    Ribeye/potato/bread "pre-game meal"

I travel to Champaign from Chicago annually to referee UoIL hockey games. Always before my Saturday assignment, I go to the Champaign TXRH to relax and have a pregame meal before the hockey mayhem begins. It's sorta like the calm before the storm effect. My bartender/server Ariel was most friendly + gracious. She took my order, kept my glass filled and made my dining experience most relaxing. I met this nice dad Brady and his daughter who were later in attendance at the hockey game. Everyone is so friendly there. If you want a great dinner / sporting event experience, get the TXRH steak dinner and Illini home hockey game combo. You will not be disappointed!! Ref Jim.

Texas Roadhouse is always a go to place on the weekend. It does get very busy at night so make sure you join the waitlist ahead of time. The New York strip has a great crust and a nice fat cap which I personally love. The cactus blossom is a classic and is a great appetizer that feeds multiple people. The rolls are a hit or miss as sometimes they are undercooked but for the most part they come out nice and toasty and serve as a great free appetizer. Environment is nice and lively and the staff are always eager to serve you. Come check it out if you haven't and if you join their VIP program ahead of time you can get a free appetizer!

I come here with my boyfriend for dates and the food is quite good. I enjoy the steak and the fried pickles and my boyfriend is a big fan of the blooming onion and the ribs. Obviously the rolls are amazing. They can be underbaked sometimes (slightly doughy inside). Overall is a affordable place to head to with friends with great food and good vibes.

Both were hot and sweet, my favorite type of sauce. The red cabbage coleslaw was delicious and plentiful. The green beans and tomatoes were awesome. I wish they had greens too , but no. I also tried the polish sausage because somebody on Yelp said it was secretly the best thing on the menu. It was very good, but I'd say the brisket was better. Lots of nice craft beers available - some local. The service was nice and friendly. Nicole was my bartender/server. I enjoyed hearing about her favorite menu items. As you'll see from my receipt, everything has an itemized cost, so the place is a little pricey. But still worth it to me.

A few menu items were already sold out, but the smoky BBQ smell hit us from almost a block away, which definitely built the anticipation. I ordered the burnt ends sandwich without the bun. The flavor was really good and smoky, but the portions felt a little small overall. The coleslaw came in a small sauce cup, which was disappointing. The green beans had great flavor, and the twice baked potato casserole was tasty too, just smaller than expected. Service was friendly and the food came out really fast, so it seemed like everything was prepped and ready to go. Overall, good BBQ flavor and worth checking out if you're in town, especially if you love smoky meats -- just don't expect huge portions. Plus you had to pay for extra sauce and didn't have an option to try the different flavors, which was a bummer.

First off, it has a drive through, so we are not talking upscale, but it's not a dive. It's a nice clean place. Pretty small, but quite clean. And we noticed many drive thru and pick up orders! Fountain drinks and many sauce choices to boot. Sauces I tried: Cherry Chipotle: excellent! A little bit spicy, but not enough to deter any but the most sensitive palate. Pineapple Horseradish: fantastic! Oh my. I gotta learn how to make this. Chipotle peach: a good sauce. I didn't rave about it like the first two, but it's good. As wifey said, very good for chicken even though she poured it all over her brisket. She says this may be her fave or that it is tied with my fave - the pineapple horseradish. Mild: a very nice sauce! A little smoky flavor makes it pretty smashingly good. There are a few others that we didn't get. A Habanero Mango, a Hot, and another that I forgot... I got the Redneck Pork Nachos. Verdict: Great! A few too many jalapeño slices, but those are removable. Fries, pulled pork, melted nacho cheese, what could go wrong? Nothing! I was still wanting delicious food, so I ordered a Polish Sausage Sandwich. Now, this was a bit silly as I was pretty full, but I wanted something delicious again. Anyway, it was worth the required waddle to the car afterwards. In fact, just to explain, I wouldn't even get ICE CREAM!!!! That has never happened in my life!!! EVER!!! I've ALWAYS had room for ice cream! Anyway... Oldest got the pulled chicken sandwich. Hard to get much review from her, very short phrases and all. It wasn't enough, so she got another sandwich, brisket this time. The brisket was just as good as the chicken. She couldn't decide which was better. She says it depends on your mood, but both are good. Maybe a slight nod to the chicken because of the crispy edges. Wifey: Wifey got the brisket platter with baked beans and the fries. The brisket was a balanced blend of the moist and lean cuts with little pieces of burnt ends with it. Perfection! The French fries were the real deal sliced potatoes, fried "Jersey Shore" style (IYKYK). What a treat that was for the native Philly girl. The baked beans were next level. They were simmered with brisket and peaches in their famous bbq sauce. Wifey says they were calling to her so she answered the call and she was NOT sorry! They were so good! She was one very happy wifey tonight -y! Overall, it was a great outing to a new place! This might come into rotation in Champaign as a go to place. I don't think it's the right place for a romantic date. But, it's a great third or fourth date place. It's also not the place to take a business client, but, it's a great place for business coworkers.
