Texas Winos provided a great experience for us yesterday. Our group of 12 had a great time for my husbands surprise birthday party. They were thorough in their communications and we were more than prepared for the trip. We certainly knew that there was a 2nd pick up location because our entire crew except 2 were from Collin county. The day zipped by and we didn't even realize it because we had such a good time. Our host, John, was fun, courteous, Helpful and knowledgeable. He even helped out at our stops to keep the pours moving. He even took pictures and made sure our birthday cake survived the trip. My only concern was that Groupon mentioned a nominal fee for tasting. I expected to pay at least $20 but the fee wasn't nominal, in my opinion. I think that the tasting fee should be noted in the Groupon. I wished I could have given 4.5 stars. read more

This company cancelled our tour the day of, due to a driver being sick. They notified us through email, which was very frustrating because I would've missed it had they not sent a text. We decided to accept their alternative tour and drove to Irving for a 10:30 am pickup and departure. The bus didn't show up until 11:05, and so we were running behind all morning. Our Tour guide was Rick Jones, and he was by far the most unprofessional guide ever. First he made comments such as, "you all can play music, but make sure it's something I can understand. I don't want to hear no mumbling, cursing, or whatever it is people are listening to these days." He yelled at everyone at one point because he couldn't hear and stated "if y'all don't be quiet, I can't make your lunch reservation." This tour was disorganized, a total let down, and a rip-off. Don't waste your money with this company. You're better off hiring a driver and making your own plans with your friends. That way you are guaranteed a good time. read more

I had so much fun today Met at Coal Vines in uptown. Drank a $3.25 mimosa and went onto the bus. We drove to Celinas (an hour and a half north of dalllas) and went to 3 wineries. All were great and accommodating. Our guide, David was amazing and personable. Made it easy to get along with everyone. The group consisted of many types of personalities. Get your bus tour on living social and then pay for the tastings when you book your tour date. read more

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our Celina tour. We drove to Celinas (an hour and a half north of dalllas) and went to 3 wineries. All were great and accommodating. Two of the 3 were Texas vineyards. The tour guide (Richard) was very friendly and was constantly engaged asking for ways to improve and the things we liked about the tour. Richard seemed to have a great relationship with all winery owners leading to some heavy handed pouring and a great time :) We would definitely go on another tour. read more

My friends and I went on one of the tours this past weekend. Overall, it was a fun experience, but some improvements could be made. Cons: Our tour guide for the Ft Worth to Grandbury tour cancelled, so we met up with the Dallas to Celina tour at their first stop. We got an email the night before letting us know. We were very disappointed since we all live within that general area, but decided to go ahead and go. The bus driver didn't acknowledge us at all when we got on the bus. She appeared to not even know the tour had been changed. She went 90 mph on the highway and at one point drove on the wrong side of the road. One winery was located at the owner's house. We literally did the wine tasting in their driveway. The owners were very kind and sweet, the wine was awesome, but it was rather odd. Just wasn't really expecting that. The owner of another one of the wineries was rude to our group when we were trying to find a table to sit all together; not at all welcoming. Our original tour had us eating brunch, but since our tour switched, no one informed us the tour we were put on instead would eat lunch at 3pm. Not great to do all those tastings for the majority of the day with such a delayed lunch. Lunch was a buffet, and although I thought the food was great, it is a lot of fried items. If you have dietary restrictions, be sure to let someone know to see if you can get something different. Pros: Overall, the tastings were quite fun. The wine was good, a little something for everyone. The tour guide, Scott, was wonderful and really made up for the challenges! I do think my experience was different than it would have been had our tour not changed last minute. Other notes: You're able to purchase bottles of wine if you'd like. Average price per bottle was about $22-$25. You get a little wine glass to use as your tasting glass and get to keep as a keepsake. Bring snacks/water for the bus! I believe the tour time had an end time of 6pm. It was 6pm by the time we left the last winery, so be aware they may not be including the additional travel time back to your meeting stop. read more

Cousin and I did the Wino tour out of Ft. Worth Saturday 9/1. First off we checked in at a restaurant which was a great idea because it gave us a chance to have breakfast before we began our day of drinking. That is where the good ends and after that is when the "fun" began. The tour was to be done on a bus, we were thinking it was going to be a standard bus with rows of seats, nope party bus that supposedly sat 31. There were 27 of us and we were on top of each other, literally. Along the back wall everyone couldn't sit back because there wasn't enough room. There were 2 cancellations and had they shown we wouldn't have been able to go due to lack of space, unless someone sat on the floor. Luckily after the first stop I decided to sit up front with the driver giving the folks in the back a little more room. Then there were the wineries. Good lord. I may be spoiled being from Cali, which produces some of the best wine in the world, but the wine was horrible. Save for the first stop Barking Rock. The wine was decent but what made it good were the owners who were very informative and personable. We stopped for lunch at an Italian spot in Grandbury called Joe's, it was meh. The last two stops were forgettable as the wine was just wrong. If they find better wineries to visit and we could have actually been comfortable on the bus, I wouldn't feel so bad about spending over $200 on this mess. read more

I was torn between giving 4 or 5 stars, but in the end, I feel like I got more than what paid for, so that warrants a 5 star rating. My complaints were that the restaurant, apparently, did not know they were serving us lunch, so it was not ready at the promised time, and honestly, while it was good, it was not enough. Also, we were told our guide would be taking pictures, and that there would be lively music on the bus; neither happened. But I was with a lively group, and we all had cell phones, so we kind of worked that out ourselves. The good points were that the food and drinks at the restaurant were good, the wineries and vineyards were awesome. ( I especially loved Brushy Creek). The ride was comfortable. The time spent at the venues was great, not too short, not too little. The price for parking our cars was minimal, the place was safe, and we walked right out of the restaurant onto the bus. Our guide...was not the friendliest, but the owners of the wineries made up for him. We were an hour and a half late returning, but I did not mind. It was an excellent time, and I would do it again. read more

This adventure was a lot of fun and well organized. The tour operators communicate with you often to give you information and updates. The bus is clean and well operated. The tour guide establishes the rules, very few mostly being back to bus on time, and then you are free to have a great time. The wineries we went to in Johnson City and out further were hospitable and informative.p as well as tasty. We had several different groups on our tour and all seemed to enjoy themselves. The BBQ lunch served was fantastic as well. Do yourself a favor and book a Texas Winos tour, you'll enjoy. read more

We had the best... Most amazing time ever!!!!!!!! The restaurant was nice and spacious and the pizza was delicious. It was a good way to start the tour. Then we got on the bus and headed to the first winery, Cowtown was super small and barley fit us but Lee sure made up for it with the wine.... Their wine was so good! I can't wait to go back and have a wine flight. Then Brushy Creek was soooo good. The wine maker gave the best tour and talk I have ever heard. And the chocolate port was freaken amazing... It's called sex in a bottle and the name is fitting!!!! Pricer wine but worth it!!! Then markers cellars was some of the best wine I have ever had. The wine maker was so good and they had the best facility for the large group. And their farm area is so beautiful. Big shout out to Lee and Jo... They were so great and they made the trip so much fun! And Jason, our tour guide was superb... He kept us on task and having fun! We partied the whole way back from the winery in the bus!!!!! Also big kudos to Texas Winos in handling having to cancel the brewery tour due to low attendance and they were so professional and we are very happy with the resolution! This company is the worst. I bought a groupon and once purchased I was required by Texas Winos to then pay a "tasting fee" of $75. Talk about a bait and switch! Then our guide was a half hour late and after we hit the road he did not advise the driver that we had a second pick up spot to pick folks up. They were stuck waiting for over an hour. We didn't get to the first winery until 2 hours later. The whole experience was terrible. read more

Very fun outing with friends / couples / parties (great idea for a Bachelorette party or similar celebration)! The not having to drive is awesome (b/c you're on a charter bus). The tastings are fun, though i wish we had gotten a little more wine (i wish there had been 1 glass of wine included at 1 winery, but there isn't - just the tastings, then you can buy either a glass or a bottle). You CAN bring snacks , drinks, booze on the bus, and drink between stops, which is fun. Also, lunch (included in the price of the excursion) is delicious fried goodness, but was a bit late (we ate at 3pm/3:30pm). They warned us it would be a "late lunch" but i thought it would be like 1 or 2pm, not 3/4pm. Not that big of a deal, just a personal preference to eat closer to actual meal times. The photograph opportunities were great at all the wineries. There were barns and animals and fields... all very cute. Definitely recommend this company and John M (our tour guide) for anyone looking for a local DFW wine outing! read more

My friend and I just went on the tour from Dallas to Celina to Mckinney. We were overcharged on our credit card by $648. I notified them ASAP, as they admitted to making the mistake and I was told it would be fixed. Several days went by and I reached out again, I was told the same thing. I have now called my credit card company and reported them as fraud. My credit card confirmed they haven't even tried to contact them to fix this matter. As if this wasn't bad enough, our tour was very poor quality for what we paid, as I have taken this tour before. The first stop in Celina Barn Hill, wine was undrinkable. Eden Hill's wine was the best of the tour as always, however they put all of us in a garage and we did not receive the cheese and fruit tray that was suppose to be included at no cost. They had another tasting event going on where they normally have us come in and sit down. This was very disappointing. Lunch was the only positive to this tip. We had lunch in downtown Celina at Lucys. It was great. The last tour was in McKinney, we got lost and finally found the site which consisted of another garage, but at least we had seats. Overall this wine tour was below average compared to the one I have been on in the past and I still have not received my money back that they have stolen. read more

If I could leave 0 stars and write this review then I would have! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They cancelled our tour that was scheduled for 11/04/17 by sending an email 2 days before the event! They sent an email on 11/02/17 when it was scheduled for mine and my husband's 30th birthday party and we had a group of about 10 people planning on going. Luckily, only 4 of us had purchased our tickets at that time, but we all have still yet to receive our refund and its been almost 2 weeks now! They said it would take up to 4 days, but come on 2 weeks!? I'd say that $150 refund is def worth following up on and after trying to call about 4 times with no answer that just seems fishy to me. Don't waste your time or money on this and just go to the wineries without using Texas Winos. read more

So I hate posting bad reviews for anyone but I am beyond frustrated with Texas Winos. I bought a groupon last year for a wine tour for our anniversary. I paid for the tasting and everything, so please explain why they were the ones that had to cancel the tour first of all, they will not return my phone calls or emails so that I can rebook. I understand there was completely acceptable reason for our driver not being able to do the tour for us, but at least let me rebook. Anyways the hubs and I were excited and now are upset that between our Groupon and tasting we're out 200 bucks and got nothing for it. I am still to this day trying to contact them, but I guess they're just so busy with their amazing service that they wouldn't dare be able to at least let a customer who paid actually receive the service they paid for (very sarcastic). Went on the Celina winery tour this past weekend with my wife and had a good time. The bus was on time and really nice. The wineries were also pretty good. Two were great, and one was "eh", but I know not every wine/winery is for everyone. The guide, John (JJ) was great though; prompt, kept everyone informed and moving to the next winery, very social, and did a great job managing some people who partied a bit too hard. Overall, it was a good time, and worth the money if you get a discount/groupon, etc. The website is really poor though, and didn't inform you that there were multiple pickup spots. One couple drove all the way down to Dallas for the bus, only to find out there is another pickup 20 miles further North near their house. So if you can navigate a crappy website you should be ok. read more

**We have not received any after event apology nor partial refund nor offer to have another experience with them. So in the end, we and many others we spoke to still felt a little cheated on the deal.** The Ft Worth area winery tour we purchased stated visiting 3 wineries, getting a wine glass each, and a photographer would be there "no need to bring a camera to take photos" so we could download the photos free after the trip. Our experience... After the groupon purchase and weeks before booking the tour, I emailed a question and received no response. I only received a response AFTER I booked the event. They blamed it on emails going to spam. This was probably our first inkling of how things were to go... Day of tour no guide showed, no phone # on the Texas Winos website (email only), bus driver could not get guide or anyone to answer their phones. He was not given a route plan this time. The bus driver said his dispatch stated the Dallas winery tour was having the same issue, no guide from Texas Winos showed or was responding to them either. NOT a good impression of the company happening here!! With several of us emailing and calling various numbers numerous times, we obtained the location of the first winery and we all decided to go without the guide since we STILL had no response from the guide. Our guide never "joined up" with us as we were eventually told. With our modified schedule, we only went to 2 wineries. In place of the 3rd winery, we were sent to a street front tasting room DaVita and told to "explore" the town for an hour. The last place was supposed to give a glass of wine in place of the 3rd tasting. They served ONE 2oz pour in a plastic 4oz solo cup and it was artificially flavored type wine. It was not drinkable. We never received our wine glasses. We had no photographer and so we only have a couple of photos we took ourselves from our phone. The wineries and restaurant kept wanting to collect money from one of the guests who we joked was our make-shift leader. Not cool to put a paying guest in that position! We did have fun because our group really came together and we had fun people in our group. Our first winery even said he'd not seen a group like this act so family like. LOL. I will say if you do just the $98 tour for 2, it is NOT worth the money ESPECIALLY since the tasting is another $31 per person which you find out during your booking process... We never actually "toured" anything AT the wineries as we only were on an outside patio or in a tasting room. You can do this for free anytime by yourself by driving around Grandbury, TX. Don't spend $100 to visit a winery if you aren't drinking, though they did provide lunch. If you are paying the $31 / person for the tasting, then it is nice to have someone else driving. The 2 wineries we did actually go to served 4 and 5 wines in their tasting and they were very friendly. I felt bad that the vintner had a hard time keeping everyone's focused attention due to no tour guide. It was hard to hear what the vintner was talking about over all the group's chatter. We are thinking of trying TexasWinos again and see if the experience is different if run how it was supposed to and we actually get all that we paid for.... read more

My experience has been great. Leading up to the event we received multiple emails explaining the logistic and what to expect on the tour. We attended three wineries and had a large lunch. We enjoyed a nice time walking around the Granbury. We met some nice people, had a great time on the bus and JJ (our tour guide) was awesome. My sister and I took our mom on the Ft. Worth to Granbury tour for an early Mother's Day gift. It was a fantastic experience! We had the time of our lives. Our guide, John, was super enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and attentive to each and every guest as if they were the only one. He encouraged everyone to be lively and have a good time. The food was amazing, as well. We had Italian at Joe's. It was really great! Try the Tortellini Michelangelo. We cannot wait to do it again, next time maybe the trip that goes to Fredricksburg. Went on one of the Austin brewery tours yesterday, 5/5, and it was a blast! Our tour guide Richard was super nice, friendly, and helpful. He really wanted to mold the tour to those on it by asking what beers we liked best and taking us to the breweries that had them! He even added a brewery to our tour because my boyfriend wanted to go there. When I called to say we would be about 10 minutes late he offered to either wait for us or just have us meet at a different location (which we did), then afterwards he even dropped us back at our car out of the way. Best customer service ever, we will definitely be going on another tour through Texas winos! read more

My sister and I did the tour of Granbury with Texas Winos on 4/14. The bus driver, Luis was enthusiastic, energetic, and altogether great at keeping up the energy throughout the trip. The guide, Adam, also did a great job. Adam was very social, mixing with the groups and providing his own tastes on wine. He helped make the experience wonderful. The vineyards we visited were all great. The first, Barking Rock, was my favorite. It felt very private and the owners gave a detailed presentation on the wines we were tasting, which were all good. Pemberton Cellars felt a bit more industrial, but the wines were all still very good. Our last stop at Bluff Dale provided five more excellent wine samples. There was something for everybody at every location, some wines were white, some were red. Some were dry, others were sweet. Some were easy on the palate while others were more complex. The vineyards were terrific. My only complaint was that we ran a bit long, it was already scheduled to be from 11 AM - 6 PM, but we didn't make it back until 7:30 PM. read more

My sisters got my husband and I the groupon as a Christmas gift, and we decided to do the Granbury wine tour. We had an incredible time and it all ran so smoothly! We went to 3 very different wineries, so we got to try a very diverse selection of wine throughout the day. We enjoyed all of the wine, and the people at each winery were so welcoming and informative. Our guide, JJ, was excellent, upbeat, and more than willing to take tons of pictures for everyone. We had a delicious Italian lunch between the 2nd and 3rd winery, and ended the day at one of the most beautiful views. I kept telling my husband I couldn't believe we were so close to home! Overall, I would definitely recommend this wine tour. It was such a fun date day, and it felt like a mini staycation. We'll be taking our in laws when they come to visit next spring. read more

This winery tour was given to us as a gift (Groupon). When I made the reservation online I had to pay an extra $68 for two if we wanted to do the tasting. I was surprised that a winery tour didn't include wine tasting. Would people have just gone for the bus ride? Communication was awful. We were told when the reservation was made that we would receive an email with details before the tour date. We didn't so we emailed Texas Winos but received no response. We then followed up with a phone call and no return call was made to us. Finally received email on day before tour. We arrived at Coal Vines(meeting place) at 10:30am and paid $3 for a mimosa. We waited in a back section of the restaurant. The bus was supposed to leave at 11am. More people came and we still didn't see our tour guide. Finally some guy wearing a bucket hat walked in but didn't sit. We started to wonder if he's the guide but didn't introduce himself. He then talked to two different tables. Well past 11am he (bucket hat guy) told us the bus broke down and we could buy mimosas and lunches from the restaurant but the scheduled lunch would still be served at 1:45pm at the second winery. We were disappointed and hungry. If we spent money to buy lunch while waiting, we might not be hungry at the second winery. Another 20 or so minutes went by. David (now we learned he's the guide) told us that they're sending a different bus and that the first scheduled winery would be cancelled. Again, he would go speak to specific people (were they VIP guests?). We waited and asked him if the tour would for sure commence. He said we could reschedule and would get a 2 for 1. What a joke. There's no guarantee this won't happen next time. We decided to just go. Someone from another table told us there's two free appetizers out at the bar. Why didn't David inform us? By the time we got in line, there were hardly any appies left. Finally the bus showed up and we left at 1:05pm, 2 hours late! 1. Poor communication - the guide should've been more forthcoming and informative what was happening and options. Why did he only converse with certain guests? 2. He only took photos on the bus, in the beginning and at the end. Did not see him with the camera at either one of the two winery stops. Don't think we'll have any photo to download now. 3. We felt ripped off! The tour states that 3 or more wineries but we only went to two. 4. Instead of music, staticky radio was blaring on the bus on the way to the first stop. 5. The only positive from this tour was the lunch provided at the winery catered by Chef Marshall. He cooked a delicious lasagna and Caesar salad. And that's what garnered the stars on this review. read more

there were a number of things that threw the timing off for our tour - the two most obvious of which were the guide was not sober from the outset and he claimed lack of communication with him by you: 1) The guide did not know where to meet us - he was waiting in the bar at The Rustic drinking. At 11:30, one of the tour participants said he would go see if he might be at the wrong location. He found the guide along with a couple other tour participants in the bar drinking. His rambling apology for not knowing where to meet us was that no one told him that this particular tour was to meet at Mutts rather than The Rustic. 2) When the guide got on the bus, a number of participants told him there was a stop in Richardson and there were people waiting. They had friends who had signed up for the tour to be picked up in Richardson. He told them that we would stop, then proceeded to have the driver take off for Celina - at about 11:45 (just a short 45 minutes late, right?). These other people kept asking and, finally, when were were near the Sam Rayburn Tollway, he had the driver pull off the freeway and check to see if that was true. They spent more than 10 minutes trying to figure out how to get to the second pickup. We finally managed to get to the second pick-up at 12:30. His rambling apology for this screw-up was that again, no one told him (and he doesn't get any emails) that there was a second pick-up on this tour. Additionally, I believe there are some glaring instances of FALSE ADVERTISING about this tour: 1. Repeatedly in your emails preparing for the tour and on your website, you focus on the fact that this is to be a relaxing, fun, enjoyable day. Tour participants will not be hurried, rushed, etc., at any point. This was definitely not the case. Before we even got off the bus at the first winery, we were told that we needed to enjoy ourselves but do it quickly. We had to make up time lost because we were late. Every single stop was exactly the same -- we were repeatedly told to hurry up so we could get on to the next stop. Pretty well destroyed the relaxing part of the experience! 2. On your website and in your emails, you state that this is a special tour that includes meeting with the winemakers and getting behind-the-scenes information, understanding, insight, etc. We got that at the first stop, which was by far the best stop on the entire tour. At the second winery, we met with a very personable gentleman who owned the business and explained the wines, but all but one of what we were served were purchased wines from France. At the third winery, we were made to sit on the cold patio with a couple of heaters and blankets while one lady poured the wines. She told us what she was pouring, but nothing at all about them - I do not even know whether she was part of the waitstaff or part of the family who owned the winery. 3. I paid a premium through your website to purchase this tour experience for my mother as her Christmas gift. I did that because your website advertised a premium tour experience. This tour was anything but a premium experience. A chef-prepared meal at a winery with the winemaker choosing complimentary wines is a far cry from what we were served. Don't get me wrong, the food was fine for what it is -- home-style cooking in a relaxed family restaurant. But it was in no way what I envisioned based upon your description of the meal. I don't just feel that this was false advertising -- I believe I was flat-out lied to about what to expect from the meal. I spoke to some of the other participants who said this was their second tour with your company. After their terrible experience on their first tour - they stated that those tours were EXACTLY the same as what we went through; they only decided to give you the benefit of the doubt and go again because they found a Groupon for half off the listed price. So, on top of the fact that this was not at all the experience I hoped to have with my mother, I found that I had paid double what others had to get the same lousy service. To say the least, I am very disappointed that what I believed to be a premium wine tour experience became nothing more than a rushed, fried-food, drunken race through the countryside. read more

He kept us informed every step of the way and we had a blast on the bus - singing and even some dancing in the seats and aisles! The lunch stop at Joe's was incredible. My friend and I went out on a wine tour from Dallas to Celina and McKinney areas, to celebrate her birthday. We had a blast! Our tour guide, Chris was so much fun, as well as our driver, Stanley. We visited 3 wineries and had a complimentary lunch at a small diner. Can't say enough about the fun we had. The wineries were nice and accommodating to our large crowd. I was referred to this event from a friend and I was eager to share my experience with others and possibly book another trip however I am not going to recommend this tour to anyone. I was looking forward to enjoying a day of fun, wine tasting and not driving, unfortunately that did not happen. Due to the misinformation sent in the email the morning of the event, I ended up in Grapevine at an address that did not exist. I tried 3 times before 1100 to contact the office to clarify the meeting place and was unable reach someone until 1105 at which time the bus was to be leaving. My option was to miss the tour or drive myself to each of the wineries. I met our tour guide at the 1st winery and he informed me he would compensate me for gas money and " owe me a bottle of wine" however neither happened. I emailed, RICHARD, after the tour requesting compensation for driving, since that was included in the price and did not receive any response. This lack of response speaks volume about Texas Winos customer service or LACK thereof. We did a wine tour going to wineries in Granbury and Burleson. It included tastings, transportation, and a delicious meal. We had the best time! We prefer beer but still had a great time and enjoyed the tastings. Next time we will definitely be trying a brewery tour! read more

I have now taken two trips with this company. The first was from Richardson to Celina. There were three winery stops and lunch at Lucy's in Celina. I went with a friend and we had a great time. There are never any guaranties about what you will experience at any given winery but the fact that they do the driving and the planning makes it all worth it! The second trip I just finished taking was from Fort Worth to Granbury. Again, there were three winery stops and lunch at Joe's Italian in Granbury. This time I took two friends with me (the more the merrier!). I could detail each stop but as I have already said, there are no guaranties that even if you went to the same winery as we did, that the experience would be the same. Suffice it to say that we had a great time. We did buy wine at a couple of the wineries. If you are thinking of taking one of the tours, I would suggest you read the instruction and tips. Bring water and snacks for the bus ride if you can't so for four hours without eating. The water you will need for the wineries as many of the smaller ones do not provide it. I highly recommend this company and will be taking more trips with them. read more

I had great time on the McKinney/Celina tour. . I wasn't sure what to expect, since this was my first time with Texas Winos. In addition, I purhased my ticket from Groupon. You never really know if you're going to receive outstanding service at a discounted rate. However, I was pleasantly surprised. From start to finish, our guide, John, was terrific. We visited three wineries, each with a distinct flair. Most of the wine selections were delicious. The restaraunt accommodated my food selection due to my vegetarian diet, which I thought was great. The one suggestion that I do have is to find out prior to the tour if any customers have food restrictions. Other than that, I have no concerns. I met some awesome people and made some new memories. The tour was definitely worth it. I will be booking again. read more
