Yum! Be sure to order a chocolate or almond croissant. They're the best. You will be greeted with friendly service and a really cute space. There is a covered outdoor garden patio on the left side of the mural. I ordered a Tuscan wrap also. It was pretty good, but if you come here, you definitely grab a croissant. This is my fourth time visiting Texas Scratch Kitchen while in town visiting family--and it never disappoints. If you're in the area, you absolutely must try the ham and cheese croissant. Ask them to warm it up--the green onions baked inside give it the most amazing flavor. It's such a unique and delicious touch. Their coffee is consistently great too. I especially enjoy their macchiato--smooth, bold, and just the right amount of richness. Everything at this bakery is made with care, and you can really taste the quality. Love the cute little place. Best stop if you're in the area. I got some amazing goat soap, my husband got some coffee and we fought over the bread pudding. It was so good! I want to drive back just for that (and it's like a 4 hour drive). The ladies were very attentive and sweet. 100% recommend. The apricot turnover was good, the cinnamon roll was huge, but definitely try the bread pudding. It's a little gooey, a little sticky and has the pecans on top to make it heavenly. read more

Every time I go through Menard I try to stop. Even if I'm NOT hungry. The bread pudding is fantastic as well as the service. Got to try the sourdough yesterday and it's some of the best bread I've had in the US. The people are always good except I got in trouble with my wife for not bringing more home with me! "They didn't have a chocolate croissant? Yes honey they did, and it looked very good. Then you didn't love your wife enough to bring her one?" I guess I'm in trouble again. Go there. Menard is such a cute town. I have a river house there. I'm heading down there this weekend. Will definitely visit the Scratch Kitchen. Love their pastries, salads, their pizza, and so much more. There is so much I can't get enough of at The Scratch Kitchen. I have no favorite thing from The Scratch Kitchen, cause I love it all. Quick back story on how the girls started the bakery. The girls dad is from England. The girls lived in England for a while. They came back and wanted pastries like they had in England. So, the girls opened a bakery in Menard. Will 100% Recommend this bakery to anyone. Will give them 5 stars. The bakery is a top teer bakery. read more

The new has not yet worn off this bakery/sandwich/coffee shop, which opened in September 2023. Everything is new, clean, and orderly. The service is quick, with a good but limited selection of pre-boxed sandwiches and salads. There are also sweets freshly baked. Seating is limited, but it is a pleasant and tastefully decorated space. read more

A jewel is the best way to rate it. Diamond! Who would think a tiny town such as Menard could provide FIRST CLASS French type pastries, sandwiches, salads and more? But 'sur nuf' it's here. Coming from the North, after crossing the bridge and THE traffic light, slow down to about 25. The precious bakery will be on your right. A few blocks beyond the light, JUST after a motel (on the right) is the bakery. Turn Right on the South side of the motel for parking. Great place, don't miss it. Early a.m. til 2 p.m. Beautiful staff, surroundings, and food you won't forget! Tuesday thr Sat. From South: When the school zone sign appears, slow way down. The bakery will be on your LEFT. A white building that was once a filling station! Great stuff. Turn between the bakery and a motel. Outdoor tables (shaded) are peaceful and relaxing. There are some indoor seats as well. Great little hidden gem. The churro iced coffee was delicious and the latte was top tier! Their baked goods are scrumptious- I had the pecan tart . The sirloin sandwich was good but since it was refrigerated the bread was a little hard, I should have asked for it to be warmed, so texture not great but flavor was all there. Incredible pastry, incredible latte, and incredible sourdough. I will have to stop here every time I drive through Mernard! Such a treat.

What an oasis!! Lovely space, amazing food, and a nice lady. I had a chocolate hazelnut bread pudding and an americano. They also had ready made sandwiches, salads and pizzas in their refrigerated case. Nice shaded seating outside. They have a record player so the background music is good, it would be a good place to hang out for a bit. Will go out of our way to take this route again. read more

We were driving through Menard on our way home. We wanted a meal for a vegetarian and one who is not. What a gem this place was! There were fresh plant-based salads and freshly made sandwiches. We had one of each and they were absolutely delicious! The iced teas were so refreshing and oh! the pastries were to die for! We hope to come back again soon! read more

On a long drive from Colorado, we ran across this bakery today and we loved it. The food was fresh and great tasting. The coffee was great as well. Service was quick and friendly and I even took home some take and bake cinnamon rolls. They have a nice selection of prepared foods besides the pastries. We will definitely stop in again. read more
