**Very Disappointed With Customer Service**…read more I had an extremely disappointing experience with Clear Lake Honda. I was on the phone with a salesman named Cesar when my phone unexpectedly lost service and the call was disconnected. Shortly afterward, instead of simply calling me back or asking what happened, Cesar texted me saying that I was rude for hanging up on him. I found that response very unprofessional and inappropriate. A salesperson should understand that calls can be accidentally disconnected, especially when there are phone service issues, rather than immediately assuming the customer intentionally hung up. I was seriously considering doing business with this dealership, but the way this situation was handled has definitely changed my impression of the company. Customer service and professionalism matter, and this experience was unacceptable.

This review is about my experience at Honda of Clear Lake dealership. I was there on Monday…read moreNovember 17, 2025. My goal was to check out a deal I found on CARFAX. 2025 Honda CR-V $25,596 and it only has 7256 miles. I normally don't drive 50 miles away from home to see something ordinary. Something tells me this was a great deal. I sent my inquiry on November 12, 2025. Shortly after, the internet manager Siarra responded. On November 15, I received an email telling me the vehicle was still available. On Monday, November 17, I walked into the dealership and asked for Siarra. Instead, I was told that a floor salesperson will be helping me. A helpful car salesman named Erik came to assist me. I went to his desk to check out that car I inquired about. What? It doesn't exist? It can't be sold because I got a confirmation email that morning. He said I should had went to the dealership's website to verify if that car still available. Wait. If it's not available, wouldn't that be Siarra's responsibility to contact me? Why is it suddenly the customer's fault. After talking back and forth about the cars that would meet my criteria and budget, he agreed to show me a HR-V EX-L for $27,433. Basically, there were no SUV's in my price range. Not sure why he even show me this vehicle and not telling me the price before I get off of the car. The HR-V was nice with souped up bells and whistles. Yeah. I would have to pay more for the modern convenience. After I parked the car, he walked to someone in another car to chitchat. I looked around the car to see if this car suits me while waiting for him. I found a few deficiencies. One, HR-V doesn't have assist bar above the car windows. I really need them because sometimes I need to pull myself out of the car. Two, the rear seat was so short. I can't easily get into the seat. Then, I started walking to check out other cars in the lot. Oh, the colors are very limited to black and white. Blue one is the sports model. At that point, I was done. There wasn't any reason to stick around. I went back to the showroom and tell the sales manager bye. I was really disappointed and wasted 3 hours of my time driving to Clear Lake to experience a switch and bait.

Anyways, I scheduled an appointment and they switched out my front brakes under warranty. No more squeaks. My people were courteous and helpful people. A long trip out of town had me waiting and Toyota Corp had to get ahead of this since they just reintroduced Landcruiser back to the market and had no history of issues. So, once they had a strategy for the problem, they switched it out. The dealer just had to wait on corporate.

The single star here is based solely on our experience with this dealership. First, we've bought two vehicles here to the tune of about $70K. We liked the place. Did we get great deals? No. But they made it fairly easy, other than the finance guy, who swore that he could get us a better interest rate to no avail. He also made a hard sale on an extended warranty because "There is three miles of wiring in every car for the computer system," to which I replied "Well, I sincerely hope that Toyota used decent wiring, because if you're trying to sell me an additional warranty before we drive off the lot, that makes me nervous." But I digress. The two experiences since then prompted me to buy cars (only) online through Carvana. The first experience was the service. Plainly and simply, we brought the vehicle in for Toyota Care (oil change, etc.) and the service dude delivered hard pressure for us to buy various filters. I told him "I have cabin and air filters in my own garage that I can install myself." It's true. I'm a dork that way, and it's mainly because changing cabin and air filters isn't rocket science, and I can do it without the $50 add-on charge. The service guy claimed that I would void all factory warranties by installing these myself. After a call to Toyota, I learned that he was as full of it as a Christmas Turkey. It's a shame, because I now refuse to take our cars there for any service (I drive an Avalon' ; wife drives a Lexus; daughter drives a Rav 4). They lost a bit of money because of their pressured and desperate approach. The second and final experience involved us going to this place to buy a used car for our daughter. They had a creampie on the lot -- a grandma car that was a little old but with very few miles and in pristine condition. The sales guy told us that he turned down two previous offers for the car because it was such a great deal. (They both were willing to pay sticker, according to him.) Well, I've been in sales and advertising ... and I have friends and relatives who sell cars for a living, and they all confirmed to me that he was trying to gouge us. So, we made an offer that we hoped would get the deal moving, and he said "Let me go talk to my manager." (Yeah, right.) After about 15 minutes of sitting in a glass office, I officially became insulted. Did the guy go "talk to the manager?" No. Come to find out, he was out on the lot trying to gouge someone else. We left, and on the way out, we poked our heads in the manager's office and let him know how the cow ate the cabbage. He acted confused and worried, but he would never win an Oscar. Truth is, he didn't care. And neither did the sales guy. Lesson learned. I see Mac Haik plates on cars all the time. If you've had a good experience there, more power to you. But our experiences here have caused us to avoid car dealerships at all costs. In other words, Mac Haik Toyota has ruined (our) business with all other brick-and-mortar dealers. Yes. They are that sleazy. No only on the sales end, but also on the service end. Horrible. Caveat emptor.

I recently purchased a vehicle from this dealership over the July 4 weekend. Normally I do not give…read morea five star ratings to business as it usually requires them to go above and beyond what One would expect. This was actually the case with Clear Lake Autoworld. It's a little things To begin the inventory that they have on the website is the actual inventory that they have on site at the location. Do you know that I did advanced research to determine the exact vehicle that I wanted by range of year's mileage price I knew exactly what I can get and what I should expect. So my review it's pretty comprehensive as it covers everything from the website being easy to navigate, responsiveness of the dealership from when initially contacted, actual information on the website as far as phone number and physical address, and the courtesy provided by the staff there at the dealership. What I found at this dealership is at what they say on the website as what they have. There were some big name brand dealerships that would put bait vehicles on the website and when I called they were so conveniently have just so that vehicle, but then the next day or two that exact vehicle will be back up on their website again You also have the issue of either private sellers or dealers not posting on the website that the title on the vehicle was either salvage or that the mileage was incorrect (off by 30k to 40k miles) of what they posted on the website. All of it just gimmicks to get someone in the door and on the ground so that they can try to sell you something that you don't want. Additionally, you have all these dealerships that do not accept cash offers. Other dealerships wanna try to scam you into the financing to where they make money off you more there than actually selling you the vehicle for cash. Not so at Clear Lake Autoworld, they do have financing available but had no problem excepting the cash offer. As far as pricing goes the price I alternately paid was a fair price. Kelley blue book provides a range of what you should expect to pay for a vehicle and though it wasn't on the lowest Clear Lake Autoworld was not on the high end either. They were right in the middle with spare pricing on the vehicle. The other issue I found very positive is the vehicles being sold at Clear Lake Autoworld are in great condition. I can't tell you how many vehicles I went to go see that had great pictures but when I got there the dealerships or the sellers had laid some cut out carpet over the actual carpet upholstery of the vehicle so that the picture was nice. But of course when you picked up that overlay carpet The vehicles actual carpet was all tore up or the interior just must not in good condition. Just like a selfie Dealers no it's all about the angle. But not so at Clear Lake Autoworld what you saw in the pictures was what you saw when you arrived. They also went above and beyond and made sure that when I was going to pick up my vehicle they did one last check mechanically of the vehicle, insured no engine lights were on I would come on, or wherever even there, plus they did a oil change and filter change and they also ensure that they were new floor mats included. This is a little above and beyond that I'm talking about. As you know when you buy a used vehicle you're expecting to buy a new floor mats anyway. But Clear Lake Autoworld did that for me as a little extra. Not saying that's what I do for everyone but that is my experience with them. As far as dealing with the staff there Shane and Linda were great. Very down to earth people, telling you what they have and doing their best for you. Appreciate their honesty, straightforwardness, and just willingness to be helpful And making the car buying experience as pleasant as possible. So I will definitely when I start looking for a new used vehicle whenever that is next Clear Lake Autoworld will definitely be the first place I stopped to see and check their inventory. Never know what kind of germs you can find there is what I'm thinking.

Unfortunately, the consistency and professionalism I once relied on have steadily declined, especially at the League City drive‑thru. The service has become a true "box of chocolates"--you never know what you're going to get. Friendly, knowledgeable tellers do exist, but they are hit‑or‑miss. What concerns me most is that the same issues repeat themselves, no matter how many times they're reported. My most recent visit on 07/24/2026 with Teller #3909 was yet another example of the ongoing problems I've encountered since the transition to Wellby. The note on my account was overlooked again, and instead of acknowledging the mistake, I was met with defensiveness. On two separate occasions, tellers have argued with me and even lied--whether out of embarrassment or simply poor customer service, I cannot say, but the behavior is unacceptable. To make matters worse, I made two follow‑up phone calls and was assured a manager would reach out. No one ever called. Sadly, that lack of follow‑through has become predictable. After three decades of membership, it's disheartening to say that Banking with Wellby often feels less like working with a professional financial institution and more like being forced to navigate a revolving door of untrained, dismissive staff who show little interest in accuracy, accountability, or basic respect. NOT HOLDING MY BREATH FOR IMPROVEMENT!

Let me start off with the credit card issue- I came in to replace my stolen card in December (also just had a baby, so I was hoping this would be a 1 and done thing) and of course it wasn't. They told me the card would be delivered to my mailbox within 2 weeks. Ok cool, I waited a month, never got it, so I went back in. They cancelled the card, and ordered me a new one. I'm very annoyed at this point. I wait my 2 weeks, and guess what? Still no card. I go in a 3rd time fuming with frustration, and they tell me they'll cancel the card AGAIN, and have it expedited to my doorstep. I had to pay extra for that. IT. NEVER. CAME. I lost my cool at this point. Never again will I bank with them after being a loyal customer since my teen years. I'm at Amoco now, and have had the most wonderful service experiences! I recommend everyone make the switch so you don't have to deal with ridiculous inconveniences like that anymore and have your time wasted! So long, Wellby!
