    Fresh Mango with Sticky Rice
    Laur L.

First of all, the interior design and atmosphere is lovely. Took a mini break from dating but then I got pulled into the dating scene again so... date night! Didn't snap a pick of the apps/main courses but he got a dumpling app, Tom Kha, pad see ew. I got the ginger duck and mango stick rice to-go (pictured). I really wanted to like this spot more, I really did. But certain items are hit-and-miss. The dumplings were good, but the sauce for the Ginger Duck was very salty, like licking a salt cube. The duck itself was cooked well and was tender, and the rice that came with it was good too. It was a similar sitch with my mango sticky rice, where the mango and condensed milk sauce was immaculate but the rice itself was quite hard, like instant rice. I'm hoping maybe I just ordered the wrong things this time around.

One of my favorite restaurants in Ithaca!! Hidden gem 100p (meaning 100%, for all the non GenZers out there) The decor and inside seating area both relaxing and charming. Gold and brilliance complete the dining experience paired with delicious Thai cuisine made quick & fresh. Their service is intimate and personal, I'm always taken care of there. Walk in cold and hungry, leave warm and full [of yummy food and serendipity]. **thai tea is a MUST get** Bon appetit!

In the grand scheme of Ithaca's food scene, Thai Basil has always been fine... but it doesn't really offer anything exciting. I recently ordered from Thai Basil again (I've had it plenty of times over the years, but it's never been a favorite) because I needed somewhere different (besides Taste of Thai Express in Ithaca or Thai Elephant in Watkins Glen) for Thai food while I worked from home during this pandemic... and I'm really trying to support local restaurants as best I can. I'm boosting this rating from a 2/5 to a 3/5 because the delivery of my order through Ithaca To Go was actually quite speedy. If it wasn't for the promptness of the restaurant though in coordinating delivery via ITG, this would definitely be a 2/5 rating. Upon receiving my order today, I was reminded why I stopped really ordering from or going to Thai Basil... it's because I always feel like I have to doctor everything up, because everything really lacks in flavor. It's Thai food! How does it lack in flavor?! On top of that, there was very little beef in my pad thai. Just a couple of fairly small pieces. I had actually asked for both a bit of extra egg and a bit of extra ground peanuts in my pad thai, so I paid for extra meat while ordering online to help cover that cost (since there are no other "extra..." options to choose from). I added a note on my order to specify what I was doing, but that I still wanted beef in my pad thai. That said, I don't feel like I even got a normal helping of beef added to my order. *sigh* TL;DR I'm trying to support local restaurants during this pandemic, so opted to switch up where I ordered my Thai food from when going through Ithaca To Go. Unfortunately, Thai Basil really lacks flavor in their dishes, and I was reminded why I haven't visited or ordered from them for delivery recently. Not in a rush to re-order from Thai Basil, sadly.

I had green curry beef and it was super yummy !! It comes with rice and a bowl of super delicious beef curry with vegetables. Staff was very friendly and efficient. Clean establishment and cozy atmosphere. Overall it was great experience.

$8 worth of Thai ice tea after I took out the ice.

Typically I have a pretty satisfying experience here but today was not impressed. I ordered 2 thai iced teas online and requested no ice in the order. The guy working there today not only didn't honor the request but assumed it was because I wanted extra Thai iced tea. I just didn't want watered down cold extra cold Thai iced tea in 23 degree weather. After I took out the ice myself, there was only half a cup left. I can understand that he's super busy and the business is still a business but this left me pretty disappointed. They also skimped on white rice of all things. Overall disappointing takeout experience.

Great Thai spot in Ithaca, just off of the Commons. The indoor ambience was comfortable and the lighting just right. The food might be the best Thai I've eaten since living in Bangkok. We ordered Pad Kee Mao with chicken and w Basil Fried Rice. So. GOOD. The portion size was decent but not large, and the price was a bit high for Thai food but it was worth every penny. We will be back! Note on Cv-19: masks still required for all in July 2021 - until your food and drink is served.

Came here on a Monday afternoon as a group of 4. We were seated right away and had our food within 10 minutes of ordering. The Thai iced coffee was tasty and I highly recommend. I got the Pad See Aew with beef and it was wonderful. Came with plenty of beef and noodles!! One of my friends got the Paddon Curry with tofu and said it was good with a hint of spice. The only critique was that there wasn't a lot of tofu in the dish. One of my friends got the pad Thai with chicken. The noodles looked similar to normal spaghetti noodles but was very happy with the dish. (Plenty of chicken in the dish!!) Our other friend got the drunken noodles with tofu and the only critique was not enough tofu. Overall, the service was very good and food was tasty! If I'm ever in the Ithaca area again I would come here!!

Found this place with plenty of seating on a Saturday night. Brightly lit and well decorated interior with sectioned-off areas so it doesn't feel too crowded. Extensive menu with multiple specials to boot - settled on the Spring Roll to start ($6), Duck Over Rice ($19) and a glass of local red ($8). Starter is enough for two people to share; tightly packed veggies paired alongside a hearty peanut sauce. Entree is a large portion of marinated duck on top of a bed of steamed rice. Tender meat that wasn't too fatty and flowed into the rice well. Assorted greens didn't add much. Service started off well, then waned towards the end of the night. Pricier than I expected, but a solid spot for Thai food.

    Pad Thai noodles

Visiting Ithaca for couple days, ordered Pad Thai noodles to go. This dish contains green beans, carrot, Napa , green onion, tofu, egg and peanuts . In my opinion it is very different Pad thai noodles than all the other pad Thai I had tried. This dish is on the very sweet and sour side ( Americanize).

Their Thai tea is far better than Thai Basil, as is their food. When I organized events with the Cornell Southeast Asia Program, Tamarind was my preferred catering as well. Best pad see ew in town, with the perfect noodle texture and rich flavor (from wok energy). Love the coconut sticky rice dessert (and the gifted ceramic dishes which come with). Also highly recommend the mango sticky rice. Non-spicy: Yellow curry, Pad See Ew, Pad Thai. Spicy: Green curry (had it with chicken, duck) My only concern is how understaffed it often is. Usually one staff member to manage the whole floor, and kitchen staff in the back. And once a phone order was missing a dish (probably due to the poor single person managing the whole floor as cashier, host, wait staff, etc). This often sets take-out orders back as well. Usually on slower days, it's fast (20 mins). On bad days...like Cornell graduation weekend, it will take an hour+. I think there was a huge group of over a dozen in the tiny restaurant, ordering lots of food & drink. Came in to pick up at the time projected & sadly had to hang out at the restaurant an extra 30 mins + because of the overwhelmed staff. Let's hope they tipped generously! I would love to dine in one day, if they ever set up a table outdoors. In the meantime, for takeout, ALWAYS call to check on your order, given how busy & behind on orders they often get. The food is still worth us coming back again and again!

This time (Jul 2026) was like our visit a couple of years ago. The menu was rather short, and we didnt see many middle-of-the-road or ordinary comfort-food offerings. Their local sourdough bread appetizer was fresh and nicely flavored, and we chose the fresh olive oil side just because it's so luscious. We could have had chive-butter. The marinated olives were flavorful and a little spicy. Their NY-cheese board had a tasty selection of soft and hard cheeses. The salads had choices of a chutney-paneer based mix, which was refreshingly creative. And we liked the Farmstand berry-cherry goat-cheese almond salad. These were all appealing. Chickpea salad or stew, tofu or salmon over steamed veggies, or smoked-trout open-face tartine sandwich, each sounded good, but we didnt bite. None of the mains called to us. I guess we just felt that none of those menu items screamed out we-gotta-come-to-this-restaurant. The food tasted like just homemade and fresh, but not exceptional. I ordered the tofu green curry and the man ordered the Moosewood burger. Neither dish was hot upon arrival at the table - more like lukewarm. The man says the burger wasn't particularly flavorful, although the roasted potatoes it came with were very good. The curry was flavorful and spicy, although the curry sauce was on the thin side. We didn't order appetizers (other than the olives) or dessert, so I can't comment on either. The service was friendly and efficient. When I mentioned that the food hadn't been served hot, the server removed two of our drinks from the bill as compensation, which was appreciated. I would give it another try before leaving Ithaca, but my expectations will be tempered on a second trip.
