Really good all-american buffet place. Option for ala carte dining available as well. Clean and good service. Would come back when in the area.

This buffet is definitely not a usual place I will go eat. It's not because it's not good. It's just not my usual type of food to eat. Stopped by recently Due to a friend's request and here is my review. Foods: all the basic home cooking proteins are covered, like fried chicken, meatloaf, beef stew, turkey. And many selections of cooked vegetables. Salad bar is great. Has everything you need to make a delicious salad and 6 different kind of dressings to choose from. For $19.95 it's definitely not bad for a usual family style dinner. Service: was great. Plates were changed often, service very attentive. Cleanliness: floor was very sticky when walked on, stains on table and chairs. Hence the 4-star .

All the Western Sizzlin locations where I live have closed, so it was nice to stumble across one during my travels. This place is certainly a throwback, but in a positive way. I have noticed some people mentioning how it is confusing when entering the first time. It is kind of strange, but you have to take a left and walk around the whole dining room. You then make your way to the registers and order from there. If you want the buffet, you just order that and pay up front. I have never gotten anything but the buffet. They do their dinner buffet all day on weekends and I came on a Sunday, which was a busy day. They seem to have plenty of regulars who love the place, and I can understand why. The restaurant itself is clean. I did not notice anything overly dirty and the buffet remained maintained and well stocked. The service was nice enough. They made sure we had drinks and plates and cleared old plates efficiently. The concept of the restaurant does not require tons of interaction with the customers from the wait staff. The food is typical southern stuff such as fried chicken, meatloaf, macaroni and cheese, broccoli casserole, heavily seasoned and cooked vegetables of sorts, rolls, and many more. They also have a salad bar that looked fresh and plentiful. There were a couple desserts and a little ice cream station, but nothing too extensive and I think they only had chocolate. Standout items on the buffet for me were the meatloaf, fried chicken, casserole, chili, and what I am pretty sure was pork loin. I also like whatever they do to make their cooked carrots taste the way they do. A fun note for me is that the chili tastes exactly the way my mom's chili tastes. Overall, I think the quality of the buffet was worth the price. It is not a huge buffet like Golden Corral, but I think the quality is better. I am not sure if they keep the freshness up throughout the week, but they certainly had all the food on a quick rotation and nothing I had tasted old or anything. I certainly will return if I am passing through the area.

Food came out at just the right pace between courses. Ambience was only "ok"... I did notice that things looked a bit worn. And one thing that bothered me was that there were ceiling tiles that were badly water stained and sagging... nothing active, but it was very unsightly. Given that they are very easy to replace, leaving them there just made the place feel less "special evening" ambience to more like "a diner" which is a shame for a place i expected to be more classy. As for the food we had lots of positives to say. We tried the crab bisque appetizer which was thick and creamy with just the right amount of seasoning and crab meat. The portion for a first course was generous. We also got the steamed mussels in a white wine and garlic sauce. The mussels were cooked perfectly. They were plump, tender and flavorful the sauce was delicious. Be sure to ask for extra bread to soak up some of the broth and juices. The side salads were likewise generous portions, fresh and crisp. Very happy! The main courses come with just one side. I got the fried seafood platter with hushpuppies and my wife got the stuffed flounder with onion rings. The fried platter came with flounder, shrimp and oysters, with tartar sauce and cocktail sauce. All were coated in a lightly seasoned breading that was crisp. Not overly thick. The hushpuppies, which other reviewers said were outstanding, I found to be on the sweet side. Crisp, yes, but overall just ok...I prefer mine more savory than sweet. The stuffed flounder was also very well done. Delicious. The flounder was cooked just right. Flaky and moist. The onion rings were thick cut, beer batter dipped. They were hot and crisp and the portion like everything else here was generous. In the end we did need a box to bring some of our entrees home. We left very satisfied. So I was pretty satisfied with the food and the service. Now if they could just do something to get the dining room as upscale as the food and service this would be an outstanding dining experience... thus only four stars instead of five.

They open at 3pm weekdays and before 5 you can get very decent early bird prices for several menu items. The food is very good, especially for the price. I usually get a steak which comes perfectly done to order. Seasoned just right. I like the baked potatoes and sweet potatoes that you can get topped with a variety of toppings. I've also tried the pork chops and ribs which were great, beef kabobs with grilled onions and peppers on rice or mashed potatoes (yum). I've tried the prime rib which is also good but frankly the steaks are better. Recently I tried their country fried steak for the first time. It was ginormous! Filled the entire plate.
