I'd wanted to try Texas Roadhouse for a long time. I actually tried visiting another location once, but the wait was so long that I decided to leave. This time I finally got to experience it with some coworkers, and I'm glad I did. Our server was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and she made the whole experience even better. Even though the restaurant was very busy, she stayed attentive and always had a smile on her face. The only downside was the waiting. Even with joining the waitlist ahead of time, we still had to wait a bit for our table. The food also took a little while to come out, but considering how packed the restaurant was, it was understandable and definitely not because the staff wasn't working hard. The food was worth it. We shared the Cactus Blossom as an appetizer, and I ordered the steak with mushrooms and onions. Everything tasted great, the portions were generous, and now I understand why this place is always so busy. I'll definitely be back. read more

I visit this Texas Roadhouse often. Like ornate it offers a nice variety of steaks, chicken, chops and ribs. It is very popular and can be quite noisy and very crowded during peak hours. To minimize wait time I strongly recommend their app which you can use at any location. You sign in and when when you arrive you can get in the waiting list while waiting in your car. When a table opens up they text you and you can then go right to the front of the line. The other way to avoid lines is to go early if you can. They open at 3pm weekdays and before 5 you can get very decent early bird prices for several menu items. The food is very good, especially for the price. I usually get a steak which comes perfectly done to order. Seasoned just right. I like the baked potatoes and sweet potatoes that you can get topped with a variety of toppings. I've also tried the pork chops and ribs which were great, beef kabobs with grilled onions and peppers on rice or mashed potatoes (yum). I've tried the prime rib which is also good but frankly the steaks are better. Recently I tried their country fried steak for the first time. It was ginormous! Filled the entire plate. I will admit though that I was a bit disappointed. I've enjoyed better at several breakfast spots even though at half the size. I love the cactus blossom which is their version of Outback's Blooming Onion. I think both are equally delicious. Their BBQ rib appetizer actually comes with fries and can make a reasonable entree for some diners. Like I said the only negative I have here is the crowds and the noise. I ate there last night for a birthday party for my brother. This was by far the worst meal I've ever eaten at any Texas Roadhouse restaurant. The steaks were WAY over cooked, no where near what any of the 4 of us ordered. The sweet potatoes were stringy and gross. The signature chili wasn't even up to standard. The place was pretty packed, but if they keep serving food like this, it won't be that way for long. The waiter did offer to have them cook us new steaks, we declined. I know how that goes, and I'm not saying they do anything to it, but I'm never getting a re-done anything from a restaurant. They also did offer us a free dessert, but none of us were getting dessert anyway. I frequently visit Texas Roadhouse in different locations and have always had consistent, enjoyable experiences, so I expected the same on a recent work trip. I could not have been more wrong. To start, I found a long strand of hair baked into the rolls. Not sitting on the plate, actually inside the bread. It was immediately disgusting and completely ruined my appetite. The fried pickles were the only decent part of the meal, but everything went downhill from there. After waiting quite a while for our entrees, we watched our food get delivered to the table next to us even though we had ordered before them. The server took the plates back after realizing the mistake, apologized to them, and never said a word to us. Then, less than two minutes later, those same plates were brought directly to our table. It was obvious the food had already been handled, sitting out, and breathed over. It felt unsanitary and careless. My steak and potatoes were completely cold, not even slightly warm. I sent it back and when it came out again, the steak had clearly just been reheated. It was now overcooked, dry, and completely inedible. At that point the entire experience felt gross from start to finish. We paid on the kiosk and left the food sitting there. Went here for our anniversary, and the food was good. But the service was a total joke. We asked for another basket of rolls that never showed up. Our server started off friendly, but as soon as she saw the tip, her whole attitude changed. We're college students trying to enjoy a decent meal within our budget, not get judged for it. Instead, she stood there talking and pointing at us to her coworker, then actually came back to ask why we didn't tip more. She even circled the total and tip in red pen like she was grading our receipt or something, then just stared at us. Completely unprofessional and embarrassing. Please do not waste your money here. I can get better service at McDonald's. I'll never go back to this place. The staff acts entitled and rude over tips. Instead of assuming everyone can tip the same amount, maybe try treating all customers with basic respect. If you're that upset, try looking for another job that doesn't depend on tips. read more

I told the waitress and she literally said the ice is infested with fruit flies and cockroaches. Which is bad enough. I've not been to Roadhouse for almost 15 years. Just one question- what happened to the peanuts they use to serve, or do I have my restaurants crossed? Oh well, in the grand scheme of things, the lack of peanut shells strewn all over the floor was not a distraction or disappointment. As it was a Saturday evening the restaurant was busy with a wait. But, as my wife placed us in the wait list queue through their online link, we basically had very little of a wait when we arrived. The Hagerstown Texas Roadhouse restaurant has always been one of favorite places to eat. We live between the Frederick Texas Roadhouse and the Hagerstown Texas Roadhouse. We like to sit at the bar to eat because there is no wait time and enjoy interacting with others. We stopped going to the Frederick location because they allowed a man who we found out is regular to chew dip at the bar. Kind of hard to enjoy your meal when that's going on! Today we sat at the bar at the Hagerstown location. Got there around 3. Not very busy but found service and food to be not so good. Salads had brown lettuce, filet mignon was undercooked and husbands steak was over cooked. Bartender disappeared and had to find a manager to pay our check. Ate at the Salisbury Md. Texas Roadhouse around 4pm 11/12/24. Picked the 16oz. Sirloin from the case. Prepared perfect, tender and delicious. Mushrooms atop the steak, husband's good and firm, mine ruined with so much seasoning and overcooked. Two appetizers, Blooming Onion, room- temp, Rattlesnake Bites, were mush to point was flattened by the small sauce cup. Horrible quality. Both were obviously pre-cooked prior to ordering and sitting in room temperature oil. At least the Onion was at least 60% but still not on par. The sauce didn't have the kick it use to. The tossed salad was nice, rolls good and baked potato okay. The meal was $93 + $20 tip ( excellent waitress ) Brought 65% of food home. At least we'll have steak, eggs and home fries for breakfast. My family visited on a Friday night. The store was very busy but we were seated quickly- we had a call ahead seating to help with that. Our server probably gave us the most pleasant experience I have had at this specific Roadhouse. She was attentive, kind and genuine. The atmosphere was extremely weird. No music. Usually, the music will make you have to scream to be heard; now, it's the other extreme. Just the mono-droning, banging sound of the bread machine making dough for rolls. I asked the waiter why no music and his flip answer was, "we can't figure it out, corporate tried to have it fixed, over a month ago and they couldn't figure it out either! Do you want me to sing?" Before we left, the so-called manager came by to ask her compulsory query, "is everything alright?" I told her about the weird atmosphere and she also asked if I wanted her to sing. Sarcasm isn't why we go out to eat dinner at three-to-four times the cost of what it would be to cook at home. The food was just okay. The server was disingenuous and rude as was the so-called manager. The atmosphere (ambiance) was strange (to say the least). These employees need a crash course in customer-relations. So it's been years since we visited a TR. I was glad to see no peanut messy floors, no buckets full of peanuts on the tables and the decore has been toned down drastically! Sadly the menus are still gross. I suspect they never get wiped down after each patron leaves the table or if it does it's not thorough. The food was ok noting mind blowing. This review is based on a recent experience we had while dining at the bar. If I could rate just the food then it would be a much higher review but what good is your meal if the service sucks. So went on a Saturday evening and the place was packed which is very typical for this location. We were first sat at an unclean table with a rickety fan hanging loosely above our heads. When we asked if we could move to a cleaner, safer table they tried to sit us at a table that was filthier than the first one and that had a trash heap collecting on the floor underneath it. Smashed food, used napkins, and overall filth was all over the floor and no one from the staff thought to clean it up nor did anyone think it was a bad idea to try to sit guests there. So we headed back to the front to wait for a new table and while we patiently waited my husband was able to talk to the manager on duty and tell her how it had looked no one cleaned the tables and floors fir a while where they tried to sit us. Her response was that she'd send someone to take care of it which was the right response. However, while waiting for the clean table a few people got up from the bar so we decided to eat over there. That's when we met the bartender and things got off to a strange and rocky start: First, the bartender took our appetizer order but forgot to ask what we wanted for dinner. When she finally came back over 15 min later she had copped an attitude like it was our fault for not ordering our meal earlier. She then rudely took down our order and that was the last time she would initiate contact with us. When our salads dropped my husband waved her over so he could place an order for a diet coke and her response was, "Do you need a doctor?" Followed by giddy laughter. It was a strange response to a request for a soda and had he ordered a Dr. Pepper we might have understood her reaction but he clearly asked for a diet coke. She then laughed in my husband's face about how she thought he needed her to call a doctor. Bizarre... Then, after our food dropped she did not check to see if our steaks were cooked properly which mine was not, nor did she refill my husband's drink or remember to bring him ketchup for his fries. Keep in mind it wasn't busy at the bar anymore as multiple people had gotten up to leave by now. We watched her go from guest to guest checking on people and refilling their drinks, having little chitty chat conversations all the while our needs were being ignored. After having enough I got and asked for a manager as I was not happy with my steak or the lack of service. When I spoke to the manager who was the same person my husband had spoken to before about the dirty tables and floors, her response to me was that this bartender hadn't worked in the bar area for a while and was probably overwhelmed as if I am supposed to be understanding that my meal experience was ruined for their incompetence placing someone who wasn't capable of being at the bar on a Saturday night. The manager did not offer to have my steak remade or offer us desert as a way of trying to smooth things over. She took our credit card and swiped it right away and then went to coddle her employee who she said was one of their best bartenders despite is having never seen her face before. In the past when we'd sit at the bar we've been waited on by a different bartender named Liz who is always pleasant and makes sure you are happy and leave satisfied. This bartender's service, however, was nothing like the standard we're used to getting from Liz and overall put a damper on our night out because the idea of going out to a restaurant and paying money for someone to cook and wait on you is what makes the experience worthwhile. We went out to escape everyday stress and just relax our minds that evening and instead we had to deal with this rude bartender and an out of touch manager. read more

A solid 4 star experience. Either through great training or personal inclination (or both!), as she walked me to my table the hostess asked me if I'd been to the restaurant before. She did it with every other table I watched her seat as well! My server was Suzie, and she was personable and attentive from beginning to end. I was a single diner, and in those situations some servers approach the table with a vibe of "oh great, single diner equals low tip, so let's rush her out". Not with Suzie! She gave me as much attention as she did her other guests. The fried onion appetizer was very crispy, and I really enjoyed the spicy sauce. Suzie noticed that there was a lot of onion skin left on the outer layer, and offered to have another one remade for me. I will try it again on my next visit, as what I was able to eat was quite good. The country fried chicken was well breaded and juicy on the inside. The thin cream gravy was not very flavorful, though. The Cesar salad portion was generous, but I'd recommend asking for the dressing on the side and extra croutons. The garden salad that I saw at another table looked full of veggies, so I'm going to just go with that one next time. For my next visit, when I will bring my son and try their steak and prime rib offerings, I took advantage of the gift card special to get a free app (I'm telling you, I'm getting that onion appetizer again!). read more

I've been to many TXR locations and have always had an excellent meal and very friendly service. Same goes for this location and I try to make a stop here anytime I'm passing through on the way to DC. The fried pickles are quite tasty without being overly greasy and the seasoning gives them more flavor than your average place. The steak with mushrooms/onions is quite tender and tasty. The loaded baked potato and green beans are quality sides. The rolls have to be tried to be fully appreciated but my wife has been mortified in the past by my consumption level at a single siting. There was a snafu with my wife's steak being initially undercooked but they immediately took care of it and no big deal. I'm not usually a big chain restaurant guy but you've gotta try this place. read more

Sometimes we just have to drive across town to get T/R...we got there around 4:30pm on a Tuesday evening and were greeted by several young ladies and promptly taken to our booth and given a basket of those delicious, buttered rolls with cinnamon butter...ALWAYS a favorite! Elizabeth greeted us and was very pleasant and attentive, something sorely lacking these days...I ordered the grilled pork chops with Caesar salad and a cup of chili...the chops were boneless and HUGE...cooked perfectly! The salad was crisp and cold, not to mention delicious! The WORST. Took my boyfriend here for his valentines day gift. They didn't cook our steaks right and the site was never came back other than to give us our check. Not even one refill! They offered me 2 dinners at $30 off. I got the coupon and we went back. It wa sonly$30 off both dinners not each ; which is about what I paid the first time ($70 bill!) they messed up my (well done steak AGAIN) he ordered steak and chicken and they gave him shrimp. Server was better on this visit. We paid and then I spoke to the manager about the coupon and the food and I was not able to get anything as I had already paid. I called corporate and all they offered was another $30 off 2 dinners. at this point I spent like $100 on 2 dinners (minus that crap $30 off) and had crap service, the wrong food and shitty management. read more

Today was my first visit. For starters, the rolls and cinnamon butter were amazing. For my meal I ordered a 10oz. Ribeye with a caesar salad and baked sweet potato. The steak was no where near 10oz. but the flavor was great and the house steak sauce was really good, sort of like an A-1 but a little sweeter and smokier. The sweet potato was perfect. I didn't care much for the caesar salad only because the dressing wasn't that great. Overall, it was good though, the service was excellent and I definitely want to go back and try other things on the menu. read more
