Came here after a JMU game. Got a table within 5 min which was nice. Typical bar and grill, nothing fancy. Service was good, but a little bit too much attention. Needed to find a happy medium. Food was ok. Burgers only come well done. We ordered Frickles as an app but they came out with the meal.

Skillet cookie - yummy and big enough to share!

My family really enjoyed the selection of food at O'Neill's Grill. Most of us got a burger of some type. The service was good, the food portions were generous. We had bacon and cheese fries (large) for an appetizer and split a skillet cookie for dessert. We enjoyed everything!

After coming to O'Neill's a few times, it's just average bar type food. I'm always disappointed in what they call brisket because it seems over done and crispy, not how it should be at all. The chicken sandwich is ok, but you can get that anywhere. The service is decent in a fun college town atmosphere though.

Came in for a quick bite before checking into a camp at JMU right when they opened on a weekday. Prompt and attentive service! Delicious food! We will definitely come back again the next time we go through the area.

Calling all American, pub loving foodies! This is the spot! The apps and food were all fresh and amazing. Everything was also CHEAP! so grateful for this spot. We came in super hungry from a day at massanutten and this place did not disappoint. Our waitress Izzy was friendly and attentive. My husband got a mixed drink and he said it was strong and also $5.50... where? Lol if you're a sports family they have you covered with every event and game! The place is also huge so we had no wait at dinner time on a Saturday for Labor Day weekend. Can't say enough about this place. Will return when we come to town again. What we ate: Frickles- homemade and awesome Bacon cheese fries- the waffle fries were everythinf Fish tacos- so fresh Mac and cheese- a little bland and underwhelming Smash burger- yummy

If you are looking for a spot with TONS of TVs and decent food, this is your place. We went to watch the Kentucky Derby this year and they made a great mint Julip! The food was delicious! Frickles, Wings, Brisket, Pulled Pork, all very good! Wait staff seemed a little green, but did fine. We enjoyed our time!

Love the thumbs and toes. The ranch is the best. Great vibe inside and the tv's are fun. Food is good on average. It's a great go to.

The hotel is clean, modern, and reasonably priced, but honestly, the real highlight is the Ridge Room. After a long day on the road, I really don't want to get back in the car to find dinner, so having a rooftop restaurant just steps from the room is perfect. The mountain views are great, and the farm-to-table menu is always interesting. We've eaten here several times, and it has never disappointed. The food is consistently good, and the bartenders know what they're doing--the drinks are just as solid as the meals. It's one of those places where the menu might not immediately grab you, but once you try the food, it all clicks. Definitely a spot we'll keep coming back to.

I heard great things about this place and was very enthusiastic to visit...however, though the food…read morewas pretty solid the service was quite lacking. I have found the front staff and the wait staff to be lacking in their consideration towards restaurant guests. It seems that they are picking and choosing whom they choose to grant a great experience to. Service: The front staff and waitress we had carried an air of attitude when dealing with me and my family. It seemed like they were not keen to accommodate a few of our basic requests which essentially boiled down to laziness. To be honest, they are very petty when it comes to getting a table on their rooftop...when my family (of 5) came in, they told us it was first come first serve and sat us inside. Another family came in with 3-4 adults and 2 kids after we were seated, to which they promptly moved them outside even though they were inside as well when a spot opened up. I'm not truly understanding the mentality of service here and frankly thought for a nice establishment there would be better decorum and attitude towards guests. Food: overall pretty good. I found the food and drink to be solid. In summary, the food is good here but doesn't surpass the service we received.

We ate in the bar - loved the vibe down there! The food was amazing! We started with salads - Caesar for the Hubby (as usual) and the Spring Salad for me (I subbed blue cheese for the goat cheese - I'm not a fan of goat cheese). Both salads were super fresh. They make their dressings in house and it shows. Ribeye rare for the Hubby and Filet mid-rare for me. We both had the crème fresh mashed potatoes. Steaks were cooked perfectly. And let me tell you, if you get anything, GET THE MASHED POTATOES!!! I swear these were the best I have ever had in my life. No joke - that includes my homemade and my Moms and Grandma's. Seriously. It's worthy to note that I asked for salt & pepper, as there was none on the table. It takes a really confident chef to not have salt & pepper on the table. So of course, I tasted first. I honestly did NOT use not one grain of either. The food didn't need it. Everything was seasoned perfectly! We ended the meal with crème brûlée, because if it's on the menu, we are ordering it. It was exceptional! Easily the second best we've ever had - and we've eaten a LOT of crème brûlée in our years. The service was absolutely spot on. There were 3 people working down there on this Wednesday night and they showed incredible teamwork. Super friendly, efficient and very customer service forward. Whenever we are in this area again, we will definitely eat here!!

Lots of prom kids and college students filled the place. We were quickly seated in a nice booth and Nate our server helped us with some stout beers. We had a milk stout and a caramel macchiato stout the latter of which was the best. Looking at the menu I have to say it was not your standard ale house fair. It was definitely "elevated" in this regard. We asked to split a 2 soft shell entree with broccolini & seasoned mash, a bowl of crab bisque and a pierogi sampler. We also asked for an extra plate, to which Nate said he would take care of it. When the food arrived it was divided perfectly. Nate had split the bowl of soup into 2 small bowls and he divided the entree and sides onto 2 plates. The soft shell crabs were HUGE, the largest I had ever seen, and crisply fried to perfection. The sides were equally exquisite in their flavor and preparation. The crab bisque was loaded with fresh lump crabmeat and perfectly seasoned. The pirogies were also excellent in flavor and presentation. It was the most satisfying meal I'd had in a while (could be because I was craving soft shells) Needless to say we were very happy with the food in every way and were stuffed as we asked for the check. Nate/Nathaniel really made the experience as he was highly attentive, though caring for many tables, and was quick to take care of our every need. The place was really rocking with customers and everyone there was having a great time. We'll definitely be back and let everyone we know what a top notch establishment Capital Ale House in Harrisonburg is.

I used my napkin to sip it up and she said she'd go get me a new one. Never came, so had to ask once our food arrived. 3 burgers and fries at the table but no ketchup. Had to ask that to be brought over. Wedge salad - worst I've ever had. Tomatoes were almost white and had less taste than a cucumber. The tops weren't removed so had to cut away brown tops....bacon was cold and rubbery, not crisp at all. Green apple slices were small maybe 1/8 of a small apple. My wife had the Mexicali salad...chicken was sparse and very dry. Had to search to find a couple jalapeño slivers. Burgers were ok, fries were not crispy. Finished with the electronic pad that you are forced to tip while the server holds the unit in her hand. Does anyone, besides the workers, appreciate this awkward moment?? Overall food was not good, beer was warm, service was inconsistent at best. We have 2 capital Ale houses near us at home which are decent, but won't be returning to the Harrisonburg location.
