My other half was waiting in rain for them to open. Some guy (probably owner?) drives up, looks as if we were going to rob place (which makes no sense in biz type attire), made it seem as if it was a bother and said he could let him by a cigar. Thanks for the kind gesture...but no thanks. That was our first and last attempt going there. He declined and left. Looks like a cool place but the guy in Lexus rolling up being "put out" by a new customer isn't what we look for in a cigar lounge ie relaxing. Nice Little Shop, Awesome Selection, Good - Fair Prices This shop is right around the corner from my office. I would've been there sooner, but I'm not into huukaas or whatever they are and that seems to be all that they have in the window. When I finally broke down and went in, I was shocked to see what a vast selection of cigars they had in wall mounted humidors! They even sell their own hand rolled cigars, just short of creating their own brand! I've purchased my favorite Rocky Patel cigars as well as their hand rolled brand. I've been there a few times now and "TG", the lady behind the counter & owner, has always been very helpful and willing to cut me a deal! I've even recommeded to her my friends from Yerger Tech to assist her with her website (which needs some work) and her Social Media Management (which is nonexistent). Anyway after checking the second humi and going back to the bar I settled on Fuente King and Blue Mountain 3 leaf wrap,,,,,,overall it was similar to a spot in Chicago-Hyde Park in flava and flair, but Hyde Park was deeper in selections. Stopped in yesterday to have a smoke and enjoy Sunday afternoon, however, I did not stay long because I was so disappointed. First, a common problem I experience as a woman who enjoys smoking Cigars is that often smoking rooms, and/or lounges cater to a male clientele. Subsequently, the wait staff (who is almost always exclusively female) tend to ignore us, female patrons, as they cater to our male counterparts and try to play up their "tip potential". Okay, that is just the nature of the beast, and TG was no different. In fact, the male bartender had to direct a waitress to take my order. I ordered a Rose however, I am sure what I was served was a light body Lambrusco, and I had to send it back because they served in a dirty glass (still had lipstick on it). The bartender was a little bit nicer, in that he assisted me in the humidor and frequently checked in with me, but my waitress continuously walked passed my like I was not there. It was so hot in this place! They had portable A/C units in the back room, however I do not think they were doing much. Does this place have A/C? It was so hot in fact some people were opting to sit on the patio instead of inside. I was very disappointed with the service and atmosphere at TGs, and they will not be my first (or second) choice when it comes to having a smoke in DC. This is a marginal at best spot. read more

Chill place to catch a smoke very friendly staff who were pleasant and attentive. Wide selections of cigars and prices were fair. Plenty of space to smoke and a vast amount of tv for sporting pleasures. The only suggestion to the owner is keep the ventilation up to par place get way to smokey and i was there with only five other smokers on a Sunday. I love to smoke but not be engulfed in the smoke. One person in our party of 3 was living in DC, but none of us had heard of or been to TG Cigar. We were looking for a lounge after dinner and decided on TG as it was close; recommended by a co-worker; and we normally prefer small local business. Upon entry we were just trying to find a spot for three and there really wasn't one The host, I assume a manager, did not mention an additional room that he would then open for others. The patio would have been a preference but it was raining. We then noticed that room being opened, we went in, and there was ample seating. Why the lack of effort to mention that spot? We were very nice, respectful potential patrons, and just wanted reasonable seating. We then ordered 2 beers and one top shelf tequila (no specific name). We had a cigar, and had one more beer and 2 more of the same 1 ounce tequila in an hour. We left and I went to pay the bill. 3 beers + 3 tequila shots = $468 with a 15% gratuity of over $50 built in for a party of 3. Really? We were only shown a top shelf Patron Anejo. We agreed, not really looking at it closely behind the bar. Patron Anejo is a standard name and did not raise an unusual question of cost. We order top shelf tequila frequently. There was no mention or disclosure of the cost per ounce (which was $110 per) any time during the process. That included the server, the bartender, or the manager. Yes, you could say we should have asked the price. I say that the high level cost should have been presented clearly, since we did not ask for that specific special name that it turned out to be. All we knew is that it was Patron Anejo, which normally is not $550 per bottle. I verified the Patron served to us was indeed $550 per bottle after getting back to the hotel (the name was on the bill). I am calling this unfair and unprofessional business practice. I go to DC frequently, but will never go to TG again in this lifetime. I suggest you don't either. There are many other honest, disclosing, and traditional cigar/bar options in DC. read more

I've been here 3 times and the reason I keep coming back is because of the atmosphere. TG is very knowledgable about cigars and seems to have a passion for making sure you get what you like. It's on my way home from work and whenever I have a "jones" for a good smoke, the selection is good and the prices are reasonable. My entrance into this shop was marked by a chime. Nonetheless, I had to wait for at least a minute for service. No, the shop was not busy (you will soon see why this fact is not surprising). Where was the saleswoman/owner of the one-person shop? In the back of the establishment, chatting on the phone. She did not interrupt the gossipy call when she saw me. When she over-charged me for a cigar (a mistake that probably stemmed from her divided focus), she refused to give me a refund! She shook her head, while continuing to gossip on the phone. When I told her how ridiculous I thought such service was, she paused the conversation (finally!). "F-U," she shouted while slamming her hand near the register. Nice people and nice little shop but extremely OVERPRICED. I would recommend you Order Online. This place sells $20 butane lighters that cost $2.50 on amazon. In my opinion TG CIGARS is a complete rip off and I will not purchase anything from them again. I bought a $20 rip-off butane lighter from them it broke within a week, i took it back to the shop and they wouldn't replace it. I understand you have to make a slight mark up but this is ridiculous. A funky, friendly place to get a cigar. When the lady who owns the place is in, she's been very helpful in making my choice. She pointed me towards the expensive but silky smooth Padron Serie 1926, and later to Romeo y Julieta when I was craving something stronger. More recently, the staff appear to be polite but not very informed of even the current selection. There's a love seat with a view of 9th street, a flat screen TV, and lots of lighters and other smoking accessories. It's small but has a pretty good selection. But it's the closest cigar store for about a mile in any direction, and the owner is a wonderfully kind lady. When I popped in last summer for the first time in several months she exclaimed she missed me and wondered where I had been. The clientele are culturally diverse and easy-going. It's those small touches that make it an appealing place to visit. read more

So I visit TG cigars ALL the time. I bring friends here (in-town and out-of-town). We smoke cigars here. We drink here. We eat here. I came here twice last weekend and purchased cigars both nights (along with drinks and food). The second night, I asked for a specific cigar. When the cigar was presented to me, it was frayed at the end. I was told that's how it comes, although I don't recall the last time I smoked it looking like that. Reluctantly, I took the cigar. As I was smoking the cigar it wasn't burning right. I mentioned to the cigar seller that it was a bum ass cigar and he shrugged his shoulders. I told him he owed me a cigar, but suffered through the smoking. It never burned the right way, wasting more than half of the cigar. I came back the next week and tell the same cigar guy that they owe me a cigar and he says I need to take it up with B. B is the manager. I found B, because B knows who I am...tell B what happened. B tells me there is NOTHING he can do. He says that I should have said something to him last week. I said I said something to the guy who sold the cigar to me. It's really the principal...I can afford a $12 cigar, but i also know between myself and my friends who have fraternized this black owned establishment for the last month (cause I don't even have to go back further) we have probably spent at least $1000. Make it right for your loyal customers who consistently introduce this spot to numerous people. This is bad business. read more
