas best carpet because they were not a chain. The owner made an appointment at my house and brought about 20 samples. Very punctual. He gave his opinion on the samples describing how to tell the different levels of quality. Never was he pushy. He was very detailed and honest in pricing. We waited 2 days then called back. His installer called 2 days later and came the following day to install. His installer Juan was right on time and went straight to work upon arriving. Juan took his time to explain what he was doing and why. I cannot see a seam or one mistake. Juan asked me to look it over for mistakes before being paid. Everything was awesome. Price, process and installation. The only complaint and it was minor, was the samples were small and if I wanted to see more I could meet him at his at the warehouse. After that the service was poor, phone calls were not returned, the work was not completed on schedule. One of our carpet choices was switched without consulting us. Despite the difficulties, David was very aggressive about obtaining final payment within hours of the job being completed. David never came to inspect the work and really only cared about being paid. He sold us on a deferred payment plan with Paypal that didn't work and even had the contractors call and harass us for payment, 48 hours after the job was completed. So, David is an extremely confident dude and has very strong opinions about just about everything, especially other flooring companies. I was a little skeptical after I got off the phone with him but made an appointment for him to come and measure later that evening to get a carpet estimate. Right off the bat, he didn't seem like a typical "sales person." Told me everything straight, to the point, no BS. As I was a first time home buyer, just starting out, he was able to work with my budget and figure out ways to cut down costs a little here and there without compromising on quality. He had his installer come out the very next day without even asking for any form of payment. His installer was extremely forthcoming as well. He informed me my current pad was only a few years old, in great condition, and even better than the one he had brought. Therefore it would be smarter for me to just use the old one, saving me another couple hundred bucks. I honestly would have never known and would have paid for the new pad if he hadn't told me. And the BEST part is this new carpet I have is freaking amazing. I want to roll around in it... seriously. We are very pleased with our new floors installed by Texas Best Flooring! We replaced carpet and wood with dark hand scraped engineered wood and added on upgrade of the laundry room with tile. David Hill quickly understood what we wanted and recommended products that were just the look we wanted for a reasonable price. The work crew was very conscientious, and careful. They moved all the furniture out of 4 rooms, kept us informed of progress, were very willing to move the furniture back in the configuration I wanted, and asked several times if they could do anything else for me. They covered all windows and the kitchen with plastic and shut off the entry, stairway and upstairs to minimize dust. They vacuumed and cleaned the floors before calling the job complete. It was a big job that took most of the work week, and the result is beautiful. We are very happy. There are just a few places where there is some residue if the light is right, and David was very responsive to having another pass at cleaning. We met David in January when he came to our home for a quote on new flooring. We agreed on a price and a start date. The work began when promised but it stopped almost immediately because when our floor was opened up, a massive structural problem was uncovered. David helped us through the process of contacting an engineer and using the plan he developed to construct a fix to the problem. David Hill and "Texas Best Flooring" literally earned our business and respect every step of the way of our flooring project. First, our initial call to the company was answered by a real person, ( David's wife) who promptly scheduled David himself to come out for an estimate just 2 days later. Second, we thought we might have asbestos in our old vinyl - and David walked us through a rather daunting maze. Fortunately, David had just completed work for a mold and asbestos certification - and he showed us during that 1st visit how and where to find asbestos professionals who are actually certified - many are not. David is a true advocate for the consumer and WANTS you to understand his products and installation, and why they may be better than a competitor. He knows all facets of the flooring business and wants to educate his client regarding the many choices available. Another valuable asset David has are his installation crews who he has worked with for years. They did beautiful work - especially a tricky transition from the new planks to a sunken carpeted den. They also skillfully worked around walls that were not square, etc., and made the job look great in spite of various imperfections usually encountered in older homes. I did a lot of research online to find a great price with reputable service. Texas Best Flooring seemed to keep coming up so I gave them a call and he offered to come give me a bid at my house in Waco! Great service. David gets his best deals with a more limited set of flooring lines that are new to the market. If you can stick with the Bausen and carpet line he has, you will get a REALLY good deal. We floundered around and finally decided to go with Acacia Engineeed, but Bausen was out of stock by that time. Even with the Urban Floor line we had to use, his price was the best out there. You have to look at the Acacia in Bausen or Urban Floors. It is worth the extra $1-2/sq ft. I was trying to go low cost overall, but this was really worth it. Where you really get a good deal is on the take up costs for old flooring. We had very challenging tile to take up and his guys stuck with it and finished the job. I bought the workers a restaurant gift certificate because I felt so bad for how hard the job turned out to be but they were very nice about it. The carpet guy is really good and detailed as well. Go with the most expensive foam pad because you are saving so much on the carpet. This will make the carpet last much longer. It is PP rather than nylon, but the density is thick and feels great. His tile guys are best with the 12 or 14 inch tiles that are pretty straightforward. More intricate detail work that we wanted (old fashioned octagon and dot) was a little out of their element. They are very low cost and need to work fast to make their money. David knows this so just be clear about your expectations. Overall, I enjoyed working with David and his crews. He is a classic small/med size business owner killing himself to make his business grow and I appreciate working with guys like that.
