*This review is for my DELIVERY experience only* So Tengda seems to have one of the quickest delivery times in Greenwich. Every time I've ordered off of the hot food menu, it arrives still really hot. The sushi rolls are also pretty decent, especially the shrimp tempura roll which has not 1, not 2, but 3 shrimp in it! I also like the little soy sauce dipping trays that they pack in the bags when you order sushi. Overall a solid option for Asian food delivery in the area. They don't even charge a delivery fee. read more

Amazing amazing Asian fusion. The majority of dishes are homemade. I'm a regular it's true but I can't say enough good things about my experiences. Whether it be just an appetizer or 2, the very fresh sushi, and homemade appetizers, you can't go wrong. Also if you just want a drink and an appetizer come sit at the bar. Was here for lunch today with 5 family members. My 15 year old nephew enjoyed the House Sashimi! The vegetable scallion pancake and house made pork dumplings were a hit! A family favorite! Food is pretty typical Asian fusion. Nothing exceptional but always reliable. Staff is always very friendly and welcoming. We ordered an assortment of nigiri, sashimi, and rolls for takeout during COVID. First, thank you for being open during this time. Portions and prices seemed fairly average. Most of the sushi was good, just wasn't amazing. This used to be our favorite place to eat, ever. We drove 20 mins to eat there last night and my sons chicken and broccoli (which he usually inhales it's so good) was disgusting. The menu is excellent as is the service and the ambiance is comfortable, although I find the tables are set a bit closer than I would like. It's so loaded with scallions that your family will banish you to the basement as you overwhelm them with onion fumes from your mouth. Not sure what happened. I have been coming to Tengda for almost 5-6 years now and the quality/service had always been 5 stars in my opinion. In the recent years post Covid I have noticed a massive decline in their fish quality. The service is the same, but sushi is almost inedible. I keep coming back to eat in and order out but I'm always disappointed. The best no fishy roll is the Salmon Skin. Its no longer super crisp and crunchy its tastes almost rubbery now. The spicy tuna... forget about it- i doesn't resemble tuna anymore. I wish I had a photo comparison. The salmon as well, tastes to fatty and chewy. I am not sure if this location is suffering post covid or if there is a new business owner/ manager, but whatever the change is- its horrible! Funny enough, I will keep coming back in hopes my experience changes. One consistent menu are the drinks! Definitely gives you what you are paying for! read more

I used to love this place and ate here atleast weekly. I don't know what happen but the service was terrible the other day and that was with a nearly empty restaurant. My sushi rolls were half the size they used to be 6 months ago and the seaweed was so dry and tough that it was inedible. I think I'm going to need to find a new place for my sushi. read more

Every time we come here for dinner, the food never disappoints. Our favorite appetizers are the Thai lettuce wrap and the crab cakes. They're both flavorful and tasty. This location can't even compare to the other Tengdas. One of the worst lunches I've ever had at a Japanese restaurant. Fishy, not at all fresh greasy salmon with no teriyaki flavor. Not at all fresh fish in the sushi rolls. Greasy dumpling appetizer. We were just really glad not to be sick the next day. Was it an off day? The place was packed. I went here bc a friend was dying to try it, oddly enough we tried to go 3 times unsuccessfully and the last i ended up going with other friends and the friend that was dying to try it never showed, weird! Either way, I'm not sure how I feel about the decor of the place... it wasn't very crowded on a thursday night which I thought was odd, then again apparently the economy isn't doing so well haha. The service wasn't amazing either and I look for that in a restuarant. We got chicken satay, thai crab cakes, edamame and the chicken spring rolls to start while we thought we were waiting for our 4th to show. I'm not a huge fan of peanut sauces/peanut butter sauces so I did not like the satay sauce but a friend of mine loved it! The crabcakes were huge!, extremely tasty and actually quite easy to pick up with chopsticks. The verdict is still out on the spring roll. Although they didn't have it on the menu my friend and I ordered a mango mojito and a lychee martini (my fave at asian places!) and they were able to make them which shows that they're quite flexible! Their watermelon mojito (altho not my favorite flavor) was quite tasty... the pomegranate flirtini... not the best altho great presentation! For entrees my friend ordered roasted chicken, my other friend ordered the satay bc they were in love and i had sushi - crunchy tuna, spicy shrimp and avo and the salmon and cream cheese. I have to say that they were all delicious, the wasabi had a good kick and everything was quite fresh! i would definitely come back to try some of their specialty rolls bc those looks amazing but i just couldn't fit anything else! Although as I said earlier service was not amazing, the server was extremely patient with us when we kept going back and forth about the fourth coming or not. I've visited this location a few times. The only thing I like is its location and their porch seating. Sometimes I just don't want to dine on a busy Greenwich ave. One big bonus point here is there's a convenient parking lot on the premises .. which is why I always end up here whenever I'm in Greenwich and too tired to find a parking spot and want Asian food. In terms of food ... it's just really 'meh'. Your typical Asian fusion with nothing extraordinary. Every time I left this place, I never felt like ... wow .. that was good food. GFDF (gluten free dairy free) rating - Four stars Overall rating - Four stars I went out to lunch with friends from work, and since I need to follow a strict gluten and dairy free diet, I was a little nervous that there would not be much or anything for me to eat. I gave the host a detailed explanation. I felt confident they understood everything, and they even told me that they could not be assured the rice was gluten free (which I truly appreciated, even if it meant I couldn't have it, since I understand some rice isn't 100% rice but can be fortified with wheat). I had sashimi and edamame. The sashimi was very fresh, and the edamame was good and not overly salty. They also had gluten free soy sauce available. My friends had rolls, pork dumplings and pad thai and everyone seemed to enjoy their food very much. Note that the parking lot is a bit small, so either go before they get full or wear good shoes to walk a bit! Below is the note I gave them when I arrived, if it is helpful to anyone. At first, the host looked at me for a moment as if wondering whether I was serious, and then after seeing my face that I was, he quickly made all of the arrangements necessary and came back twice to see that I was taken care of. The waiter also was very polite and helpful, and he emphasized that he understood the knife to cut the sashimi should not be the same one they used to cut tempura, etc. ***** I have celiac disease and am on a strict gluten free, dairy free diet. Please advise me of whether you can make the following accommodations to your usual menu. Thank you. My experience at Tengda last night was miraculous in my eyes - mostly because I've ordered takeout from here several times in the past and never thought much of it. But to actually dine here was a pleasant surprise. First off, the decor was that of a trendy sushi spot you would expect to see in NYC, except in Greenwich, CT. Second, the service was absolutely fantastic. Our dishes arrived quickly, hot dishes came piping hot and the waiter was very friendly. Now onto the food: For appetizers, we ordered the avocado salad, shrimp dumplings and chicken satay. All three were heavenly. I'm a sucker for avocados, and the salad was on par with all others I've tasted elsewhere. The shrimp dumplings came with green apple slices and nuam choc, a Vietnamese fish sauce. The dumplings resembled samosas rather than steamed dumplings, but they were so good. The chicken satay was also delicious. I would say that the highlights of the meal for me were the appetizers, as I came with my family who isn't very adventurous with their sushi. We went with the spider roll and chicken teriyaki. Lobster tempura was great, although I'm not personally a big fan of spicy mayo on sushi. If you are though, you won't be disappointed! The chicken teriyaki was also great - right amount of sauce and the chicken was very tender. For dessert, we ordered a chocolate lava cake with fresh berries and vanilla gelato. I've been to Tengda several times since moving to Greenwich from Palm Beach a year ago. It's the closest to Echo (old favorite by The Breakers) that I've found up here. I've consistently been pleased with the food and service. The prices are in line with top quality sushi/Asian restaurants, so I go here knowing/expecting a superb dining experience. The place can get a bit loud when crowded; however that is not the reason for my low score. The restaurant is in a converted house, so there is limited parking; which means the valet they provide is really the best option. Up until my last visit it wasn't a problem. After this past visit (the next day at a parking meter actually) I discovered that my parking meter change (quarters in a baggie in the glovebox) had been cleaned out by the valet. Not a lot of money, maybe $5, but it has seriously made me reconsider ever going to this place again. Spending $150 on a meal, enjoying every part of it, leaving completely satisfied, and then feeling robbed by the valet (after tipping him a $5) just isn't in line with my expectations of a quality establishment. read more
