Great followup service - fast service response, too! We bought an exterior motorized screenshade (tobacco color) from them & we love it...ordered in April, installed in June. The price seemed high, but we are very happy w/it & are even happier to know how they stand behind their product. I called my salesman Tom M this week (mid-August) because the remote stopped working & he sent the repair guy out next day (right on time, too) & found that it was our porch GFI plug tripped, not even their issue, no charge. We recently bought a house where they installed the outdoor and indoor window shades a couple years ago. They were malfunctioning and TS&S refused to come check what the problem was, unless we bought all new shades and a system for them to install. That is just crazy. 1 star: do not recommend working with this company. They have zero customer service; our installation date took 4 months longer than expected and we heard zero updates unless we called multiple times. The technician who came to install was not trained on our particular product, and I was told we would receive a call with training instructions the next day...which weeks later, we have still not received. Surprise surprise. Definitely call one of the many other local companies who do this instead. They were very prompt to call to collect payment though! read more

We recently contracted Texas Sun & Shade to deploy automated shades around our home with about 36 windows. This was no small undertaking. Tom and Team did an excellent job of communicating and meeting our expectations. Post install there have been some minor hiccups related to on-premise environment stuff which they have addressed promptly. We will use them again. read more

Shades seem good quality. Took 3 months from first meeting to have them installed. There were two scheduling mistakes on their part- a no show and arriving at the wrong time. When they came to install the shades, they installed the wrong color shade (grey instead of white) and one of the installers had a mask that wasn't covering his nose. Some of the customer service people are helpful but others were rude and unhelpful. read more

First it was difficult to get an estimate for repair scheduled. Couldn't just talk to someone, it had to be through a form which didn't work on my computer. Finally did get ahold of a person, and got an appointment scheduled, but over an hour past the scheduled window of time, NOBODY SHOWED UP or called. I have called and complained, waiting to hear back. If they correct this problem, I'll try to amend this review or write a better one. For now, I am disgusted; This USED to be a great company. Texas Sun and Shade have become a Horrible organization. I worked with them in the past, using Lane as a sales rep and Justin for service, over 15 years, always pleasant and responsive. I spent tens of thousands of dollars on awnings at my house; lately, the system required maintenance, but for no reason, they declined service, stating they do not deal with the kind of system they installed!!! I talked with Londi and Omar in Service Department; they were hopeless; when I asked to speak with the manager Mrs. Baires (abaires@txsunandshade.com), she never returned my request for a talk. I stupidly hired them to do work on another property before I saw their work on the first property. This company installed motorized shades in my downtown condo in 2008. Afterwards when a repair was needed they were extremely responsive. In May 2021 I called for a repair and to schedule replacement on shades given age. I was told they do not schedule by phone and forms were required. Those forms arrived via email in July 2021. I completed the forms in September (this is a second home). Two months have passed and still no contact. Very disappointing given how service oriented they were in the past. read more

Worst customer service experience ever. We reached out in August 2020 ahead of a new tenant moving into our rental and we didn't have our final shades installed until March of 2021. It was the 2nd installation because the first blinds were ripped when they were installed. It seemed like no one at the company talked to each other, and after I asked for a discount for the extreme delays, issues, and problems caused, they sent me to collections agency instead of returning my calls. Worst company and service. Would give them back if we hadn't had to tear down our own curtains to make room for the installation (something the original sales rep said we wouldn't have to do). This company has been amazing to work with. I have had my solar screen for 3 years. Their install was smooth and easy. I had my first service call with them recently at about 8am, they had it fixed by 11 the same day. I did get a little bit of luck with scheduling. My rep (who emailed me back with minutes) did mention they had a busy week, but due to a cancellation it was fixed within a few hours. Just amazing! Thank guys! read more

They will sell you the blinds but will not service your blinds in a timely manner. 1 of my shades will not go up or down, I was told they are 4 months out to come reprogram my shade. We bought three electric shades from this company a few months ago for our gym. About two months ago, the longest of the shades gave out and it has been a nightmare just to get someone out here to fix the shade from this company. First you have to fill out a form and include pictures, then they contact you with a date, which is about another month out..it is an inconvenience. Then, when the service technician comes out he is unprepared. They take off the shade and determine that the motor burned out, which they can replace but don't have the part on hand, rather at their office. By this time, we had to leave, however the tech says they will come back the next day. they don't, not even a phone call..nothing...we reached out again to them saying that the shade they left was on the floor and we still haven't heard back from them... a week from that day, and after two messages left at their office, no one has reached out! The last person we spoke to last week said that they couldn't last week because they service the surrounding areas of Austin on certain days..I mean come on!!! In June we ordered shades for our patio. From the moment Kade came to our home to measure and take the order to the time of installation, everything was very professional. We loved the showroom where the shades we ordered were demonstrated. This gave us a very clear picture of what they would look like on our patio. Because of Covid, we were not sure we could get our shades before November, however, they arrived and were installed this week. All along the way we were kept informed of the timeline, and after installation we received a follow-up call to check on our satisfaction. We originally bought awnings 15 years ago. At that time the awnings were good quality and the service they provided was good. When we had to replace the awnings the product arrived about 9 months past the time they were originally promised. I had to call them multiple times to get the shipping status. They rarely ever returned our calls. Eventually the awnings arrived. When they finally came to install the replacement awnings they took several days to install them because they didn't come prepared with the tools and supplies needed for the installation. 3 months after the installation one of the awnings stopped working. After calling them to repair the broken awning they took another 2 months before coming to repair it. They got it working and told me that the motor was faulty. I asked them to replace the faulty motor while it was still in the warranty period. They showed up without any advance notice. They said they didn't know what kind of motor it was, so they needed to look at it. They left and now the awning doesn't work again. This has been a very frustrating situation. Their lack of coordination, communication and service has been awful. I don't recommend this company. read more

The same owner of Texas Sun and Shade owned VASA (out of business of course) and won't even come work on my shades because we did not purchase them directly from Texas Sun and Shade. We had exterior screens installed about 15 years ago. The quality and service then were very good. We recently had two separate minor mechanical issues and discovered the current staff at Texas Sun & Shade has no interest in servicing our product. Upon placing an initial call I was told that the service department would contact me to schedule. That never happened. After multiple calls, I finally drove the nearly 20 miles to their store and stood in their lobby in order to get service. I only needed a small bracket that holds the thin (1/8" steel cable) guide wire on the shades. Last week one of the cables actually broke rendering the shades unusable. Once again after reporting the problem I was told the service department would contact me. I called back after hearing nothing so they sent me a form to complete which I submitted immediately. To date I have received no contact from them (15 days). The cable is readily available at Home Depot, however, we're an elderly couple and cannot get up on the ladder, remove the cover, and replace the cable. Their motto of "exemplary service" is a joke. read more

I called Texas Sun and Shade after I had already called another company to fix my Somfy Solaris wind and shade sensor. The other company, came out and just eyeballed it and said it was going to cost me $1,000.00 to fix it. He didn't even get on my roof to take a look. The very tall young man, I can't remember his name, from Texas Sun and Shade arrived an hour and a half early!! He was extremely professional as well as very thorough. He climbed on my roof and said the sensor only needed adjusting and charged me only $80.00!! Thank goodness I called Texas Sun and Shade!! You get what you pay for!! The young man also said they would come out and adjust the sensor more if I had any further problems. I highly recommend their customer service!! read more

I ordered our shades in March of 2021. Due to Covid and supply chain issues I was told it would take 10-12 weeks. I understood the issue and agreed. It is now 4/13/22 and I just finalized my shade installation (more than 1 year later). I've never written a review before but there was no way I could skip over this horrible experience. It was not due to supply chain demands (I'm in the business), but I was only offered an apology for my experience and no real reason or even a free remote or something for my experience - I even asked if I would be given a discount at all since I went a whole summer without my shades which was why I ordered them in the first place. "I'm sorry ma'am, we don't give discounts for delays". When the shades FINALLY came in months and months after I was promised, some of the parts were ordered in the wrong color. Once again I had to wait. Then, they installed them and in one spot ruined the stucco on my custom home. I sent pictures and again, they apologized but nothing else. It took months for someone to come out again (after promising several times to be out to fix it but they never would show up) and finally fix it. It looked horrible. In addition to that my remote doesn't work all the time and is unreliable for one of the shades. Then to top it all off I received a "Past Due" invoice for the remainder of the balance. Past Due? It was only finalized 2 weeks ago after waiting for over a year for a product that should have been installed within a couple of months. Icing on the cake, when I called to pay the invoice over the phone I had to leave a message on a voicemail that says "We'll be closed 12/31-1/3 and Happy New Year"! Today is April 13th! Their lack of attention to detail, professionalism, customer service is quite possibly the worst I have seen - EVER. read more

I love this family owned business. They have done 3 separate installs for us. Our home is floor to ceiling Windows around the whole house and we first called them out for sun shades on our master bedroom to cut out the excessive light (for afternoon naps) and also the heat from the scorching Texas sun. Then 2 years later we had them come install one on the large window in our main living space where often times the sun flared into the TV so bad that we couldn't even watch it. Also helped with late afternoon sun. And now today, we have them installing 2 more shades in our dining room area. Again to help cut down on heat and save on our electric bill. These people are the nicest to work with, the guys that do the installing are really nice too. Love my new shades! We put them up to keep the out door pot plants from freezing. We were tired of brining them in every time it froze! Boy did it do the trick, in this past freeze of 26 and 25 the patio only got down to 38! Nothing froze! We've used them on two houses now!
