I love this dealership, I have bought three cars from them for my kids. Here is the thing. You are buying a higher mileage used car as-is, no warranty, and no returns. You have to treat the situation as such. If you go there looking for a perfect car, you will be sorely disappointed. If you know how to shop their inventory, you will find a great car. 1) Look for cars that are known to be great high mileage cars. Honda, Toyota, some Fords, etc. 2) They let you test drive the vehicle alone and will even let you take it to the mechanic of your choice. It is YOUR responsibility to thoroughly look over the car. Test every button, open every door, move the floor mats, check the trunk. Look over the engine, look for leaks, low fluids, warn hoses, loose parts, bald tires, sounds that aren't right. Bring a flashlight and thoroughly look over the car. Or just take it to the mechanic of your choice, they will LET you. 3) You will find some issues. These are generally high mileage vehicles. You may need to factor new tires into the price you are willing to pay. You have to have reasonable expectations. 4) They have always been reasonable on price. Used car prices are still high, but if you buy the right car, you will get plenty of value out of it. None of the cars I have bought from them are lemons. They have all lasted 50+ thousand miles so far. Not a single one has needed more than expected maintenance and common repairs for a high-mileage vehicle. read more

Buyer BEWARE of the used car salesmen/owners at Texas Triumph Motors in San Marcos , Texas ( they also have a lot in San Antonio I believe). They will take your hard earned money with nice words, in one hand and a smile, while you sign on the dotted line when, THEY WOULD HAVE TO KNOW (as it is their business to know) for a broken down POS junk car , that they have just charged you a lot of money for , without mentioning that the vehicle has major probs . Hence, the contract is, "AS IS" , "NO WARRANTY", and "NO REFUND". AND it is my opinion that they would have to be sociopaths to do business that way . So the end of this short of the long is, I threatened them with a law suit under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act , and they did refund the money for the car to my 24 yo son , but made him sign a paper saying he would not sue ... I just feel so bad about all the other young people ( or anyone , no matter the age) that have gotten "stuck" with the most expensive lemon they have ever bought , through them. Too, as you know, San Marcos is FULL of young people going to college there ... I would LOVE to exercise my inner " Erin BrockoBITCH" and help to start a class action suit against them . It only takes 12 people to do so . They need to be shut down ! There are MANY bad reviews online about them from good honest folks that have been taken by them for exactly what happened to my son, that didn't get a FULL refund .. Not only that, when I went with my son to back him up when he returned the car ( I am talking only a few days after they sold it to him) to witness and make sure they didn't try to manipulate him , I was furious at what they had done to my son and in face to face letting Ian Jones , one of the owners, know how I feel, he threatened to have me cited for trespassing if I didn't leave the building ... I am a nearly 67 yo women , if that tells you what kind of "man" (and I use that term lightly) he is ... BTW, It says by my name that I am in CA ... SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOT BUY FROM THIS LOT!!! I bought a car all cash from this car lot and on the drive home i noticed a problem with the gas because when i was pumping it would stop every couple of cents. The five days after having the car the engine light came on. I called Ian and he told me they could fix the part but I would have to buy it. So he exchanged the part for me and told me that he couldn't promise the issue wouldn't occur 2 weeks from now or 2 years from now. well ended up it was 2 hours form the time he fixed it and the engine light was on again. All this car lot does is clear codes on your car and bypass engine lights. Ian and Lee seem to be nice people but truly will sell you a broken down vehicle. read more

Dont trust these guys. Read the other awful review with one star. Should have taken to a mechanic. The road on Quail Run is brand new when I test drove the vehicle I didnt notice anything. Drove it home sounds came from all over due to the bumpy roads. Took it to a mechanic and $3400 later had engine mounts and transmission mounts replaced struts and power steering flushed. I asked the guy do you know of any issues he looked me straight in the eye and lied. They hide behind the buyer beware and they are obligated to do nothing afterwards. NEVER ever again will I buy a vehicle from them and NEVER ever wilI I not take a car to my mechanic to look over. Go to a major dealer that certifies their used cars it will be worth it. I would not trust these people. I was looking for a car and saw a 2000 Honda Accord, the San Antonio location said the transmission was slipping, a little, but would last a few months. I even had a pre-purchase inspection done. I drove it off the lot and in 15 minutes the transmission was gone. they know I did not have the money to fix the $800 cost. They said they can give me $200 but that was it, due to they lowering the price of the car. But I still don't have the money for that. read more

I realize that this review may be lost among a sea of good ones, but hear me out. My girlfriend recently purchased a car from Texas Triumph Motors. From first appearances, the dealership looked like everything the other reviewers said it to be. They do offer a wide variety of cars, at extremely low prices, all with carfax; the other reviews were also fantastic, so the dealership seemed trustworthy. We thought the deal was too good to be true; it was. When you buy a car, be aware that there is a STRICT "no refunds" policy. Now, the salesman may use this to describe things like cracked interior seating or a missing radio knob, but note that it applies to internal damage as well; we purchased a red VW rabbit, year 2008, and had it less than a month before the car had internal problems, seizures, and was no longer able to drive. We hadn't even gotten the plates for it when it was gone, along with my girlfriend's entire savings account of $3500. I will say the customer service is great; they offered to buy us the car back for $800, so it wasn't a total loss. I suspect that they may be selling this car again, so if you see it, beware. A couple of other things of note: they do not ask you for your insurance before you drive off the lot, which we weren't aware at the time is illegal (if we had, we wouldn't have shopped here). There is also a sign on the wall that states, along with NO REFUNDS, that they do not have to honor any oral statement made by a salesman (we did not notice this until picking up the scrap metal check). All in all, the customer service really is superb. They stayed with us every step of the way after the car had broken down, and even offered us a check for the scrap metal value of the car. However, this purchase is one of the worst decisions my girlfriend has ever made; she is a teacher, and this amounted to an entire month's salary loss for her. It is entirely possible that you could get a good car from Texas Triumph Motors, but just know that, if you do get a bad one, you are out of luck. read more

had a horrible experience with these guys. I was wondering why these guys provided few cars in such low price, the reason is they sell cars which are junk. I was interested in 2007 Honda Odyssey car which was decently priced and looked fine in test drive, so i choose to Auto inspection to be done by Auto PI company guys. The true color of the care came to light when Auto PI told me that the engine was leaking the battery was a junk and it had multiple leaks in all the tanks and checking light was blinking but no data of cars health was getting recorded. Once i mentioned the same to Triumph Motor dealers rather than addressing the issues they started blaming Auto PI (http://www.autopi.com/) guys saying that they are scam artists and they have no clue what they are doing. I just told them if you are confident if the car was good condition then will they give guarantee for it which they were not willing to. It was like they wanted to get rid of us we came to know the scam they were upto. Not sure why companies like CarGuru are associated with them. I got the lead from Cargurs saying it was a good deal but ideal cost of the care was 2.5k and they had quoting 5k for it. Dont trust these guys. they talk were nicely but make sure you get a good inspection done before falling into the trap. read more

I just bought my mom a used car here, and Ian and Paul just blew me away with their over the top willingness to accommodate all of my buyers needs (one of which included allowing me to drive one of their cars to San Antonio so my mom could test drive it.) I just can't say enough wonderful things about how great these guys were to my mom, and what a wonderful buying experience they gave us. We got a great deal on a great used car which served all of my mom's driving needs. Car #1 went 100 miles down the road when black smoke started pouring out of the tailpipe. They sent a tow truck for it and told my daughter to return and pick out another vehicle! So they were "nice" and made her a "deal". Daughter paid $3750 cash for car #2. One week later, the power steering failed and while they offered to pay for the part, they refused to pay for labor costs to replace it. After a total of 17 days, the motor expired. We had to pay to get it towed to a local repair shop that declared it dead. Essentially they told her "it sucks to be you". We have your money. Then she had to wait THREE MONTHS to get the title so it could be sold for junk. When title finally arrived in the mail, Texas Triumph Motors screwed up the paperwork and had a lien on it!!!! Buyer beware! Do not trust these people!!! I bought a car, took it to a mechanic they (Ian) recommended (my fault for not taking it somewhere else) and the mechanic said everything was fine. Not so much! After purchase, drove it home to Austin and noticed smoke coming out from under the hood. I took it to our mechanic here in Austin and he told me it was pretty much a trashed car and unless I fixed all of the items that needed fixing, I should not drive it as it would overheat. I called Ian to try and work something out as I paid 4K for the car and it required 4K worth or mechanical work. He offered me a credit of $2,000 towards another car on his lot. Really dude???? So that means I lose out on $2,000 and probably run into the same problems with another piece of crap car on his lot??? I don't think so! What concerns me most is that my mechanic was super curious as to why the problems weren't caught when I brought the car to Ian's mechanic before I purchased the vehicle....he specifically said "you would have to be a complete idiot not to have noticed these problems!" Wow! So I don't know what kind of "deal" Ian has with the mechanic down the street but I highly suggest you just avoid buying a car there in the first place!!! I spent $8,000 on a car that should have been about $2,000!!! DO NOT TRUST THESE GUYS!!! They come across as family men but they are totally just salesmen! read more

I don't normally write reviews, but when a car dealer goes the extra mile to be helpful, I want others to know. I was looking for a good used car for my grand-daughter and Ian had some great one-owner Honda Accords and Civics for under the Blue Book price. My wife and I drove a 2002 Honda Accord with relatively low miles. It looked great... no dents, no rust, but a seam on the driver side leather seat was coming undone, and the tint job was bubbling and peeling. I told Ian I would need to get the seat repaired and the tint replaced. Since this was going to be a gift, Ian arranged for the work to be done before I picked the car up. And then he did something quite unusual in the used car business. I asked Ian if the car needed any other repair before I bought it, and he told me the button on the automatic transmission shift was sticking a few times he drove the car. Now this never happened when I drove it and I never would have realized it till later, but Ian told me I should replace a cable. He arranged for a shop to do that, too (at a discount), and he wound up taking the car to three different places so that when I picked it up it would be in great shape for my grand-daughter.
