We are passing through Greenwich to visit New Haven and found this place on Yelp due to good review. Disappointment after i took a first look at my food. Pad thai with think gravy sauce?!?!? Total disappointment after my first bite because its super salty. I always order pad thai whenever i first try a new thai restaurant, because if you dont get it right, i cant trust that you can get anything else right. However, it turns out that my husband's beef curry is pretty good with a aromatic coconut sauce and a surprising ingredient- mango, to bring out the sweet tropical flavor. (I spit out the siu mai btw, worst than the pad thai, i just couldnt get it down my thoat.) read more

Doesn't taste anything like Thai food! It's very Americanize - pricey and delivery takes way too long.

The food is so fresh and the inside of the restaurant has great decor. Great little place for really good Thai food.

I sometimes want to eat Thai food so much. It was yummy and maybe I want to go for lunch next.

Came here not knowing what to expect and was extremely pleased with the meal overall. Great service, fresh food, can't wait to come back!

yum yum yum their lunch special is awesome! they give you salad, little pot sticker type things, curry with rice and some crazy tapioca pudding type thing with corn in it. totally worth it. I also got soup and my total bill was $11.65! yay!!! i recommend what i got, which was mango curry. delicious. pretty cute lookin too. read more

Fellow yelpers - why have you steered me wrong? We love Thai and went here for lunch on a weekend while we were in town to see a museum. The shrimp in our tom yum soup tasted off. Then we figured out what was wrong when I got more shrimp in my pad thai. The shrimp had gone bad! It had this off taste that must have come from poor storage or preparation methods. Seafood handling is not something you want to skimp on or cut corners because it could kill someone. The dish that my husband was very unastounding. The service was fine but they never asked us how the food was, even though we were waiting to tell them about it. I need to contact the DH about the food poisoning danger. read more

Yum! Yum! Yum! So happy to have found Thai Basil! We had been going to Kit's Thai Kitchen in Stamford and noticed that the food went downhill, so we stopped going but couldn't find a suitable Thai replacement. Thanks to a fellow Yelper, we found out that Kit's chef and staff moved to Thai Basil. So happy to have delicious Pad Thai again! The eat-in Prix-Fix is a great deal. Loved the cold sesame noodles, drunken noodles and tofu with ginger too. We will definitely be back! read more

Zero stars. Tried to order lunch through eat24, and was then told order would be delayed an hour and they could only accommodate an order for bean sprouts (listed as upcharge on their menu for all items at $1.00) for $4.00!! Rude, not timely, zero customer service. Do not order for delivery from them if you want quality and service. read more

Excellent Thai cuisine in a cozy and friendly place, reasonable prices, friendly and helpful service. Thai Basil has become my favorite local Thai restaurant, especially being just across the street from the theater - perfect for dinner and a movie. read more

Sorry to say but worse Thai ever. We ordered a chicken/cashew and got a totally bland dish with no cashews. And a red curry with beef extra spicey that had no flavour/depth in the curry what so ever. Either shape up or close down. read more

We've dined here a dozen+ times. Its on our regular rotation of favorite places. Its not huge--perhaps 20 tables--in modern Thai decor. The food is consistently good. And the good-natured servers work hard to please. The kitchen is accommodating also. The must try item is tom yum soup. They'll take down the heat if you ask. Grilled chicken & shrimp was delicious and a generous portion. Good lunch specials, such as Vietnamese chicken. The only tricky thing can be parking. read more

I am sure that this restaurant is occasionally on their A-game but today they were NOT. We ordered delivery, it took TWO HOURS to get here, when the estimate time was 45 minutes. Then, upon arrival, my thai tea ice was mostly mostly melted, the Pad Thai was inedible as it was so spicy one bite had me in tears, and there is absolutely no sauce on the two Garlic Chicken dishes and the sides with it were completely bland and flavorless. Needless to say we are all 3 very very frustrated and do not intend to order from here again. Although the delivery driver was nice enough, it didn't make up for the food quality. read more

Good but I've had much better Thai food before not the best but the place is clean and looks good I'm giving a 1 star because of the staff we had just come from a long road trip and stopped to eat , after my 6 yr old daughter left the restroom one of the waiters came and told me to go back to the bathroom because there was an issue only to find out my little one had forgotten to flush !!!! I under stand she should've flush but come on !!! To come in and make me get up to flush and then see that my daughter start crying she felt very upset didn't want to stay there anymore she was so embarrassed there was no need to make a 6 yr old tired little girl feel like that I just got up and went to the car while my husband took care of the check I really don't take the time to review but when it comes to your kids I hope no one gets uncomfortable like that again read more

We are Thai mavens and often dine at Thai joints in Manhattan. We live near Greenwich and decided to take the plunge yesterday at Thai Basil and were happily surprised by the authentic cuisine, friendly service and judicial use of "heat" (chilis). The shrimp crystal rolls (summer rolls) were very good. The papaya salad hotter than a moonless night. The glass noodle salad delightfully refreshing. Three of us had the TB lunch special served in Bento Box (two red curry shrimp and one Massaman chicken curry which were excellent along with a bowl of Tom Yum Shrimp Noodle Soup that was very rich and delish and way more than a meal. DRUNKEN NOODLES here are perfect! delisioso!!! the waiters are enormously helpful and friendly - the second my gluten free friend asked what the noodles were made of, she said they could make whatever she wanted gluten free. I sometimes go to the movie theater across the street and this restaurant is a quick / easy place to grab dinner before or after the show. The prices are reasonable, the service is good, the portions are fairly large, and the food is good. It isn't the best Thai food ever but it is in a good location and gets the job done. read more

This place is very easy to get to. Street parking is available. I ordered a takeout with Pad Thai and Thai fried rice. Food was very spicy and hot. It came to approx. 20 bucks but it was a lot of food and worth it. Its a very modernized Thai cuisine place. I will definitely go there if I'm in the neighborhood. read more

This place cannot compare to California Thai food at all. Thai Basil in Berkeley is considered a fast food Thai place, but it is 10 times better than this place. My colleague and I were looking for light Asian food and since decent Pho was nowhere to be found in the area, we went for Thai. We had tofu basil stir fry and pork pad see ew. Knowing that pad see ew could be hit or miss depending on noodles, the stir fry was a safer bet and we were indeed correct. The noodles were stuck together and overcooked...and the sauce was too sweet. There was nothing special about the stir fry but it was much better tasting than the pad see ew. Each medicore dish went for about $13 when delicious Thai food can be bought for $7-8 back in California. I guess California really is the best! read more

I ordered their boxed lunch. It came with Beef with peanut and coconut sauce, salad, 2 dumplings, and rice pudding with corn. I was not able to finish my meal, but it was very good. I was too full to try the rice pudding, but with the corn in it, not so appealing. When I checked in on Yelp, I received a 10% off coupon off my bill! read more

After a long exhausting day with a dinner-craving for Thai we decided to find a place which would deliver. Thai Basil had good reviews and the menu on their website got us hooked. What a good choice! The food was delivered swift and portions were good. All three dishes tasted very good, were well balanced and completely satisfied our appetite for Thai. I am writing a review that is a bit old (a few months) but worthy of noting. This place was delicious! We arrived at 9pm thinking it would not serve us but we were told they closed at 930pm and they could get us in and out quick.
