After coming to O'Neill's a few times, it's just average bar type food. I'm always disappointed in what they call brisket because it seems over done and crispy, not how it should be at all. This place used to be good, with decent food for a reasonable price. Everyone in the family would be able to find something they liked to eat. Our most recent visit started with good service, and the food came out in a reasonable time. It would have been another well-received meal if it wasn't for an uninvited guess making an appearance. If this place were looking for a mascot, it would definitely be a rodent, given how the employees seemed to neglect the presence of a rodent within a food establishment and even seemed to joke about it. Another table saw it and snapped photos since it may have been their first time seeing one in real life. They talked about the "cuteness" level and wanted to keep it as a pet. We did not receive any discounts for their rodent issue, so we still had to pay full price. read more

The hamburgers are fine, but the cookie skillet changed to a rectangle and now it comes out burnt and rock solid. The old cookie skillet was amazing always coming out chewy. I asked the waiter and he said people were touching and burning themselves. I would say either get the wood for the circular skillet or just let people burn themselves. I've been here twice over the last 6 months or so. It's a classic local sports bar/restaurant. Picture local theming around the local universities, large tvs, and the occasional noisy groups. They have a pretty standard bar menu. On the first visit we had margaritas (delicious flavors) and several apps. They were all very good, especially their wings, which cone with about 10 different sauce choices. They are better than any wings I ever had at Bdubs. On the most recent visit we chose from the sandwich menu because we were squeezing dinner in between a double feature night at the movie theatre. I had the Harrisonburg Hot (fried chicken breast with buffalo sauce, cheese, pickles, slaw). I actually altered my sauce a couple of heat steps down (sweet & sassy). It was delicious. He had the chicken wrap with the sweet chili sauce and it was fantastic as well. Good fries, good portions as well. We waited a little longer than we expected for our sandwiches, but they were busy and we were in a hurry, so it easily could have been our perspective rather than really being slow. Our server was very sweet, most likely a local college student. This is becoming a restaurant in our regular rotation. read more

We picked this restaurant for the stars on Yelp and boy were we supposed. Bathrooms - went to the bathroom, which had a rancid smell and ZERO soap to wash your hands, this should have been our red flag to get the hell outta there. Food - low quality, tasteless food. I ordered the brisket grilled cheese and my wife the steak salad. The brisket was extremely chewy like I just stuck a stick of Doublemint gum. Driving to Shenandoah National Park my better half and I checked into a hotel to decompress after hours of driving. It turned out the location was ideal for what I was craving which was wings! Lol It was only a five minute drive from where we were staying so I think it was meant to be. We parked, entered, greeted by a hostess that brought us to a booth with menus. It was quiet during this time around 4-5 pm. There was more workers then customers. I excitedly ordered the wings with sauce on side with sweet potato fries. The hubs decided buffalo Mac and cheese with an additional charge of add in chicken was for him. The food came out promptly. The sweet potato fries were all dusted with cinnamon sugar which I didn't know. No where on the menu for sides shared that it was going to be coated. I prefer it in its naked state. The wings were awesome, meaty, fresh, and had its crispy exterior that I do enjoy. The buffalo Mac and cheese was ok with minuscule bite size pieces of chicken mixed in the cheese. The buffalo taste was very faint. What I found odd was our waitress lingered while we ate, and then approached the table with the credit card reader with check in hand. I was still eating my wings. She then proceeded to process the card while food still at the table while watching my better half fill out the tip area. After she received the receipt she mentioned to one of her coworkers of checking out. I guess her shift was over, and so she needed her table completed. We visited here on Sat 9/10/22 for lunch. Sat at the bar & had lunch. We are from Upstate, NY and were in the area for vacation. This place was locally ranked as the top sports bar in Harrisonburg, VA. And we were checking it out for a place to watch the NY Giants vs Tennessee Titans on the opening Sunday of the season. Well you nailed! Great place for viewing the games. So on Sunday we watched some of the early games. Very festive atmosphere with the very loyal fans vigorously rooting loudly for their teams. Emily N was our bartender and she made sure we had our drinks, wings*, and our game on the TV near us. *Wings come in small $9, medium $13, & large $20 and 16 flavors. They were excellent. Driving home from Roanoke, VA to Baltimore, MD, we selected Oneil's Grill as a pit stop because they seemed to have decent menu variety, w.unique sounding sauces & ingredients, & cheap prices. Big ample parking lot, easy to navigate-upon entering, staff were friendly to seat us; & we were happy to see lots of social distancing measures were in place (a hand sanitizer station, masks required, and staff wearing masks & gloves). The beer menu was a bit annoying to navigate, as they had the tap list on a screen that changed between four pages so quickly or we could swipe a QR code to get it on our phone; honestly it was so much work-and the waiter didn't know anything about the beer on tap-so we just gave up and stuck w.water. I ordered the 12 piece smoked wings w/coconut habanero sauce & my hubby the blue ridge chicken plate w/fries & coleslaw. Again, our waiter was very un-knowledgeable; I ordered 12 wings, at first he told me they didn't come in 12-then he went to go ask if they came in 12, but the whole time I was staring at the menu saying 6-12-or-20 wings. Then I ordered the sauce, and he told me they come plain but it said on the menu, 'pick a sauce' and listed like 20 sauces...so I had to reiterate multiple times I want this sauce. The smoked wings were very smokey (which was great!), but the sauce was barely taste-able. The skin wasn't crispy, it felt soggy-ish, so I ended up peeling a lot of the skin off. The Blue Ridge chicken was yummy, two large chicken breasts smothered in sauce, cheese, and bacon-with lots of fries; though the coleslaw was very watery (I believe it was vinegar & seasoning). Along with the meh food, the service was 'questionable' for lack of a decent word-despite the Grill being fairly empty, we felt super rushed through our meal, in a creepy way. The moment our plates came out, I had only eaten two wings, when our waiter came over and asked if I planned on needed a box...I said maybe, but I wanted to try and eat some more and see how it's going..so he left & returned a few minutes later just standing there. I had to ask, 'did you need me', and he asked if I wanted the check. We ended up just paying the check, putting the food in boxes, and finishing in the car, because it was better then him lingering nearby for the whole meal. We were in town overnight and picked this place off Yelp for takeout. We ordered online. When I got there no one was at the host/hostess station. after a few minutes, and I do mean a few minutes, a waitress came to the station put away some menus, looked at her pad, looked at me , turned her back on me and walked away. Shortly after she left 4 students came in. They asked me if I was in line. I said I was in for takeout. A few more minutes pass and a man comes to the station. He looks at the students and he says how many? One of the students points to me and says he was here first. The man looks at me and says takeout? I allow that was the case. Go to the bar he says. This was delivered, not as an instruction, but as an order. So I do to find a very harassed bartender. After some confusion regarding my purpose and extended time in the kitchen the bartender presented me with a neatly tied plastic bag. I ordered fish tacos and a side salad. The tacos were excellent in every respect. I don't know about the side salad since it wasn't in the bag. My wife ordered a steak salad and that too was excellent. Fortunately, it was a good size portion and my wife shared it with me so I did end up getting a salad after all. Came to O'Neill's while staying in the area to visit Shenandoah National Park. It' a college town so this is a nice place for the young folks to hang out. I was in the mood for steak. I was eyeing the New York Strip but they were out of it, so I ended up going with the Sirloin. I thought it was good but cooked a little more than I asked. A friend recommended us to give this place a try. We came here about 45 mins til closing time. We were seated promptly and didn't fill rushed. We ordered the fire truck fires which consisted of waffle fries, cheese, bacon, hot sauce drizzled on them, of course a side of ranch. These were the best fries I have ever had in my life!!! Highly recommend them for an appetizer. We decided to split the thumbs and toes and chose the sweet am sassy rub. They came out and we thought they were chicken fingers, BUT, they were small chunks of meat. Hmmmmm...definitely not what we were thinking. They were a disappointment and the price for them was even worse. We don't mind paying for food that is worth it but what a rip off. Huge disappointment. Well the outside looks like crapola, but once you get inside, it is not that bad. It is actually a great setup, for a sports bar, tons of tvs and if I were drinking some beer, the food would have probably tasted better. The food was not what I would call great, but I've had worse...looking at you Pig n' Steak. We got the cheese fries to share and they were pretty good. I ordered the baby back ribs and they were ok, but the sides were nasty. Whoever came up with that cole slaw recipe, should never be allowed in a kitchen and the onion rings tasted like they just sat in a bowl of oil to cool off.
