Ryan was our waiter. He was the best waiter i've ever met. EXCELLENT SERVICE!! Even gave him a $50 tip on a $60 meal. Also wrote a note on his receipt and told him he was very good. Everything we asked him to get, he went straight to get it. Took our cups when needed and gave us refills without asking. Overall Ryan is probably the best worker there. He gave us extra rolls, more gravy, and checked on us about every 10-15 minutes. If you ever have Ryan as a waiter, tip him extra. read more

We had dinner here. We arrive with my hubby's service dog, Comet. They're attentive to tuck us in a corner away from the noise. Hubby had the sirloin steak, salad & loaded baked potato. I had the 5 Oz salmon, shrimp, sweet potato & veggies! Everything was hot, steak was perfect medium. Salmon was tender & shrimp scrumptious! Tiara was our waitress & very attentive! The manager stopped to say hi & check on the quality of our food. Then we were ready to pay the bill. Another patron, out with his family, picked up our tab as a Thank You to my hubby for his service to our country, who has 3 Purple Hearts! This gesture bought tears to my eyes for him to be honored! First, let me say, I really like the food at Texas Roadhouse; however, the one in Forsyth was terrible today. We arrived for lunch about 11:30 and had to wait almost 10 minutes for a table...with plenty of empty tables in sight! Plus, the hostess said the wait would be 5 minutes. We sat for another 10 minutes after being seated before anyone showed up to take our orders. She was cheerful enough, but obviously wasn't hungry and wasn't the one waiting for service. I ordered a cheeseburger, medium (yes, she asked), with fries. My husband ordered the country fried steak with no gravy, baked sweet potato, and green beans. Then, we waited some more. There were four tables in our area that were also waiting for food. Just before our food finally showed up, a man at a table of three across the aisle, finally got up and searched out their server and got their food to go -- they couldn't wait any longer. These folks had already eaten their salads by the time we sat down, so who knows how long they had been waiting! When our food finally came, we were really hungry or we would have sent both plates back. My burger was very well done -- not medium -- and the fries were a cold, greasy mess. My husband's steak must have been salted by every cook in the kitchen. He had requested his sweet potato toppings to be on the side and they were. That turned out to be a good thing because the marshmallows had something brown and burned tasting in the bottom....burned brown sugar? It was yuck, so he ended up eating the potato plain. Ordered on Valentines Day, I expected the place to be busy, that's why I ordered an hour earlier. I was to pick my order up at 6:00 so I showed up 5 mins early just in case it was done. NOPE, that's fine they had 5 min, well 5 wasn't enough either. 20 mins go by check again, NOPE 20 more mins go by check again Nope. 20 more mins go by so now it's 7:00 and we finally get a text to pick-up the food. I have a 5 min drive home so everything should still be hot. NOPE in fact the potato was ice cold and hard like it had been sitting around for awhile. I ordered snake bites and they were over cooked and cold. The steaks were cooked correct mine MR and hubby Well, but they were ice cold. I had to put everything in the oven just so we could eat it with some kind of warmth to the food. I don't want anything I just want the establishment to watch the employees better and put out quality food. read more

They have a new owner his name is James what a nice man. He's really changed it around. The minute I walked in the door to the minute I left it was amazing. My steak was perfect my potato was hot my salad was cold. It was so delicious and the service was outstanding as well. I would certainly recommend this Texas Roadhouse to anyone. I assumed the kitchen was backed up due to the long wait from time I ordered to the time my food was served. I had never been to a Texas Roadhouse before. I know, I was naive to expect a quality dining experience, but I guess I'm just a cockeyed optimist. I'll outline a few things for you... The Good: - Our server was polite and fairly attentive - The rolls with cinnamon butter were very tasty - My boyfriend's chicken-fried steak was surprisingly yummy The Bland: - I ordered the "Grilled BBQ Chicken," which was an overcooked half-lb chicken breast, slathered in barbecue sauce. I don't know, I somehow expected...more oomph? Maybe something I couldn't have made myself at home with a George Foreman grill and a bottle of K.C. Masterpiece? Oh, this was $10, by the way. - My meal came with two sides; I chose applesauce and a loaded baked potato. The applesauce was standard, no problems there. The loaded baked potato was kind of a gyp, though: a spoonful of sour cream, a couple bacon bits, and a bunch of unmelted shredded cheese. Really? I paid an extra dollar for unmelted shredded cheese? Lame. - The server forgot to bring one of our friend's sides. The Ugly: - At one point, the music was turned up really loud so the waitresses could line dance in the middle of the restaurant. This is always so awkward. They clearly don't want to be line dancing, and we clearly don't want to be watching them. And yet, there we were. The food is enjoyable for the most part and the prices are really good, but the atmosphere makes me hate coming here. The place is always so packed and cluttered, you can't even walk to the bathroom without bumping into people. Other places in Decatur get just as busy and I never have this same problem at those restaurants, so I think it's just a faulty layout Roadhouse has. It's like they try to pack in as many people as they can in the smallest area possible. It doesn't help matters that the servers are required to do line-dances in the aisle at least once an hour, making an already cluttered restaurant even more cluttered. Sound-wise, the place gets very loud. They blare really bad mainstream country music over the stereo, which is fine if you enjoy that sort of thing, but it can be difficult to hear what other people are saying. If you're looking for a good place to take a date, this would probably be the last place I recommend. Based on the food alone, I'd give this 4 stars. The free rolls they give are excellent and the decent-size steak portions are very tender. This won't be the best steak you've ever eaten or anything like that, but for a $9 price tag, it's easily affordable and much better than the steak at other Decatur restaurants like O'Charlie's or Ruby Tuesdays. If you live in the area and want a good steak, Texas Roadhouse comes highly recommended, but my only suggestion is that you get take-out instead of eating it there. read more

Atmosphere and employees were great. Unfortunately, their kitchen is LACKING we had to have a steak remade twice. Took the second steak home after being reassured that the steak was not raw and cooked to how we asked. Got home and it was RAW. Called management and the manager was extremely disrespectful, I told her not only that I would like my steak cooked but that a completely raw steak can cause food poisoning and can make people sick. She told me their is no such thing as a "health hazard" for steak. I don't know who she is but she needs to get a recheck on that along with how she speaks to her customers. read more

This joint can be pretty good depending on whether you are lucky or not. If you are lucky, then you will get fast service with nice properly prepared food. If you are unlucky, then you will get improperly prepared food with slow and poor service. I wish I knew the right time for a consistently good service, but in my experience it's been a crap shoot. With that all said, it's probably the best place in town that I know of to get a decent steak done, which isn't saying much. read more

I had lunch at this place for the first time and it seriously kept me full until the following day. They greet you with bread and a bucket of peanuts. We ordered the fried pickles (yum!) a burger, steak fries and some beers. The food was good and the meat was fresh. This is a chain restuarant that should not be overlooked. read more

Poor service and have attitude when I was upset about my appetizer coming out after meals. One steak was perfect and the other was a hockey puck when it was supposed to me medium. Cold beers, hot steaks, and friendly waitstaff along with clean environment make this an enjoyable place to eat when in Forsyth/Decatur. Ordered the family pack with sirloin steaks for four people. The pickup was organized with vehicles checking in and then being sent to a designated numbered parking spot. Another person confirmed our name then after a short wait brought us our food to our car. We also found out that they have a cooler of cut meat that you can buy from or preorder any cut you want. Will keep this in mind since grocery store had no meat last week. When we got back home we started with the salad which was very fresh. The mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans and steak fries were well seasoned and flavorful. The rolls were soft and the cinnamon butter sweet and creamy. I figured I would have a little wait, it was Valentine's Day. I ordered online for my pickup time to be 6:00. Got to Texas roadhouse at 5:55 to pickup. They said it wasn't ready just yet they would text when it's ready. Ok went back to the car, and an hour later the text came. As I stated earlier I expected a little wait. But what I didn't expect was the food would be f-ing ICE COLD The potato was half wrapped hard as in over cooked and cold. Steak was a ice cube and the Snake Bites were so over cooked they were hollow and cold. You would think as much food that was going out the door it would be at least warm. The service was decidedly uninspired. We were a party of 6, including a toddler and an infant. We got crowded into a side room with two tables of at least a dozen senior citizens each, forcing us to literally walk into the next room to get to the washrooms that were 15 feet away. We have eaten at this restaurant many times with no complaints, but this time we had to wait even though there were many open tables. Also our table had just been cleaned with an over wet greasy rag. Not pleasant. The menus were just as greasy. The noise level was worse than usual. They could really turn down the music and put something in to absorb some of the noise. Ok, let's set expectations here. You're in Decatur/Forsyth, IL. In this area, the options are limited, and unless you want to roll out $$$ for a fancy steak, Texas Roadhouse is the place to go. The food is exactly what you would expect for a steakhouse on the casual end, portions are hearty, and prices are in the mid-range. Huge bonus is the fact that their (free) rolls that come with your meal are absolutely delicious. I even remember as a high schooler, that they would give these out for free when all we did was crash the restaurant and order sodas to kill time! Super nice of the staff to deal with us back then. Service is so-so. There's been a time or two when my silverware or glass is dirty, but the staff is always nice and quick to give me a new set or new drink. Well this was a typical large chain restaurant experience! Texas Roadhouse is certainly fallen off in their standards over the years, and this was no exception. We took our daughter there for her 26th birthday 3 days ago, and my wife and my grown son are both still sick from the experience. My wife had the smothered chicken, myself and my son both had the catfish with was horrible! The first order we got had to be sent back because it was hard as a rock, II wasn't much better but we didn't want to wait anymore. They both had the green beans so we assume that's where the problem lies. Our server was Megan, and she was fantastic! The place was loud, way too crowded, and they were unable to hold any kind of a standard with that kind of a crowd in in place. We will not go to that Texas Roadhouse again, nor any others for quite a while. They seem to have outgrown their standards and are resting solely on their name. As a side note my daughter got a petite filet, and frankly I could have cooked a much better one at home on our big green egg. Next time we want good food, we will just stay home I can cook better than this and not pay $100 for it read more

Meh. It all averages out to being not worth it. The steaks and rolls are great. However the wait is atrocious. The atmosphere feels like a honky tonk bar and unless that's REALLY your thing it's just obnoxious. The music is so loud the wait staff has to shout and if you think you had a wait for your table just wait until you're starving staring at license plates hoping your food is on every tray that passes by. What's not to love! This restaurant is the perfect package of 5 star service and quality. I usually get the sirloin with rice and mashed potatoes with country gravy for $8.99.
