Favorite thrift shop in San Antonio. First off, just due to the sheer size of the store you are likely to find SOMETHING that you like. I used to live around the corner and would drop in when I was bored or had time to kill. You never know what you'll find here. It's like a real life treasure hunt. I found some Michael Kors heels, a Christian Dior handbag, and loads of designer jeans. This is also the perfect place to come for Halloween. I found all the stuff I needed for my Daenrys Targaeryn Halloween costume for under 15$! It might be worth mentioning that this isn't a fancy thrift shop. The fitting rooms are dirty, most of the employees could care less about helping you, and you need to probably take an antihistamine before walking in....but that's just the way it goes with thrift shops. All the staff I saw were very rude and not helpful. I came in closer to closing and online it said the store closed at 9 pm, but at 8:40 they were yelling at everyone very rudely saying "the store is now closed". I was sad, because I usually always find really great finds but it felt like all the employees just wanted everyone out. To management: make sure you train your employees to treat customers with KINDNESS and make sure they don't close early just because they want to go home. read more

I can see past the dirt, clutter and questionable patrons if the prices are good, but there was nothing redeeming about our visit. So... many... clothes...! It's sweater weather, and this place has everything! The store is huge, but is organized so well! Looks like it used to be a Lowe's, and they occupy about half the space of the building. There be treasure here! I've been looking for a 55+ cup coffee maker online for about a year, but I couldn't find anything I liked. On my 3rd visit to Texas Thrift, found a 100 cup coffee maker for $6.98! That's ridiculously cheap! Colored tags save you even more $$! Bathrooms are decent, although the odor suggests plumbing issues need to be addressed - but that's not really why I'm here The management is super nice, too! read more

I actually ALWAYS take a friend with me to this store. There is so much to look thru and I need an extra set of eyes (and arms to push around the cart! lol). It's so much fun and the prices are awesome. I got a really nice red poofy jacket (baby phat I think) for winter for $7.00. That's less than a meal from House of China at lunch-time! I was pretty excited to check out this place, too bad it sucked. It was extremely over priced. It seems as tho everything is priced while preparing for a 50% off sale. The price stickers are hand written which bothers me. There is absolutely no organization (except in the clothing aisles) things are just thrown on shelves.. Glass items with toys, ect. And items are stacked high it's a dangerous tipsy turvy of stuff. I didn't get a good vibe in the store. I'll stick to goodwill and try out other thrift stores in the area but I won't be back here. Overall this was a really good experience. Most of the employees were very nice and very hard-working. The entire time I was shopping employees were working really hard to straighten racks and get clothes, items out for display. The only negative thing I would say is there is a woman named Linda (middle-age woman) that is quite rude. She was working at the register behind the counter upfront. I walked over to her and for about a whole five minutes tried getting her attention and she stared at me and completely ignored me. I even said excuse me several times and I know she heard me but she completely ignored me. It was terribly odd and very rude. All I wanted to tell her was that I had to run out to my car and I was gonna leave my (full) cart by the door for a few minutes. She just didn't wanna be bothered I guess but I thought that was very rude. However, another young woman at a register close by saw that I was trying to get help and she helped me and was very polite. Overall great experience and I will definitely come back. The one thing I like about this store is that all their pants were hung by waist size, which is kind of rare in my experience. I found a great pair of Sonoma cargo pants in my exact size PLUS they were 50% off. What a steal for $4! Like I said, the clothing items are sorted properly and it looks like they make an effort to keep the items where they're supposed to be. The staff was very friendly and were able to answer all my questions. If I'm in the neighborhood again, I'll definitely stop in again! read more

Texas Thrift on Ingram rd. The designer purses behind the counter are displayed very poorly. They are hanging pretty much one on top of each other. I cannot distinguish what they are much less determine prices. I was there for designer purses to purchase at least two but became quickly discouraged as no one was available. This thrift store is horrible. The workers seem to hate their job because of toxic supervisors and leaders. The older lady that's usually at showcase never helps you when your looking in the section, she just acts like she doesn't see you until you have to command her attention. Not to mention it is poorly organized.. you can hardly see what is even towards the back of the showcase section. They are EXTREMELY overpriced , they think they are a department store! Also this store is FILTHY. Their clothes are often horribly stained and even then they ask exorbitant prices. The only friendly employees I've encountered are the younger employees and Charity, she is awesome and should be running the damn place to be frank. The older ladies "running The show" need an attitude adjustment or need to go and let some fresh wind revitalize this pathetic environment the employees have been subjected to. Large and well-organized thrift store with signs to clearly mark the different sections so it is easy to find what you want. Merchandise is separated by category and clothes are separated by type, size and color. Seemed to have a very large section of children's clothing. I didn't find anything that I coudln't live without on this trip, but I would shop here again. read more

Went there today and was hotter inside the store then outside. My daughter almost blacked out so we left. The lady at the register #5 was talking to the customer about pointless stuff and moving slow. We just left our basket to the side and left. Plus the three registers we're open but people were lined up down the isles. Making it hard to look for clothes in that location. read more

BIG store. Plan to spend a lot of time there if you are like me and have to look at everything. Decent customer service (much much better than their south side location!)... prices can be really great; found a room sized rug there once for $10 and bought my artificial Christmas tree there this year for FIVE dollars, 7 foot, pre-lit, perfect shape and still in the box! Worth the trip for me (I live on the other side of town) even though it makes me sneeze and want to wash my hands when I leave. Just kind of musty/dusty. Manager specials are great too. Bought a large, clean, modern microwave there for $5 during one of those "all electronics half off" deals. Can't beat that kind of pricing! Oh, and one thing about Texas Thrift in general is they have really good selections for kids clothes, whereas many other thrift stores do not. I DO like that the store is very big! I like that you can browse by color, and size in the adult clothing. I like that every holiday they offer 50% off of everything. I like that you can find anything from GAP to Old Navy to a few Levi items. I DON'T like that the parking lot is always trashy. Trash flying around everywhere. I don't like that the employees are rude. They don't smile. They put stuff out on the floor with no price tags, and then say they can't sell it to you. There were hangers all over the floor. The dressing rooms are SOOO SMALL! Can hardly slide in when the door is open. (I am pretty slim too.) I don't like that some things are overpriced. $6.99 for a sweatshirt that I could prob get at Target brand new for the same price. It's suppose to be thrift! I once brought in green bag with three items to be donated. I accidentally left an item in the bag that I didn't mean to donate, and when I called the main Medina Children's number they told me the bag was at this location. The employees, and manager told me I could not have the bag to get my item I accidentally placed in it. I was able to give them full description of the bag, and the few items in it. They still told me I couldn't. It was a long fight. I never got my item back. I assume they sold it on the floor. read more

Huge thrift store with a little of everything - they even have a creepy doll section! Clothing is separated by size, which makes it easy to shop. Large book section, but not much furniture. Tons of framed art, if you're looking to cannibalize the frames or find some cool offbeat art. Totally a fan of this Thrift Store. They are organized and price their clothing fairly. Some things are overpriced but what Thrift Store in San Antonio doesn't do this!? They have sale tags once a week and offer military/senior discount on Wednesdays which brings down the price a lot! Lots of shoes and clothes! Not a great selection of housewares that are up to date but the clothes and shoes are awesome! Staff isn't rude but they aren't overly friendly. But its a thrift store! They had a lot of clothes, but their prices are similar to new clothes you can buy at Wal-Mart for the same price. Everything I found was overpriced for being used. Aside from that, after searching around trying to find something not overpriced for my son, my 4 year old daughter suddenly has to pee. I ask them for a bathroom and they say they don't have one for public use. I told them my 4 year old has to go, she doesn't know how to hold it, is she just supposed to pee on your floor? They refused to let a 4 year old girl use the bathroom. I will never go back there. I had to hurry to the Sears place not too far away and pray they had a bathroom they would let her use before she wet herself. Luckily they did. I'm admittedly hooked to this gigantic thrift store. The ONE issue I have is that sometimes the clothes are overpriced, especially t-shirts. But there's heaps of everything here: furniture, shoes, purses...just tons of stuff in every category. It's fun to wander about in and everyone's really nice. read more

I had never been to this thrift store and my daughter and I like to go thrift shopping so we were excited to try it! I have to say as we went in looking for clothes that they have such a large selection and we got some great finds! I would have rated this experience higher if our experience wasn't ruined by the older manager in charge. She was so rude as we were waiting to be checked out and was like a drill sergeant ordering everyone to make different lanes and that each register had its own lane. She clearly didn't care who was there first and then even contradicted herself as the lines grew. Adding insult to injury she felt compelled to yell into the intercom that there was not one line and that all registers had a line! Omg I could not believe the un professionalism! All the customers waiting were also then commenting about her rudeness. I will say Maya was a superstar checking us out! She genuinely apologized for the way we were treated and was so professional! Thank You Maya! I felt so bad for her as we left because I thought if that manager is rude and confrontational with customers poor Maya must get treated horribly behind the scenes and she was a doll! You people that whine and complain about this store make me sick. If it weren't Tx Thrift, you'd be whining about something else. My kids grew up in clothes from this store. Clothes are hung up by size, try finding that at GoodWill. That won't happen. I find brand new Dress shirts, Polo, chaps, RL, with tags. Bought a pair of little used Sperry's shoes years ago and still they are my main pair of shoes. Try walking in GoodWill and finding a pair of 34 shorts. You'll have to go through 80 pairs, all different sizes, just hung up at random. Texas Thrift Ingram ROCKS. Tell me the name of any other Thrift that has a 50 OFF sale, store wide. Tell me, please. Large store with just about everything. They take the time to sort their clothes by size, gender and type which makes sifting through less tedious. They also write the sizes along with the price on a tag stapled to each item. Very cool. Prices are right along with other thrift shops, though the clothes generally are not in as good a shape as other places. Still, I usually come out with at least one good find. read more

Out of all of the thrift stores I have been in here in Texas, Texas Thrift is the one I pick to go to shop. I love the sale days--Mondays 99 cents for certain colors, Tuesdays for seniors, Thursdays for military--including those with just a VA card, and most major holidays 50% off and lots of time, there are sales on furniture and electronics and seasonal stuff. I realize that this is not a "non-profit" like Good Will or Salvation Army--but it sure helps me keep more in my wallet. A lot of their clothing is name brand and you can get a 50% off on designer purses on most federal holidays. read more

You can find some decent clothes... a bit pricey but still better than buying retail. The 50% off sales are a huge hit. I was a bit disappointed with the lack of organization at the first and last 50% off sale I will ever attend. The line wrapped around the store. I stood in line and did not move an inch for 20+minutes. Finally, I ran out of time and had to get going- making the tough decision to give up the items that I had spent the time to search for for my kiddo. As I was walking out with the items still in hand, I noticed a couple of other lines that were really short and decided to stand in one. After a couple of minutes of standing there in line I was approached by a young lady who worked there "sweetie did one of us tell you to stand there?"(Sweetie?what?! Lol- -a little 20 something year old who I prob at least have 10 yrs on). Needless to say, I handed the clothes to one of the workers and left. Don't go to their big events unless you literally have all day to stand around in line. It was extremely frustrating to deal with. I can only imagine others who prob did the same as myself, not realizing there was a mile long line on the other side of the store. There has got to be a more efficient way of handling things at such a large event. read more

I used to love this thrift store. I could find books for less than a dollar each and kids clothing for 1-2 dollars per item and then they changed something and everything is WAY overpriced. They forgot that they're selling used items, I guess. I find clothes from Wal-mart priced for more than Walmart prices them brand new. There's also no consistency in the pricing. One thing will say $3 and then there can be the equivalent thing from the same brand and it will be $9. I seriously wonder if they do any research on what things cost new and then discount that, or if they just pick a number willy-nilly. And more recently I've noticed that they started at least trying to explain the overpricing on some items by labeling them vintage. haha Yeah, just because it's old doesn't make it worth more. A 40 year old broken iron is still a broken iron. It's not worth 20-30 dollars. Certain things can be worth more even if they're broken, but not the things this store has. It's impossible to get a good deal here. I have found the exact same items at other resale stores for a fraction of the price. So... From now on I'll just stick to those stores. read more

Went there today and it was so packed of items couldn't even get three half the isles with my cart.. then I wait about 15 min in line and I have my debit card debit at that not credit and they tell me I need my id.. I always carry my card in my pocket and my id in the truck.. and then my debit card was a temporary card because I am waiting for a replacement in the mail and they are giving me shit about it.. older lady comes up and says how do I know it's yours wtf really I told her well what do you need she said well your id so I can see it's you wtf does it matter not like my name is on the card so I had to go out to my truck with my 7 month old in my arms crying. And I came back and they don't even pay attention to my id they just say ok slide your card.. they said you can't be doing that and making the other people wait.. I said no I get it if it was Credit but it's debit with my own pin so your gng to wait if that's what you want.
