Laura at the north office is very detailed, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. Which for a newbie to CPAPs like me was very welcomed.

The other reviews mentioning extremely poor communication is spot on. Getting an initial appointment took a lot of persistent effort on my end. I've never been able to reach someone on the phone - the only way to communicate appears to be their online portal. The responses are slow (if they respond at all), incomplete and often don't even address my questions. After my initial consultation I was told that the office would be reaching out to schedule a sleep lab. This did not happen, I needed to call repeatedly, leave multiple messages, reach out via the portal, etc. When I did get a response I was told that there was no openings available and that they would reach out once their June bookings became available. A week into June I reached out again and again, only to be told that all bookings in June were filled. After the sleep study, I had my review with Dr. Sabina. I had some additional questions after the meeting so I reached out via the portal - the person who responded suggested I get a sleep study done (clearly unaware of my history with the office and the fact that I already had my sleep lab done and review). I reminded them that I already had one conducted and reminded them what the findings were. They apologized, but never answered my questions. I followed up asking my same original question. No response. I just followed up again and am now looking for treatment elsewhere. During my search I found all of these reviews and decided to add mine. Communicating with the office requires a herculean effort on the patient's part and immense amount of patience. I do not recommend. read more

I was seen by Sabina Lin on April 23rd after being referred by my doctor for a sleep study. We had a quick talk and she said she would be requesting a 3 night at-home sleep study from my insurance. After not hearing from the office for over 2 weeks, I called and was told that they had not received my coverage info from my insurance. I called back a few days later and was told the same thing, so I decided to call my insurance. My insurance said they had zero contact from Texas Sleep Medicine and immediately offered to call their office while I was on the line with them. The office staff said their benefits coordinator Mary Ann was out of the office, so my insurance rep left her a very detailed message explaining how they can call to verify my coverages and verify if prior authorization is needed. I called Texas Sleep Medicine back a few days later, which was now over 3 weeks since I had originally been seen by them, and found that they still had not done anything on their end to verify my coverages with my insurance. Today, I received an email from Ashley Hernandez that said they would be willing to schedule my sleep study without insurance for $700 if I would like to go that route. After they had not contacted my insurance for over three weeks, they were suggesting I go the cash-pay route for $700 rather than use the insurance I was begging them to contact for weeks. Waiting over three weeks simply to verify insurance is completely unacceptable, especially when my insurance has reached out to Texas Sleep Medicine directly to assist. Do not waste your time trying to work with Texas Sleep Medicine. Their office staff is completely inept and their office managers have no clue what is going on with their patients. read more

I had to laugh about the previous response. The person was right on. Replacing customer service with AI is an excuse not to pay human beings to do a job. I was referred a week and a half ago and have been trying to get a hold of somebody ever since the referral has been sent over three times. I ask if there is a different number because there is no way to get a hold of a human being even when you ask for one it goes to an AI voicemail. Please don't ask me to call in to speak to somebody since there's physically no way to get a hold of anybody. This is the worst service I have ever received from a medical provider. It's hard to reach a human being on the phone, and when I do, the call gets dropped. TSM scheduled me for an appointment and conducted the pre-appointment phone call to confirm. Then I got the message that there was no appointment after all. I tried to book an appointment with a provider, but the receptionist kept trying to transfer me to DME. Finally I said loudly and slowly that I want to see a dr, so I now have a video appt. I had a very important sleep issue that I needed to discuss, so I saw the nurse. His response? My CPAP numbers were OK, and he knew nothing else about sleep. Sleep has neurological aspects as well, so I had to book another appt w/ the nurse and the dr had to attend as well. I still did not receive guidance. The icing on the cake is that my husband used the auto scheduler to make an appointment. We drove all the way to the facility to find that it was closed. These people are highly disorganized, and I regret using them as providers. I will add that toward the beginning of the treatment, the DME person I dealt with was extremely rude. Insurance was wrong on a matter, and I told her so, but she insisted they were right. They absolutely were not; I confirmed that later. The most frustrating and disheartening healthcare experience I've ever endured. Over two months ago, I had my initial appointment, yet the physician never submitted the prior authorization (PA) for my medication--despite more than a dozen follow-up attempts via both the web portal and phone. After waiting over six weeks for a follow-up appointment, I was told, without explanation, that they were "unsure what happened." Now, preparing to leave the country, I made it clear I had just one week to get the PA approved. I was told this would not be possible due to the medication being "too new," and was advised to pay completely out of pocket if I wanted the prescription in time. This, after already being double-charged and repeatedly billed for appointments that delivered no care or resolution. I have spent hours navigating a disorganized system, met with rudeness, passive-aggression, and a staggering lack of accountability at every turn. It's a sad commentary on our healthcare system when it's easier to obtain benzodiazepines in Mexico than it is to access a safer, more appropriate option like daridorexant in the U.S. For someone who averages four hours of sleep a night, this experience has been more than frustrating--it's been demoralizing. read more

Went in because my doctor won't do surgery if I have sleep apnea. Went to pick up a sleep ring for a 1 night study. Dropped it back off, got a call later and was told I did not have sleep apnea. They charged my card without my authorization. On top of that, just went to the doctor, GUESS WHAT? I have sleep apnea! It says it plain as day in the test results. This office is one of the most unprofessional and inefficient medical offices I have ever visited. They lack the ability to follow through on even the most basic tasks. Call backs are not honored and text messaging is offered with similar results. They don't seem to understand the seriousness of being diagnosed with a sleep disorder. That is made clear by the lackadaisical manner in which they respond to patients needs when referred for cpap or bipap treatment. There is no sense of urgency or care. The practice physician, Mr. Gowda....I cannot refer to him as "doctor" because even after a repeated request for a call from him, there has been no interaction. In essence, I cannot confirm his credentials. More alarming, he is not active in communicating with his team in order to be assured the patient's needs are being met. The organization is problematic from the top down. Avoid this office. Can you imagine compliance reports being handled by this practice? In addition, both Andrew, and Bianca give lip service to "patient care" but do not seem to actually "care". The nurse practitioner Shane does not respond to clinical concerns in a timely fashion. She conducted a video visit without requisite medical records. The original visit was rescheduled at my request because the office had not obtained results of the polysomnography, sleep study). The staff was advised the appointment would not be beneficial if sleep study results as well as relevant medical history were not available. I've reached the end of my tether with these people. After years of frontline screwups, this is the last straw. Very first experience, after diagnosed w apnea, it took six weeks for them to get it together enough to put in an order for the equipment. Fast forward five? years of one hassle after another - I needed a regular appt., couldn't be seen for two months - ridiculous for an established patient who sees them for 15 minutes tops on zoom but there it is. They scheduled me and also said they'd put me on a waiting list. It's the end of 2 months, I called to verify the time of the appt at the end of this week - it has been removed from the calendar. Hard to be mad at them - I obviously should have left after the very first experience because it never gets better than that. Also you'll never see the actual doctor. It's hard to imagine that the front line is this terrible but the actual medical work is awesome. I've never seen that. The people doing the medical work don't care or this would have been fixed years ago. This is nearly the 100th review for f*cks sake. My advice is don't even get started. I dealt with Texas Sleep Medicine North Office. In seven months of dealing with them, I never saw the physician Dr. Gowda (although I was billed for seeing him). I had difficulty with my CPAP. The machine showed disappointing improvement in events per hour. They had me do a second sleep study to confirm whether the machine was accurately measuring events. When I returned to learn the results and get advice on how to proceed, the nurse's assistant that I met with was unaware of the second study and unable to discuss the results or give advice on how to proceed. Fortunately, my PCP has referred me to another sleep doctor who has met with me and given good advice. read more

She claimed to be the office manager and refused to put me through to an actual nurse or physician so I could get answers and formally complain. I had my original sleep study done elsewhere several years ago. That place gave me no support or followup and I was not successful using the CPAP machine. Luckily, Texas Sleep Medicine was able to use the original sleep study to get a new machine. The support and followup there has been great. And I now use my CPAP successfully almost 100% of the time. At first I had followup appts every 6 months to answer all my questions. Everything is going really well. I definitely recommend them. COVID has been around since I started with them, so I have only had 1 or 2 appointments in person. And the rest have been tele-med. Not to mention I accidentally omitted a med on one sheet but put it on another and was accused of drug seeking due to the fact that I was REQUIRED to see a diff doctor for that RX and a specialty pharmacy bc no one else carries it. Gowda didn't even bother to ask me before contacting my other doctor and making his Wildly ridiculous accusations, to which that doctor responded by refusing to continue to treat me. And in general, the office had really bad vibes. Probably the incompetent lazy staff projecting those negative vibes. Been going here since 2015. Got diagnosed with narcolepsy and on Xyrem. I love Monique (see the most), Shane is cool (saw sometimes), and Gowda was fine (only spent a few minutes with him a few times). However, I did have issues with the scheduling and billing departments. After nine months of calling, visiting, etc., I finally left a review about these issues. Fortunately this got me a meeting with the office manager and I got my money back. I updated my review and things went along fine for a few years. I brought my partner with similar issues here in hopes of getting him help. The docs had him do a take home sleep study and we made sure multiple times what the cost would be, but then he was repeatedly unable to get the onsite narcolepsy diagnosing sleep study. That's because the take home sleep study was "unpaid." I tried talking with the billing manager and their information just didn't add up. The billing manager said they verified benefits on 1/1/18 and that's when they got the quote, nine months before the date of service in Sept '18. My partner wasn't even a patient as of 1/1/18 and the plan didn't even start until 1/29/18. The billing manager read me the insurance ID they used and it's incorrect! But the billing manager still wouldn't budge and refused further treatment unless we paid several hundred dollars we didn't agree to. So based on my previous experience, I left another review about the billing department, hoping to get this sorted out. Unfortunately, I got a letter via certified mail from Gowda that I was no longer going to be a patient at Texas Sleep Medicine because, "the physician patient relationship has significantly deteriorated." Now, I would consider my physician to be Monique because that's who I actually have a relationship with, but NOT Gowda. Like I mentioned, I only saw him once or twice and for a few minutes at most. Even if we consider Gowda to be my physician, I had no problem with him. He'd been fine! My complaints and reviews were specifically about the billing department, not Gowda. And for the reviews that prompted this letter, it wasn't as a patient about my experience, it was as a significant other about a different patient. Try as I might, I was unable to talk or meet with Gowda at all. I wanted to work together to try and figure something out that worked for the both of us. I was willing to compromise and made this clear, but I was left to fend for myself, albeit with my medical records. Anyway, I had a few horrible, panicked, and anxious months but finally found Dr. Kent Jones at ARC (Austin Regional Clinic) and would definitely recommend him. read more

She confirmed that the company assigned to fulfill the CPAP order did receive the order and will be processing it. Bianca said the original order was sent in March, but the fulfillment company stated they never received it and never got a call to confirm receipt. I'm updating review to be 3 stars instead of 1 due to Bianca's swift and polite follow up. **ORIGINAL** There is a global back order on CPAP machines, yes. So I don't fault the long waiting times for the CPAP on Texas Sleep Medicine. However the staff here can be hard to reach at times, and they did not send out the order for my CPAP in a timely fashion. My sleep study was in March, and was told the order was put in for my machine but it would be a few months wait until I could get the machine. I followed up last week and my NP Kelly told me that the backlog was cleared over a month ago and that I seemed to have "fell through the cracks" and she would make sure it got squared away asap. I called the company that is assigned to fulfill the CPAP order to see how long the wait will be. Turns out Texas Sleep Med never sent over the original order to them, from my sleep study in March. They had no order for me. When I called Texas Medicine to confirm the order had been sent, they said they sent it on 9/15 or either early this morning 9/16. Now it will be an additional few months wait because they failed to submit the order in a timely fashion. In addition, Laurie or Laura on the phone was irritated and complained that I called back to verify that the order was actually sent in. You have to stay on top of them, call multiple times, leave voicemails that may go unanswered. PLEASE save yourself the hassle and use another sleep medicine company. Bianca office manager misrepresented herself as the manager of the practice and claimed she directly reported to Dr. Gowda. My nurse practitioner no showed her appointment with me and then they called me to same day schedule me for a couple hours later. Then they claimed I did not show for the appointment without providing me any time-stamped evidence. Bianca said she would investigate and get back to me. After a few days without hearing from them I reached out again, and then Bianca called me to tell me she had to "hear back from the software people", but they were still standing by their claim that I no-showed for my appointment. Bianca now tells me the practice manager (who she refused to bring up in previous calls as again, she misrepresented herself) named Larry will be reaching out to me. I will be reporting them to the BBB if they continue to pursue their $75 bogus collection fee. read more

My initial experience with Dr. Mulvany was positive. She seemed caring and interested in why I came in to see her. That wasn't the issue. The issue is in their horrid front office staff. One of the ladies (not sure of her name) has an absolutely abhorrent attitude and tried to accuse me of not doing my paperwork when I came in for my appointment despite my bringing it in IN PERSON before I was even scheduled. But the worst part of that office is the fact that not only can't you get ahold of anyone, their voicemail box is full. That's it. No way of reaching them. I've been a patient of this office for around 3 years. The initial appointment was with Dr. Gowda who concluded I should have a sleep study based on our preliminary review of symptoms. The sleep study was comprehensive, convenient and professional. The results were undeniable. I needed a CPAP machine. All equipment, the study, and all subsequent replacement supplies have been 100% covered by Medicare (with supplemental insurance). All follow-up appointments have been with the doctor's nurse practitioner, Monique Mulvany, and have been completely satisfactory. She carefully reviews ongoing progress and is ready to modify equipment orders at my request when improved masks become available. I've changed face mask several times to improve my comfort, and this office has made the process remarkably easy. It's useful to understand that after the initial study, the equipment prescription for Medicare patients (and probably other insurance providers) needs to be handed off to an approved equipment supplier. That supplier, in turn, needs to receive all the appropriate forms from the medicare (or other insurer) system. The time lag is weeks. It can be frustrating. Once the approvals are completed, a visit is scheduled with the supplier (XMED) which can add more time. Welcome to the world of insurance and "medicare approved" suppliers. None of this takes away from what I believe was a very positive, professional experience with a very busy sleep disorder practice. I'm sleeping perfectly and the follow-up experience has been great. Even that equipment supplier has proven to be reliable and thoroughly helpful, even if the initial experience was maddening. read more

Not only does she find ways to save me time and money (like, using telemedicine instead of making patients and doctors drive to some location or being more than willing to allow a 90-day prescription instead of the 30-day script that is automatic), she is compassionate and easy to talk to. She tries to make the whole process as easy as possible and since I'm in my 70's I truly appreciate it. read more
