Some start closing at 1:30 pm. If the Tamale guy sells out early, he leaves. There is a Central American hot food booth and a Tamales booth for those that want hot food. There are also pastries, fruits, eggs, vegetables, bread, clothing, jewelry, and miscellaneous stuff. Some booths are there consistently and others are hit and miss. It is a small market. Very convenient parking, lots of parking. It is very convenient for the Leisure World retirement community, who are near by. They do not set up on Major Holidays. The Tamale guy seems to be very popular because the Pork tamales sell out early. I have to get there at 9 am in order to be guaranteed to have Tamales to bring home.

OMG mouthwatering deliciousness!!! -the strawberries are plump- I'm talking 2inx3in -the strawberries range from super sweet to less sweet to a touch on the sour side -you must meet Maria, who runs the stand, is apart of the Thacker Farms family. -the strawberries are grown in Oxnard, CA and every day, Maria's brother drives the pickings of that day (same day!) to Long Beach. Talk about a hustling through LA traffic! -I have already been back to the stand 3 times in the last 12 days

And mind you, perhaps you'll get a better tasting batch of strawberries maybe? The stall is in a church's parking lot, I believe, although I parked on the street and walked over. Went around an hour before closing. It's $8 for a pound of strawberries, so definitely not cheap. Especially when you can get strawberries for roughly $2.5/lb at Costco or even as low as $2/lb at other stores. I have really fond memories of buying strawberries from Thacker Berries back in middle school, and them tasting AMAZING. I don't know if I need to wait until even later in the seasons, but these were marginally "better" if not equivalent to the strawberries I buy at any other supermarket. I don't consider the 4x pricing worth it. The real killer was when I was cutting my strawberries, and the first one which was really large and promising, essentially ended up being rotted all the way through... My experience was essentially the same when I bought strawberries from another of their booths a couple of years ago. There's nothing really that stands out that makes them worth the extreme upcharge. I cannot tell if the flavor/quality has dropped or if I need to wait until the weather gets even warmer. Not sure if I plan on trying them again after two expensive misses.

It would be nice to see if they can't get fresh produce and some other things. But hey like I said they are still in the start up mode. I'm sure in time it will grow and with the location and surrounding community I know it could do well. So good luck and I look forward too seeing the growth.
