The online advertised price was EXACTLY the price we paid. (We've had terrible prior experiences with other dealerships tacking on thousands of dollars in surprise mandatory fees when it came time to sign papers. The opposite was true here! Pricing was transparent and straight-forward.) Bryan was super responsive, honest and kind in his treatment of our daughter when she came in to test drive. Jay in financing was so reasonable and easy to work with. He got us a fantastic finance rate with a credit union local to us and I was able to sign everything electronically - It was incredibly easy and low stress. Here's a story about how Cavender Nissan Of San Marcos (Previously McGavock Nissan) steals over $2k from a customer. I'm an ASE certified AND recertified Technician. A 2018 Nissan Titan was brought to me for a misfire on cylinder 5. 1st issue I found was that the 3 wire pigtail to ignition coil would not clip to coil, due to broked tab. I replaced the pigtail with a new one. Verified continuity into ignition coil. Still has misfire. Swapped the ignition coil and spark plug with known good parts and still had the misfire. Scoped the signal wire going to the igntion coil and found no signal to coil from ECM. Verified continuitly from ECM harness to coil. I advised the customer that he POSSIBLY has a bad ECM. I personally took the ECM to Cavender NIssan of San Marcos to see if I could pay them to test the ECM. I don't know what the capalities of Nissan is when it comes to diagnosing ECM's, so I thought it was worth a try. I was advised by the Service Advisor that they CAN diagnose the ECM but that they require the vehicle to be brought in. So....my customer takes the truck in and they immediately replace the ECM at a cost of $2,379. Then Cavender text the customer and said...quote "ECM HAS BEEN REPGROMMED AS DESIGN: MISFIRE IS STILL PRESENT ON CYLINDER 5. TECHNICIAN NEEDS FURTHER TESTING TO DETERMINE IF ITS SPARK PLUG OR IGNITION COIL. CONNECTER APPEARS DAMAGED". They wanted to charge him another $390.00. So basically they didn't bother to take a few minutes to verify the Ignition Coil or Spark plug was the issue. They jumped right into spending $2,379 of this young mans money! Then asked for more money to THROW PARTS AT IT. Well, the truck ends back in my hands so I can take another look at. Turns out if you put a little pressure and tweak the harness going into the ECM, the signal appears at the coil. Therefore, Coils and plugs would NOT have solved the issue either. THIS IS HORRIBLE SERVICE FROM PEOPLE THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO SPECIALIZE IN THIS BRAND OF VEHICLES!!! I tried to speak with a service manager on the owners behalf and was advised by a service advisor that they have no managers. He also advised me that the service advisor involved with the customer will need to call me. Obviously no phone call was returned. I left messages and sent texts. They ended up contacting the owner directly and advising him that he can bring the vehicle back in and they will charge him for more diagnosing. The customer requested a Survey from Nissan Consumer Affairs and was advised that they already sent him one and cannot send another. He never received a survey. This dealership has complete indifference to their custmers. I didn't ask this customer for a dime, because I didn't fix anything. Yet, this place gladly took his money....admitted they didn't fix it....then stuck their hands out for more cash. ALSO, after he was advised that he would NOT be getting a refund and needs to bring it in for more diagnosing at his cost, he was contacted by a salesperson asking if he was interested in purchasing a new vehicle!!!!!! Horrible experience here for the last 2 years. Shady business practices. They will sell you an oil change package but not ever let you see the 2nd page of the contact that says there is a limit. The page you will receive says it is unlimited until the mileage indicated. Service is terrible with extremely long wait times. I have had my vehicle in for an entire day and was told that work was done to my vehicle under warranty. Come to find out then work was never done at all and I had to bring it back again. On a previous occasion my mother went to them and they told her she needed a new tire. I've left a review 5 months ago and nothing was resolved, but here I am again with another issue with Cavendar! currently trying to refinance my car with a credit union and because I traded in my car for a newer one THEY did not fully pay the old car off which in turn the car is still on my credit hitting it pretty hard because I haven't been making payments on it because I didn't know THEY DIDNT PAY IT OFF!! I literally HATE that I came to this location to do business. I would have rather went elsewhere and felt heard instead of being so pushy. Now I can't refinance and am now 9 months pregnant. Unfortunately this will be one of the very few negative reviews I've posted but well deserved. Because of the poor response and low to no availability for what is covered under my extended warranty...from this location...I will not be buying a Nissan ever again in the future. I am supposed to have oil changes covered under my warranty among other things...but when I called to book an appointment I was told they are two weeks behind (which I understand) but that I have to leave my car for those two weeks of waiting and then wait another few weeks after that, at best. There is no other choice. Other dealerships in the area are doing the same. I attempted to work with them andI said I'll make an appointment for two weeks or more from now and then I won't leave my car to which they said no. So...it's pretty clear that this is a way to circumvent their accountability in what they are obligated to cover after I paid thousands extra. Seems scammy and unethical. Bad business practices. I asked several questions to see what else was possible but they were not helpful whatsoever. Bluebonnet dealership is my favorite. This and other Nissan dealerships in the NB SM area are all pretty bad overall. I even called over various months to see if it was just a seasonal issue but it was not. This is why I will not be purchasing another Nissan. My car is shaking now and there is no way to get in unless I just leave my car with them for months which doesn't seem reasonable or necessary. The Nissan dealership in San Marcos is a total con. I'm gonna guess that I got sized up for a Texas State college student who doesn't know anything about cars or getting scammed. A rep named Vincent told me I needed to change or repair all sorts of things, including that my brake pads were completely worn, and that it would cost $1,000+ for parts and labor for that alone. Something smelled fishy, so I took it to another Nissan dealership. I was told my car was in tip-top shape except for some oil residue (I got a sloppy oil change at the San Marcos location), and that nearly everything, including my brake pads, were fine. When I told the guy at the second dealership, he said, "It must not have been a Nissan dealership!" "It was," I replied. "It was the Nissan dealership in San Marcos." "Oh... Yeah, that's weird." Buyer Beware I purchased a used vehicle back in 2018. At the time the salesman sold me a 60 month 100,000 mile extended warranty. It was never explained to me that the 60 month warranty started on the original purchase date when the car was brand new. The 60 month was actually 24 months so be aware of tactics. After the fact when I went to use the warranty and it was expired only 2 years of me having it I got the run around and they wouldn't do anything for me and wouldn't do anything to make it right. read more

I inquired about a brand new Nissan Altima yesterday and I was told they have one in stock. I went to the dealership and talked to Noah Winkleman (The sales person) about the car, he explained to me all the features of the car and after negotiating the price, we agreed on a price and started the application. I signed the forms and Mathew (The sales manager) run my credit and I got approved for a loan too, the dealership started the process of title and other formalities. I asked to see the car before they do all the paper work but was told it needs to be detailed as it was on the lot and isn't clean and I said fine. They got the car serviced and brought it in front of the dealership to get the paperwork done. I went outside to inspect the car and I noticed there was a dent of the front bumper, checking the interiors, there was several stains on all the doors and behind the driver and passenger seats had shoe prints on them and very dirty on the inside everywhere. While taking it for a test drive, I noticed the vehicle has 642 miles on it, I told them this isn't what you promised me. I was supposed to get a brand new one, but this one is clearly driven and not new. The manager told me that "my general manager drives whatever car he likes" but we will give you the warranty as brand new. I wasn't happy with this and told them I am not buying the car with such conditions and you should give me what you promised, a "Brand New" one. They said they will discuss it and call me the following day to make it work. The next morning I called the sales person and inquired about it, he sent me pictures of a brand new one which had 6 miles on it and said his manager will call me and give me that one instead. He also said since I negotiated the rates, they changed the promised car after paperworks and tried to give me the later one with more miles on it. I got the call from Mathew and he was being very mean and rude from the start as if he wasn't interested in the deal at all. I told him you didn't give me what you promised and I want the brand new one as we spoke about it. He suddenly changes his words and tell me no that was just a demo but we weren't selling you that one. while in reality they had the VIN number for the demo on the file for me. I told him that wasn't the case and he out of nowhere makes it personal claiming I called him a lair and he won't make the deal. I told him I won't beg him to sell me the car and should fulfill his promise since he already run my credit, but he continued being rude about it. I told him I will leave this as a review, he said they don't care, they run my credit, they won't give me what they promised and I can complain wherever I want and he don't give a sh*t about it. I wish I could give them zero stars because they don't ever deserve one star. Terrible people, terrible customer service, extremely rude manager, they will try their best to trick you and take advantage of you. If you are looking for a car, look elsewhere where they will respect and appreciate you as a customer, unless if you wanna have the same terrible experience. I heard from finance on tuesday afternoon to get the social again. Wednesday I contacted Roy and he said he would have Jennifer Guerrero contact me. She did wednesday, I gave her the info again and she said she would get back to me. Thursday I texted her asking for an update. She said she was at another store so it would be an hour or so. A few hours go by. I call her around 330pm, she tells me she is on her way up to the finance tower and to give her another hour ( I had already told her I needed an answer by 4 in order to make sure I had a buyer for the 2nd car I was gona trade in) I call her again at 430 to let her know that the buyer backed out because it was taking so long and that I only had the nissan to trade and 1k. I heard nothing the rest of the day. Friday am I tested her asking if she had heard anything. Her response " no sorry, looks like no approval and will need a co-signer" the meanwhile Im getting random emails from other employees at your location because of some weird text to email clitch or system you have. Not only did it take 4 days to get a denial, I had to continually call and email for answers. The nissan I was trading back to you is one I purchased from you 4 years ago. Literally NO help at all. They then proceeded to take an additional week to "fix it" they told me it would be ready on that Friday. (They failed to contact me at all this entire process until the day it was finally supposed to be ready) then I receive a call saying it still will not be done and that they don't know when it will be ready. I'll try my best to make this brief. I bought a brand new 2020 Titan that unfortunately had some issues. The transmission wasn't communicating with the computer and the car would revert to neutral. I had the truck in for a week and when I got it back it was fine for a few days, then it started happening again. McGavock got me into a loaner and had my truck for several months, they were following directions from corporate Nissan USA, who was trying to establish a protocol for this issue with my truck. Mike, my service rep, was fantastic during all of this. In the end they had to dissemble the entire truck and I started a buy back case (lemon law) with Nissan USA directly. I argued the car fax recording would devalue my investment before I'd even driven her a month. After several months of back and forth I got a phone call from McGavock with good news/bad news. Ok.... Good news? Truck was fixed. Bad news? Nissan had denied my claim... AND the truck sustained hail damage out on the lot.... AND dealership insurance doesn't cover that, I'd have to file a claim with my insurance company. Let that sink in for a sec, all I did was buy a new truck in good faith and get a turd sandwich in return. So why the five star review? Machines break, it happens. Hail falls, it happens. McGavock said that while corporate wasn't gonna make it right, THEY were gonna make it right. Jared (GM) got me into a 2021 (next year model) pro 4X (step up from 2X2 to 4X4), transferred my warranties, service plans etc with NO UPSALE. While there I still hadn't decided and was concerned about the negative equity on my vehicle that's when the overly anxious finance manager Jim stated I'll pay off your whole balance so instead of the appraisal (not exact wording) I'll pay the whole balance. I then wanted them to give me my old rims which they couldn't I understood. I asked the finance manager Jim again about them paying off my full balance he then called the salesperson sky in and advised her they're paying off my full balance. Now when someone says THEY are paying off YOUR full balance one would think that's exactly what they will do PAY THE FULL BALANCE not put anything THEY didn't pay onto YOUR new balance, does that make sense? I guess it would if THEY would have communicated EXACTLY how THEY were going to pay. That's DECEPTIVE! A lie by omission is still a LIE! That's why this review is a one! read more

Worst experience ever buying a car. I bought a brand new 2023 Nissan Pathfinder from Cavendars 6 months ago. Within the first 4 weeks, they had to replace my entire oil cooler, reset my electrical system due to no acceleration, and in that process they broke my radio completely. It took them 61 days and a threat to a lemon law lawyer to give me my car back. I finally got it, and within 6 weeks, my car died, and my fuel pump was bad. That was another 5 days in the shop. I have now had my car back 37 days, and it smells like it is over heating, and there is oil all over my driveway. I have emailed the GM, the service manager, and service advisor multiple times. I have asked over and over for them to trade me out, and buy back this car, and they refuse. I have contacted Nissan Care, and they denied my claim. I have NEVER in my entire life been through an experience like this! If you are thinking about buying from this company..Run! I would NEVER wish on anyone to have to go through what I am going through right now. No help, no concern, NO NOTHING!! read more

I called Nissan prior to my arrival due to a tire going flat. They informed me any Nissan can handle it as long as I have they receipt as it is covered by Nissan. I had a great experience with their service department. I had the secondary hood latch replaced as part of a recall. They were extremely pleasant. Did a multi-point inspection and had some recommendations but totally no pressure when I told them that I have a mechanic who works on my car. I purchased my Nissan on 02/28. You certainly receive a lot of attention upon purchase but since then it has been poor, to say the least. First, the tint is terrible! I had to call my salesperson and took it back in, only to still have bubbles in the tint. This is not okay for a new purchase. I guess I'll have to pay to get it done properly. Then I noticed the paint on the hood was chipped upon purchase. The car is immaculate and I park far away from other cars. I thought it was just dirty but when I went to wash it, it's the actual paint that is chipped, and not just a little, it is a fair amount on the hood. Why would anyone think that is okay to deliver a car that has damage? That demonstrates poor integrity. In the interim, I referred my 80 yr old parents who had a terrible experience. They promised vehicle delivery on a certain date and then they quoted her a different price when she was paying cash! I guess they prefer financing?? Then they ordered a different car. It did not arrive when promised, yet no one called them to let them know it would be delayed. We were already going to purchase from another dealer (and should've) when they finally called. Come to find out, it had already been there 3 days with no phone call. Then someone called me and asked if I would like to trade in, even thought it had only been 4 months. I told him no due to my dissatisfaction with the tint and paint. He said "will you allow me an opportunity to fix this?" and I said yes. He said he would call me back, but he never did. Now, I just had a blow out on the highway in this car that was a fairly top of the line model. I had to call Nissan. They told me to find the tire under the truck. I had 3 men helping me and guess what? There is no spare tire anywhere on the vehicle. I had to call back and got a different associate who transferred me to my salesperson, but of course, no answer. Then I called again and asked to speak with a manager and I was told they were in a meeting and unavailable. So I am currently without a vehicle because no Nissan has a tire in stock. So after all of these negative experiences, I would not recommend this dealership.
