Love Texas Tacos and so happy they are around the corner. It's a perfect place to handle your taco fix. And the service is always so great too. Come early at 5am? No problem. They are open! We love any of their breakfast tacos thats served all day, especially the sausage and egg or chorizo/egg. You can also get some tasty tamales, $12/dozen. They will give it to you or boil it up for you so that they're piping hot (the best!). So many things to love but if you're going to get something, get the al pastor tacos. Sooo good and flavorful. read more

Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet! It's pretty much my go-to for breakfast tacos. I started going to Texas Taco years back. They used to be in a small shack off of Little York and Windfern but have since moved to this location. I've never had a breakfast taco that I didn't like here, and the salsas are delicious. Pricing is very reasonable. They load their breakfast tacos up, even the more pricier items that some places really skimp on (i.e. bacon) I wish their new location had a drive thru, but I'm not holding it against them. For the menudo lovers out there, my husband says their menudo is pretty good. His favorite places to go to for that are pretty far (and weirdly always seem to be inside a small supermarket lol). But since Texas Taco has tacos, he enjoys the menudo here from time to time. I don't love menudo like that, so I can't comment on it. Northwest Houston, definitely check it out! read more

I didn't like it. I called it in on my way there, because I'm on a 15 break from work and have to get back. I stop by Starbucks 1st to give them time to prepare my order and when I arrive to this taco place. No customers in there and the owner is outside chatting with his friend, they didn't even start to make my order. I bite into the taco, it taste like the tortilla was made days before and warmed up, it had a refrigerated taste. Also the bacon taste like it was made the day or so before. They just pulled it out of a container where they stored precooked bacon. I was disappoint, I gave my co worker my other taco. Meh. read more

I was craving a torta and happen to be leaving the dollar tree across the way from Texas Tacos. Their sign on the building is TX tacos tortas & tacos. So I went off of the few yelp reviews and gave this local business a try since I live in Jersey Village. I got there 45 mins before closing and ordered my beef fajita torta to go.. I grew up in SE Houston basically in Pasadena. I might me Asian but I know good Mexican/ Latin foods. One of my neighbors was El Salvadoran and one was from Mexico so I grew up eating foods from at both houses since I was good friends with their daughters/ grand daughters. My friends now good Viet food as well since my mom was always in the kitchen cooking.. (This is why I am a pretty good cook myself). Pros: the beef fajita had flavor, moist not dry. Cons: the bread wasn't toasted much, lacked refried beans, hardly any cream, and NO AVOCADO ... I don't think I will be back for a torta here. read more

Most people will drive by and never notice this place. The sign is like a small star. But I think this is how you're supposed to eat Menudo and Pupusas and get the best experience. In a place where there is no AC, poor ventilation, and a grill running non-stop. The focus here is on the food and not necessarily the presentation or anything else. I love it. I've been eyeballing this little place for years mostly because it boasts pupusas and tortas. I'm here at 8:00 in the morning and even though I wanted a pupusa, I was so hungry I just took the first thing available which was a barbacoa taco as far as I could tell. I probably could have ordered something different and a pupusa probably wouldn't have taken much longer, but my stomach was not willing to wait. I ordered two barbacoa tacos and managed to eat only one. They are stuffed with meat. Worth the $2.50. very nice friendly staff and the owner is very amiable. Welcoming me back the next day. Little does he know I might be back later today for a papusa. I have physical therapy in the area which is why I was here today. But now that I know about this location and their hours which are 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., we will probably be back for some tortas for lunch. You cannot go wrong with a good torta. Dine-in seating is open and take out. I thought there was drive through but now that I'm thinking about it, I'm pretty sure the drive-thru is for the Starbucks on the other end of the shopping center. So it's dine in or carryout. Definitely recommend for breakfast tacos. I saw a customer come in and it appeared as if he is very much a regular. Ordered the chicken fajita torta for $6, and it tasted quite tasty. The guy working was jovial, but it seemed to be somewhat like an episode of good cop/bad cop; Or should I say good cook/bad cook with his older, heavier, female colleague. She wore a stern expression the whole time and when I told her that I wanted a chicken torta, she told me that "I'd need to wait while the bread was grilled" (as if I was trying to jump the counter to grab the uncooked torta bread). When she brought the food to our table, I confirmed what I had ordered by politely saying 'I got the chicken fajita torta' and in a moment of unfettered eloquence, she replied with, "Yes," the scowl still prevalent on her face. The food was enjoyable and I liked chatting with the male employee, but the older lunch lady was either having a bad day or just needs a class in providing polite customer service. read more

I use to love getting tacos from this place every morning on my way to work. I moved so I wasn't as convenient for me to drive out here. So today I drove the extra miles and minutes only to bite into my taco and find a roach. I am completely disgusted, and really hurt I was mid bite of my taco. I don't know why this place has such good ratings but these tacos are worse than okay. They served me potatoes straight out of the fridge on my potato and egg taco. The tortillas are not homemade and don't taste good, the tortillas from HEB are better. Pupusas are not fresh either. If you want real pupusas go to Cafe Latino about a mile away. Other restaurants or taquerias around the area have better tacos as well. read more

I used this deal where you get 2 Tacos, 2 pupusas, beans, rice, and soda all for $10! Pros: The pupusas are amazing, I'm a huge fan of the revueltas (pork and cheese). I got a chicken taco and a beef fajita taco- they were not only really good...the meat, cheese, onions, cilantro and pica de gallo were wonderfully stuffed in the flour tortilla, yum! The owner is super sweet and hilarious. He's great to have a conversation with while you wait for your food to be prepared. Con: It takes time for the food to be prepared, so if you're in a rush- I don't recommend it. However, it's just the two owners running everything so you can't blame them. Great price, great flavors. On Friday's they have Pupusas for 1$ and that's a great price. Love their food and I will definitely be back here again and again!!! One of the best taco joints I know of! I pick up from this place often for big company breakfasts and have never had a single problem. The people are super nice and the tacos are always bomb! The barbacoa here is my favorite and boss man always knows I want the onions and cilantro on the side! Like I said, never a single issue and I've bought hundreds of tacos from them. Not sure where all of the rave reviews are coming from - maybe friends of the employees. I walked in and no one greeted me. They looked up and back down. I'm not a regular, maybe that's why? Ordered two kinds of breakfast tacos- sausage and egg (2 of these. One ended up in the trash) and the other bean and cheese (didn't know you could mess this up). Gross. I live in JV so I was so disappointed that it wasn't good. Won't be going back. read more

Excellent place to grab breakfast! Just moved close to this area and heard a lot of good things about this spot, so me and the family decided to try it out this morning. We had a variety of breakfast tacos. All of them were PACKED and delicious! My husband ordered a bowl of menudo that came with tortillas on the side, as well as onions, cilantro, and limes on the side. Let me just say, that menudo was THEBOMB.COM!!!!! I never order menudo anywhere because nothing compares to my grandma's menudo...like nothing comes close. The smell of this menudo is what got me. Took me straight back to Saturday morning breakfast at my abuela's house. I had to taste it and I'm so glad I did. I ended up eating 1/4 of my husband's bowl . It tasted JUST like my grandma's menudo. The tacos were really good, I was just personally blown away by the menudo. The staff is super friendly and the place is obviously very popular. We saw waves of all kinds of people coming and going as we ate our breakfast inside the restaurant. Lots of people are regulars...you can tell. We will definitely be going back again. I want to try their tortas and my husband wants to try their pupusas. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place. Try it out! read more

Tacos had 4x the meat you find in other tacos around town. More like a pile of meat with a tortilla on the side. Good luck finishing two $2 tacos. Had the menudo, was pretty good, pupusa was premade and lacking, tortillas are out of a package as well. Place was empty when I walked in, filled quickly with the line almost to the door. read more

The place is family owned and is overall very nice, they have a large selection of food but for me the best is still the pupusas. Since this is on my way to work I've become good enough friends with the clerk that I can call them in and pick them up on my way to work. They accept debit and credit card as well, really clean place but I'm not a fan of the taco read more

Only been here a couple times, but the owners are very polite and will try and fix up whatever your hearts content which is a great thing because my wife hates eggs...so I usually have to order off the menu when coming to small Mexican places like this. They've got menudo on the weekends, but I haven't had the opportunity so I'll have to come back and tell you guys about that next time I'm in for some breakfast tacos for the family. Stop by and give these guys your business because I'd hate to lose my only local breakfast tacos place that's just down the road.....granted, I can make my own at home, but who wants to cook on Saturday mornings? lol read more

My go-to place for breakfast tacos. They are open from 5 AM to 5 PM. Family-owned business and the owner is very friendly. He has the same smile on his face @ 4PM as he does @ 8 AM. I love their green salsa the most. This place is right next to starbucks so I get my breakfast and coffee in one go. read more

Amazing food. Barbacoa tacos were amazing pupusas with pork and cheese were the best I have had in years. But if you have a large order may not be the best place to go. I called in my order for eight tacos because I was in a huge hurry with my daughter. Walked up to the pickup order sign but for some reason the cashier ignored me and handled the walk up orders in front of the buffet then when no one else was in line took care of my order. She tried to charge me $25 for my $16 order next and needless to say my order was soggy and cold by the time I got back to the car and not worth even reheating. read more

Underrated gem in the Houston area. The owners are welcoming the minute you come in as well as he moment you walk out the door. The tacos are extremely fresh and authentic as well. The place is extremely clean and prices are great for tacos. They have a variety of options you can choose from and are able to customize it how you like. A NW Houston institution. I went to the original location on West Little York at Windfern for decades. I am so glad they opened this store. It is much closer to my office. Everything is good. But for sheer decadence, get a Texas Trash! Nothing like it anywhere. The staff is always super friendly and fast. This is what a taco shop should be. read more

I can't believe I am now just finding out about this little taco joint and I literally live 2 minutes away. Came here for the first time a few days ago and was impressed by the abundance of options for breakfast tacos! At first I thought $2 for a bf taco was on the pricier side but you get what you pay for! The super friendly worker loaded up my breakfast tacos generously. I bought two tacos but was so stuffed that i didn't even make it to my second one! The green salsa has a nice spicy kick to it! Came back on Friday for their $1 pupusa special and it brought back fond memories from the last time I ate them 15 years ago. Def my new go to place for my morning breakfast tacos!! read more

easily one of the best taco joints in the surrounding area. their home made salsa is also top notch. service is solid, the owner really cares and wants you to walk away satisfied. i still need to try out their breakfast tacos, but i can definitely recommend the pork and spicy fajita tacos. Pros: mom and pop shop, authentic, friendly service Cons: parking lot can be difficult to exit if you are making a left on Jones. overall, i definitely recommend trying this place out for lunch. the breakfast recommendation is still to be determined. read more

It's a small food truck located in the same parking lot with Fiesta off Paton and Cavalcade so there's no seating or real space to eat (unless you eat in your car). I have only had pupusas a handful of times (I'm from a small town in WA state that only had Mexican restaurants since only Mexicans lived there, so don't judge ) and can say these were the best I've had thus far. They were freshly made and piping hot when I got them (I had to put the bag down from my lap because it was too hot) and remained so throughout eating them. The cheese was gooey and stringy and their salsa has a nice little kick to it. It wasn't greasy or too salty which is always a plus. I ordered the revueltas (pork & cheese) and added beans to them. They are HUGE so be mindful when ordering them (they also taste better the next day if you have any leftover). These were definitely worth the price. New favorite coffee/study spot in Houston! This place is (I…read morethink?) in Montrose area, and a gem with parking both in front (with spaces) and street parking available. The baristas/servers are so friendly, and the shop truly feels homey. Perfection for studying, with inside ample tables/chairs with nearby outlets as well as some comfy chairs and a couch. There's also a cute covered outside area which I'm sure I'll experience post summer time. They have a few yummy looking food options at a great price point - including tamales and baked pastries. I picked the chicken tamale as a light lunch - I got the most delicious chicken tamale I've had thus far, served with kettle crinkle chips and a tamale sauce to dip. There are many coffee/non coffee options. I opted for the iced horchata latte - agree with prior reviewers that this is delish. It is not too sweet and a great blend of vanilla and cinnamon that masks the espresso. The atmosphere here is cozy but focused, with a mixture of people working/studying and hanging out. 10/10 will be back.

It is in a home-like structure with quirky furniture, but it makes me feel very much at home. The workers are also super nice and accommodating. The coffee is very reasonably priced and delicious. I always get their Horchata Latte---it is a perfect level of sweetness and the cinnamon complements the espresso perfectly (and it's only $5.50)! They have a variety of other drinks and pastries too, that I haven't been able to try. I highly recommend coming to study/catch up with a friend. There's a lot of coffee shops in the Montrose area but this has been one of my favorite.

Beware, they play loud Christian music. They have a small grocery store within the restaurant where you can find all types of Salvadoran products. I wanted a fruit drink and asked to try the cantaloupe juice first. It was artificial and too sweet. I'm glad I didn't order it. I was appalled when I saw the price of the fruit salad drink. It's $7.99. Who do they think they are? I inquired if they have a small size. They don't. I wonder how many folks purchase it. This is a low-income area. I got down to business and ordered a cheese and loroco pupusa. It was of course served with curtido (cabbage) and a tomato sauce. The pupusa was good but I've had better. The sauce was watered down. I would probably go back to have a pupusa if I'm in the area. But it's not my favorite place to have them.
