His calm, unhurried approach made a tremendous difference, and I left the office completely pain-free. What impressed me even more was that a few hours after I got home, Dr. Ling personally called to check on how I was doing. That level of follow-up, compassion, and commitment to patient care is something you don't often experience and speaks volumes about the practice. I also want to recognize Cheri Villarreal. Cheri was my hygienist when I first moved to Houston, and I've followed her through the different dental practices where she's worked because she is simply outstanding. She knows me well, brings just the right amount of humor to help me relax, and isn't afraid to give me a little tough love when I'm not taking care of my dental health. Her genuine care and encouragement have made a lasting impact. I walked out. Dishonest crooks, money hungry. The procedures are painful. I am 82, soon to be 83. The first lady - I don't believe she was my usual hygienist, gave me a nice fuzzy blanket, admired my nail polish - she was killing time for the dentist to get there. At 10:30am I felt a pin prick; next thing I remember is my brother-in-law helping me out of the car at home. Dr. Cooper provided written instructions and prescriptions in advance. I did not experience any pain. The extraction sites are healing normally. I am following instructions for post op care and taking medicine. I highly recommend Dr. Cooper and his friendly staff. My primary care dentist had referred someone else, but I trust Dr. Cooper after the first experience. He is a nice man, compassionate, kind and most importantly a skilled Oral Surgeon. They are very thorough with their patients. To start, they got current X-rays of my teeth and gums. I sat down with Dr. K and he was awesome. He gave me a few pointers on protecting my gums. I think Mia was my xray technician and she was really great. She noted all of my concerns before the doctor came in. Finally, Bailey the office manager was the icing on the cake. She gave me a referral for another doctor and said they would take care of me in the future if I needed it. The office is super nice and clean. At the end of my appointment, they asked if I'd like to schedule a routine cleaning. I specifically asked if I would need X-rays again, and I was told no, since I had just had them done. Fast forward to today (3/18/25, just 29 days later), I arrive for my cleaning and wait 30 minutes past my appointment time. Then, right before being seen, I'm pulled aside and told that as a cash patient, they offer an "insurance plan" for $99 a month that they try and upsell you, and that today's X-rays alone would cost $199. I explained that I already had X-rays taken less than a month ago, which was the only reason I booked the cleaning in the first place. They then claimed those X-rays weren't "full" and that I would need new ones for a routine cleaning. This practice feels like a money grab. The cost of the X-rays didn't even include the cleaning itself. Meanwhile, other local offices offer new patient specials for $99, including exams and X-rays. I walked out, wasted my afternoon, took time off work and sat in the lobby for 30 minutes when they could have addressed this then but the 2 employees at the front desk were just watching videos online instead. Unfortunate experience, they lost a potential long-term patient. If you're paying out of pocket, I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
