I was with my friends and about 3-4 drinks deep the night I came in for food. It was packed, but service remained courteous and efficient. I ordered the Texas Hen, a corndog, and some fries. The lack of quality was such that it halfway jarred me into sobriety. The Texas Hen is made with what felt like weird chicken meal, and for $8.99 is not a good value proposition (even with the chili). The fries I ended up with were incredibly sour, which is not a flavor I typically expect from potatoes. The corn dog was alright. I want to like this place for its convenience and speed, but the taste of those sour fries coming up every time I belched the remainder of the night is a memory that will haunt me. We stopped by for breakfast on Sunday before heading home. The hours were recently updated, so we were there a bit before they opened. They opened the door a bit early to let us all in and the server got our drinks while the kitchen was finishing their prep. We all enjoyed our meal. The food was served quickly and tasted great. Had a friend visit from out of town and all she wanted was a "good burger ". Took her here and she had a single small burger with grilled onions and a side of onion rings. My friends and I absolutely love this place!! Marla, Emily, and Tara made our experience more than wonderful. We go here at least once every couple weeks. The food is great, the staff is friendly, and prices are amazing. Every time we go downtown we always end up here because of the great food. They also stay open pretty late and have a window you can order from if you want something to go. We recommend the bacon egg and cheese, the grilled cheese, chilli, and the cheesy western. We came here after some exploring around historic Harrisonburg and were craving a snack of onion rings and fries. We ordered the chili cheese fries and onion rings along with some soda. The feel is definitely a diner feel and we enjoyed sitting at the counter and chatting with the service staff. The food came out fast and was made to order. The cheese on the fries is like a nacho cheese taste and consistency and the chili is a meat chili that has a slight kick which was perfect with the cheese and perfectly cooked crinkle cut fries. The onion rings were also cooked perfectly and while had more of a beer batter feel it was not overly thick and had a nice crunch. I really wanted to like this restaurant. The service was absolutely friendly and attentive and the ambiance is fine. My breakfast had multiple fundamental problems however. I ordered two eggs over easy and sausage. For $5.99, though, unlike every diner I've ever been to, this basic breakfast does not include toast. Alright. I'm going to need toast to eat those eggs, so I order it as a side. My coffee is adequate while I wait. My breakfast arrived swimming in grease, so much so that I actually blotted my eggs with a napkin before eating. The eggs were properly cooked, at least, but dang, why so much grease? The single thin sausage patty had almost no seasoning other than the taste of the grill. I've never had the need to put salt and pepper on a piece of sausage before, because the pleasure of the sausage is the seasoning, rather than the gnarly meat. By the end, I was glad there wasn't a second patty. And that $1.49 side of toast? Yup, a single piece of bread, hardly had enough to stand up to the grease, much less provide a good compliment to the yolk. I was certainly not going to ask for a second overpriced order however. By that point, I was simply ready to depart. I might have discussed this with the server, but the credit card machine had gone down. She was working by herself so I paid in cash as she did the good server's impossible balancing act of trying to deal with so much at once. Her good service merits the second star. Breakfast out should be a pleasure. Perhaps I just chose wrong and should try another mealtime, and read the menu carefully. $1.49 for one piece of toast to sop up those crazy greasy eggs? No thanks. Good cheap food and fast service. However, the staff is often extremely dismissive or downright disrespectful to patrons. I understand that food service can be a stressful and frustrating environment, but it is never acceptable to snap at guests who have done nothing wrong. This is a place that's open very late on weekends and is therefore frequented by (often drunk) 20-something students-- but that doesn't mean we are all going to be rude and messy. I grew up in Roanoke which had an eerily similar place that was called Texas Tavern. The difference is that Texas tavern never failed to disappoint and was far cheaper. While downtown about a week ago I ordered a burger at the Texas Inn and I not only received the wrong order, but it was also close to 13 dollars for a burger with no side. Thats absurd pricing for the quality. I understand they might be the only place open at 1 am, but you are much better off DoorDashing Sheetz cause it'll be about the same price. read more

The red hot dog definitely had me doing a double take, and a double order. The burger does have more bread than I like, but it was still excellent. First off, I want to say the staff were friendly and polite. The taste of the food was VERY GOOD! When I looked at the menu, I thought the prices were very resaonable.... My friend and I were excited to get our food... THEN the food arrived and I was staring at the smallest plate with the smallest burger you can imagine.... Think the size of regular McDonald's hamburger with a little thicker paddy.. Thank goodness I ordered a side of coleslaw and potato salad, but again in a very small dish! For the prices charged, the burgers should have been at least 50% bigger and the same with the side dishes. With two drinks , two all burgers and two small side dishes the total was $33.10‍. It should have been no more than $20 for what we got to eat. I left hungry and feeling ripped off. Sorry I was expecting a decent sized sandwich and a decent sized side dish.
