So, i got a Family Pack Chicken Critters and I have been there to eat a bunch of times, but today we decided to order online and we thought we would be getting something that would satisfy us.. well we were wrong first thing we noticed was when we open the box for the bread they were small, very small it was smaller than the normal size of the bread, there was also another box of bread and it had 4 pieces of bread that were little triangles probably the size of the chicken critters which also the critters were very small like about the size of my pinky finger. We were excited about the sides, so we opened em up and to our surpise the corn was only at half way and it seemed to have more of the water than the corn itself which to me is weird because if i ask for corn to go i want more of the corn then the water and id like it to be filled not just half way. Now the mashed potatoes were fine nothing wrong, and the chili was also good, now the fries were like a kids serving i thought the box was gonna be atleast close to full and nope, its like the corn at half way. Got the family meal 4 steaks for 49$ to go. First of all, it comes with 4 sides and a "family sized" salad, "family sized" rolls. 5 options to chose 4 sides from, so we picked everything but the chili. Tell me why the sides were portioned sooooo small it wouldn't even feed two of us. Like between the 4 of us, we got kid sized meals other than the steaks that are cold but correctly sized. I spend a lot of time traveling and eat at some of the best steakhouses in the country, so when there weren't any high end options in Topeka I was a little skeptical. I should have known something was up when the parking lot was full at 6pm on a Wednesday. Turns out, this was one of the best steak experiences I have encountered in a long time, including the top dollar places. Steak was perfect, and for the price I would say A+, I had the 8oz filet. This is my husband and mines favorite place to eat in Topeka. Their food is consistent and tasty, the rolls are pretty much made of heaven. Service is always friendly. It's definitely a noisy place so I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for quiet. But if you are looking for friendly staff and good food tgis place is hard to beat in the area. read more

We have been to several roadhouses, we started in Topeka but when our city got one we have been eating there. We were at the Topeka one on June 14th, of course they were packed. We used our call ahead so our wait wasn't that long(lines were way out the door). Our waitress was Sierra, let me tell you she is the best, friendliest, nicest, happiest waitress we have encountered in a long time. Been to their location many times over the years..usually okay food and service ...day after Christmas was one of the worst dining experiences I have had...we decided to dine here for the prime rib..did that call ahead seating was quoted 35-45 was closer to hour to an hour 15..no biggie..upon being seated we didn't get our rolls..one of our family's favorite parts of the meal..we wouldn't receive rolls for another 30-45 minutes...our server came and took our drink order..returned with the drinks and dropped one in the middle of the table..we should of left right then obviously not her night..when she she returned to clean it up she wiped it off the table onto my wife's lap..but surprisingly the family was ok with it so far ...stuff happens..all four of us have worked in the restaurant business before so we get it..when we ordered three of us ordered 16oz mr prime rib..I make them get the bigger ones cause I live the leftovers...after taking our order the server returned saying they only had me 12oz prime rib..not 16..I under stand how prime rib is cut and changed to a ribeye..very ok with them running our but makes no sense to have 12 oz and not 16..o well...wife changed her order as well..daughter rolled the dice and lost..her prime rib was the end cut..probably 20oz..and had not been medium rare for many hours..it was well done all the way thru..my medium rare ribeye came out well done..they did replace with another well done that arrived to the table as we were preparing to leave..so for my meal I just ate the appetizer and two sides..hole experience was horrible..from the cleanliness of the bathrooms..to all the trash under our table..the seating area in front of the restrooms had been converted to a storage area that looks horrible..the restrooms were dirty and needed stocked..one of the dispenser for paper towels was broke and the other was empty..usually they play the music a bit loud for me..but on the 26th they had no music at all..manager did comp half our meal...I did not ask for it..I would have rather had a good experience and paid full price..they need to do there table visits earlier in the meal..like when the server spilled the drink..or when we asked for rolls for the 10th time..we typically tip 20% regardless of food and service..around the holidays will tip more..This is one of the only times I can remember tipping 5 bucks on a 100 table..although we only paid 50..our server would not slow down enough to listen to anything we said..she talked fast and moved too fast ..every time she left our table we were still talking to her..she did have all three of her tables sat...but really needs to take time to listen to her tables...probably won't do the road house experience for a long while.. read more

The only reason they got two stars is the waitress was nice. The gentil that brought out onion blossom dropped on the table hitting my son's salad plate dumping the ranch dressings on the table. Then my husband being his birthday i told him to get any steak he wanted he chose an 18.99 steak (my husband has a firm belief after working in the industry you do not return food. They brought him his steak (suppose to be medium) it was still bleeding on the plate, waitress said cut in to it. Normally I say nothing but the wors flew out of my mouth that is still raw, grill marking if you were lucky (fat normally turns clear when cook this fat was still white) my son being funny was making mowing sounds. Not kidding it was that uncooked, I told him not to eat it he'll get sick he said he would just take it home and cook it there. I don't know you but for 65.00 (total for three meals) you should not have to take your food home to cook. OK, this is for sure a chain, and that is OK. This location was absolutely exceptional. The servers who helped me knew asked my name and used it, establishing a very nice link. They were as timely and responsive as could be, and the manager and I even had a very nice conversation. This place had a small town "we care about you" approach and it made for a great meal. Always good quality quick service fair prices pretty much any location in country same result. U can pick ur steak or ask to have one cut special. I often order 24 oz strips and always happy. If by yourself sit at bar when they are busy which they normally are for blazing fast service. Can get meal and 2 beers done in 30 minutes as the norm at most locations. We are from PDX so we enjoy great food , I have to say the food was surprisingly good. Steak was cooked perfectly. Staff were friendly and attentive. We were there on a Wednesday evening and they were really busy but we only waited 15 min for a table. Downsides are the noise level and they bring the food quickly without time to enjoy the appetizer, before salad, before the entree. So turning the tables is a priority, and likely how they keep the prices very reasonable. read more

"Call ahead seating" ?? Why waste your time! The following is a copy of the email I sent TR outlining my experience. SURPRISE.. no response. BUMMER BIRTHDAY! I'm sorry, BUT "call ahead seating" is a joke! I called at 5:25PM to advise of a party of 8 arriving @ 6:30PM (dinner with family, for my bday). I was told that there was currently no wait time wherefore they could only hold a time slot for 45 minutes and I'd have to call back at 5:45PM. So I did! Then I was told, by the same girl, and I quote: "well, now there's a wait time, so I'm not sure, but you may have to wait, oh, I can't say for sure, but maybe 10 minutes or so, is that ok? To which I replied "ok". When we arrived we were seated within a 10 minute time frame, AT SEPERATE BOOTHS, we were split up and seated across the aisle from each other. THEN, I was charged for my free birthday (email) appetizer, that I mentioned prior to ordering, but I was at the OTHER table, sharing a few minutes with the rest of my family, when the bill was brought and paid and I didn't think about it, until we got home. First thing on the receipt is Fried Pickle App @ $4.49. This is not about being charged for the appetizer though, it's the whole being split apart from my family, after jumping through all the right hoops! read more

Everything was excellent including the salad potato and the rolls. I wish there was one near each part of the country that I live. Yes, this is a chain and has been reviewed 1,000's of times. I have eaten at many of these locations and can honestly say I've never been disappointed. The parking lot was jammed when I arrived a little after 6:00 on a Tuesday evening and I was sure I'd be in for a long wait. Surprise, surprise I was seated within 5 minutes!! My server, Madison, was prompt to take my order and bring my drink. Despite the crowd she checked with me several times throughout the meal to see if I needed anything. On this visit I went with the sirloin with a baked potato and green beans. The steak was done to perfection (medium rare) and the potato was of an edible size, not one of those 2 pound monstrosities that some places give you. All-in-all another enjoyable dining experience. For that reason this chain is on my "go to" list when traveling and I recommend that you add it to yours. read more

I have been a regular at TRH for over 7 years, and have eaten probably hundreds of their ribeye steaks in CO, IA, MO, and KS. However, I cannot abide a restaurant that pawns off a cheaper, inferior cut of meat for an other. I ordered my usual medium 10 oz. ribeye. I was served a thin, pale, bland nasty thing that was maybe a step up from a round steak. It looked like it had artificial grille marks and had been cooked in a microwave. I sent a complaint to corporate through their website and have not gotten a response. After doing a little research, it appears that this is not an isolated incident, but the 10 oz. "ribeye" that TRH is now serving nation-wide. It looks like the ribeye was swapped about the same time they added their bone-in ribeye to the menu. Maybe in June 2012? I haven't eaten at a TRH since June 2012 when I lost my job, and, just went back after now having a job for a few months and had a busy day Christmas shopping with my wife. Any steakhouse where I need to reach for the steak sauce has gotten the kiss of death from me. It is sad to say "Good-Bye!" to a restaurant that I have had so many enjoyable meals, but just like Lonestar before... "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!" I will not be going back to TRH. Outback is now my regular steakhouse, and Longhorn is where I go to celebrate or impress family. I will miss the "free" peanuts, but I have always preferred Outback's bread any ways. read more
