Ideally I would give this a 3.5. We went on a Saturday night so it was very busy. I would recommend getting onto the waitlist online. Once we arrived and texted that our party was there, we waited about 15mins to get seated. We got the bag of peanuts and the delicious warm rolls with cinnamon butter immediately upon being seated. We got the cactus blossom for an appetizer and the country fried chicken and chicken critters for the main dishes. It is a great value because you get your main dish plus 2 sides. They refill your bread for free. We had plenty of leftovers to take home. What brought the experience down for me was there was no silverware or ketchup at our table and we had to ask for it. We had a really great experience here. The waitress (Lauren) mentioned she was new but we couldn't tell. She did a great job, checking on us and satisfying our requests quickly. The food came as ordered and perfectl temperature. I really enjoyed the mocktails too. The atmosphere was great. It was bright and clean. Ànd I like the Veterans appreciation decor. They were playing popular country songs, and the staff even took a few minutes to line dance in the isle. It looked like everybody was having fun and they truly enjoyed working there. Three strikes, you're out. Two times I ordered the steak, it was cooked wrong, and tough as nails. Both times I ordered the ribeye. Both times it was cooked wrong and cut even worse. I ordered medium rare, and got barely seared and cold raw center. My grand daughter was severely disappointed. Unfortunately, I was home before I noticed, as the orders were to go. I gave the steaks, both times, to my dogs. Then, I ordered the catfish supper, and got dry ass chunks. I didn't know they sold catfish jerky. If you take your elderly VERY hard-of-hearing mother with you, just know that the only conversation you will be having is in sign language. The volume of the music is ridiculous! And then, it was turned up even louder for what sounded like a line dance. However, their "stage" or wherever they'd chosen to do this was either out of sight or not done for everyone's benefit. It's possible this restaurant is stuck in the 80's and they force their staff to stop what they're doing to perform. Ridiculous. I had been looking forward to visiting this restaurant as it was a FAVORITE when I lived in Texas. But Michigan has no idea how to do it up right. The famous rolls did nothing to stand out. The cinnamon butter tasted like a margarine substitute. The side Caesar salad was good and fresh. The steak (I got the 6 oz sirloin) was "tasty enough" but on the tough side and the sweet potato must have come from an oven in hell because it stayed steaming hot throughout the meal! (Not that I'm "complaining about hot food - I just felt silly having to blow on every bite so as to not suffer an internal meltdown.) The food gets a 3 for being edible, but I'll have to keep searching for a good tasting steak here in Michigan. The volume of the place ruined the whole experience. The take out & customer service isn't great. I was driving so I placed a call to order food and waited for someone to answer the line. After 8 minutes, decided I heard enough fuzzy country music, I hung up. I thought maybe they didn't answer the phone to force people to order online. I bit. I ordered online and paid. The text came through stating that I needed to reply "Here" but to stay in my car. So, after 20 minutes I arrived, texted "here". My food wasn't ready. So it informed me to stay in my car and they will inform me when it's ready. So I waited. Twenty five (it's been 45 minutes since i've ordered), I texted here again. It said my food still wasn't ready. At this point, I walked into Texas Roadhouse and there were 4 To-Go ladies standing there talking. I asked if my food was ready and another young lady snatched it up and was like "oh this is yours". I was really annoyed but I felt the bag and it was barely warm. They offered to fix it but by now, it was 8:30 at night & didn't want to go through it. Everything was cold except the potato, it was a little more than warm and the chicken benefited from it. What really "got my goat" was I received a text right after stating "your food is ready". So I called again to speak with a manager and the wait for that was 7 minutes. I hung up. Rude, cant keep a promised time for carryout, female manager (the 4.5ft tall one) is awful, slow service, terrible food. After prior bad experiences and a couple years away my spouse wanted their country fried sirloin - nothing else would do. In Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids or Saginaw - this would be a great choice. But Flint didn't disappoint......if still terrible was their goal. 1 hour late for promised ready time for carryout, missing items and food was TERRIBLE.
