Speaking from the view that Joes KC BBQ is pretty much the Holy Grail, we'd give this place a provisional 4. Provisional because the pork ribs had a lot of chew and just a little smoke. A little more cook time would have done wonders. We really liked the brisket, tender, bark nice, plenty on the sandwich, nice flavor. Fries were good, and beans decent, a little heavy on the chili powder for us, but decent. Fried okra was excellent, big pieces and hot out of the fryer. We really liked the sausage, spicy! Just finishing up my lunch. I had, brisket, sausage, ribs and burnt ends with beans on the side and potatoe salad. Ok, let's get started. I love to go around and review BBQ joints. I'm a BBQ nerd and been to most of the places in Oklahoma that people rave about. I am VERY picky when it comes to good BBQ. THIS place is amazing! The ribs are fantastic. No big rubs or a ton of stuff on the meat as most places do. The meat speaks for itself. It's really a great dusting of salt, pepper, and garlic with a bit of sweetness. Bite through is great and smoke ring is awesome on the brisket as well. Brisket is tender and juicy with a light rub. Burnt ends were soo yummy. It's pretty sad when you find a BBQ place and they have no idea what a burnt end is. NOT THESE GUYS. Potato salad was terrific and not chunky which I like because I like potatoes salad but not a fan of it being chunky. This was smooth so when you take a bite you get the full taste of everything, all in one bite. Lastly, THE BEANS. THE BEANS are the best BBQ beans I've had anywhere!! Just about ALL BBQ joints have beans just because it goes with bbq. NOT THESE GUYS. They put all kinds of stuff in these beans. It's a bean flavor explosion when you take a bite if there amazing beans. So yummy!! I like bbq sauce a little thicker but the flavor of this sauce was awesome. Overall? This is a place that you have to tell people about because they have to try this place out. While writing this review, I am listening to a table of 2 older couples arguing which of their meals was better. Lady was in love with the buttery bun her pulled pork sandwich was on and the 2 old guys was arguing about his ribs were better than the other guys brisket. The 2 lady decided this brisket was better that one on the old guys he's made at home for the last 40 years. Haha. Great owners and staff. We went to Texlahoma at 6:45 pm this evening and although their sign says they are open until 8:00, the young woman at the counter said they were out of EVERYTHING. I was surprised by hearing that so I asked to make sure I had heard correctly and she reiterated that they were out of everything but if we wanted to wait to see if they "might" have some brisket left after they finished with the 2 or 3 people I saw standing around, that we could. What restaurant owner allows his restaurant to run out of everything at once? Pretty poor business practice from my view. We won't be back. Where do I even begin? The day I went was the Monday before Thanksgiving. The menu was only down to ribs and burgers but I was absolutely satisfied. Wow! Ive been searching for the best barbeque brisket and found it here in Edmond. The meat was loaded with flavor, super tender, and had just the right amount of smoke. Saw a posting about Texlahoma BBQ being open Wed and since I was in Edmond and I did need to eat I decided to give it a try. Got the 2 meat for $12.00, Brisket, Ribs, Mac & Cheese and potato Salad The two ribs was very small, they did pull away from the bones clean with a tug, both had a small smoky flavor to them. Over all not bad, just wish they would have been larger. Then I got to the brisket, first it was slice almost a quarter inch thick. It did have a nice smoke ring on it, BUT it did not have any flavor. But it was very moist. Could not do a good pull test because it was so thick. It did want to crumble. The homemade BBQ sauce was very good The two side was ok, but not great. Service was great and the staff was very friendly. My test: Tasted vs Portion size vs Price: I give it a C+ Using a friend "drive test" would I go from Norman to eat there? NO! My husband and I went there and had drove by wanting to try it for a very long time. We finally did and I was disappointed. When I think barbecue especially from Texas I think it will be smoked meat. Their meat doesn't taste like it is smoked. The brisket was tender. I didn't care for the barbecue sauce. I will continue going to my fav place Earl's barbecue they smoke their meat and I love their barbecue sauce! read more

The ribs where flavor packed and super tender, the mashed potatoe salad was so creamy and good, also tried the HB sandwich packed with sausage, pulled pork, and brisket! There are no words!!! The other point I want to share, was how good they were taking care of my business. Not only were they patient and suggestive when I called them. Was disappointed with the price and amount given in an order. The pictures show more than you actually get. $18.00 for 2 ribs and 2 slice's of brisket? On a 2 meat dinner! I can't see myself spending that much for so little. What's worse is some friends told us about you and gave a false picture as well. I wouldn't have sent my wife out there if I had known. I have had the chopped brisket and the pulled pork sandwich on two different visits this month. The Pulled Pork sandwich is one of the best that I have tasted. The Chopped Brisket was also excellent. Had the Brisket Small Family Meal with 2 sides and 2 drinks for around $38. It was a lot of food for my family of 3. The BBQ sauces, mild and spicy (but not too hot) were both delicious! The fries were crispy and well flavored. We went in craving ribs but a man earlier had ordered ALL the ribs so they were out... I'm assuming they're that good. BUT the brisket was great so we weren't disappointed at all. There wasn't too many people inside if you plan to dine in but there is a line to order and then a wait to get food. They have a clean dining room and bathrooms and a projection TV and free WiFi to help with the wait. Also, there's plenty of parking available. Literally out of everything except chopped brisket, sausage links, and sliced chicken at 7 PM on a Friday night. The chicken was particularly low-grade, too: spongy, odd-tasting, like sandwich meat. The food is good. They did have a 3 groups of 14 come in and ran out of ribs and potato's. We tried to order poppers and were told you have to order them the day before if you want some. That is sad as I was looking forward in trying them. The staff was a bit either lazy or just worn out. I had to ask them 3 to 4 times to clean off the table and they just looked at us like we were the issue. The 2-meat was a bit low on the meat amount. My son got the sasuage sandwich and it had more sasuage then the 2-meat combo. That to me was a bit different if you spend like 14 or 15 dollars on the 2-meat you should get the same amount. I am going to try it again for sure no question but if I have to call the day before for the poppers that is going to be a bit crazy but we might just have to so we get some. I moved to the OKC area about two months ago and have sampled a few BBQ joints both chain and independent. So far nothing has come close to Texlahoma. The inside is nice and clean with a newer rustic look and plenty of seating. The staff was very friendly and helpful to a first timer. At their recommendation I got a two meat plate with ribs,sliced brisket and okra/slaw as sides. Both meats were seasoned and cooked perfectly. The ribs pulled from the bone easily but weren't falling apart. The brisket wasn't to fatty and had nice pull to it. The sides were decent as well. Two different sauces were offered a hot and regular. Both were good but not a must have as the meat is prepared so well. read more
