I worked with Jesse and his team to finish a commercial remodeling project that another contractor…read morehad done a good job on, but abandoned the project at about 95% done. I paid Jesse $15k to finish this job, and he was aware of each element of the project including trim work, painting, and fixing the floors that were not glued down properly. We started the project well, and the work done on the crown molding looked good. They touched up some drywall texture and it looked really rough in certain areas, and was much heavier than the existing texture. It seemed the guys didn't really know what they were doing with texture. He did fix it somewhat, although there are still areas where you can visibly see it does not match. Also some of the doors/trim that were painted were done quickly with a very heavy textured brush, and should have been done with a light roller to match the others. But for the most part they fixed things we pointed out and they looked better by the end. Where the issues really came in was at the end. Jesse told us to blue tape everything that needed to be redone and we did. They then came and "fixed" it and removed the tape, however we noticed many of the things we taped looked the same and the tape had just been removed. We did that three or four times and there was still things that they were just removing tape on. I then walked it with him and he said he was going to fix the things I pointed out, including flooring that still needed to be glued back down. He then sent guys over and they didn't do any of the things we discussed. He told me to blue tape it AGAIN, and I said no that they are just removing the tape and not doing the work, but if he sends guys we will show them what to fix. Fast forward a few months, and the last few things we had taped were never fixed, floor tiles are still bubbling up that he was supposed to fix, and he says because he did "extra work" that he is no longer responsible to finish the actual job he contractually agreed to. (The "extra work" he referred to was putting in drywall ceiling instead of drop ceiling in a room addition. We had never discussed or agreed to a drop ceiling so I was going to cancel the job, but he agreed to switch it to keep the job.) I tried to come to an agreement with him and potentially give him more work if he finished the previous job. However he didn't even show up when he said he would to quote me on it, so at this point I'm just going to find a new contractor. I'm disappointed but I only want to work with people who keep their word and honor their contracts. Attached part of contract and screenshots of texts.

They sent two guys that were respectful and wanted to work, but needed direction and supervision. They used a lot of my tools as they were not prepared to take on this job. I was in contact nearly every day with Kelly and her partner as I tried to work with them. I could go on and on about their excuses. Subs were asking if I was paying Kelly, because they were not getting paid. After about three weeks (into a ten day job) I had to ask them to leave with the job half done. (less than half once the new contractor had to redo some of their work) At that point Kelly demanded full payment. I believe Kelly and her partner know very little about renovations. They bid the job, order materials and hope their subcontractors can make it work. I will add that I had worked in construction when I was younger, so i am familiar with what was needed I had a bad feeling about Kelly the first time we met, she really didn't seems to understand the work process or construction in general. I was introduced to Housewright Fence by a neighbor. Our shared fence blew down in a storm, due to…read morethe original wood posts rotting. We all hate to replace fences and I am particularly bad at procrastinating about it, but after propping the old fence up for a few months, I had to cave and share the expense with our neighbor. Being frugal (i.e. cheap) I only replaced the shared fence, delaying the rest of the fence replacement for later. Housewright replaced the old wooden posts with metal posts and installed a beautiful red cedar fence. All the wood was prestained, before arriving at our house, allowing Housewright to stain ALL surfaces of the wood, to prevent decay for as long as possible. We opted for a horizontal "rot board" as well, so that the fence's pickets could be raised enough to prevent having their ends submerged, even in the heaviest rain. Again, this is done so that the fence lasts as long as possible. Have I mentioned I HATE replacing fences? They did such a great job on the first fence section, that when I was ready to replace the rest of our fence, I didn't go out for quotes. I just reached out to Housewright Fence to do the job. It took a while to get on the schedule, but with supply chain issues, we were able to get the job done within a few weeks of placing our deposit. The crew worked hard in a day so hot, I didn't even want to step outside. They were courteous, careful to not damage our plants, patio furnishings or garden trellises and their post-construction cleanup left nothing behind. We've been doing LOTS of work, to transform our backyard from a place just for the dogs to poop, into a place for peaceful reflection and relaxation. Our new fence was the final touch in our backyard's transformation and I'm grateful our neighbor found Housewright. Need a fence but procrastinating like me? Go ahead and call Housewright. We had about 200' of 6' cedar fence installed in about 2 days, from start to finish. They also put a gate in a section on wrought iron fence where we needed one, and it works perfectly. Our neighbors on one side did not want a new fence, complained about us removing our trees, and were generally not fun to deal with. The crew had to put up with their complaining as well, but did so with a smile and even filled the gap between their old, falling down, chain link gate and the new wood fence. Even they are happy with the fence that they didn't want! Jay was extremely responsive to my emails and texts and they even billed my side neighbor separately for his half of that section of fence so that we didn't have to deal with that. He took care of everything from start to finish. We are so happy with our new privacy fence and will definitely look to Housewright Fence when we need to address the fence on the other side of our yard.
