We've been visiting this one since it opened about a decade ago in its first incarnation as a smaller place. It has become a favorite of the area. On a national comparison, it deserves 4 to 4.5 stars. For anything Thai within 100 miles of Venice, it is the best. So bump it up to 5! The Pad Thai and Nam Sod are always reliable. They can make things Thai Hot if you want to clean your sinuses. Most of the other dishes are good to excellent most day. Two warnings: We sometimes find the curries too sweet. The once excellent Goi Cuon are now a bit of a disappointment. The owner has an excellent memory for return visitors. Highly recommend. read more

Simply the best Thai food in the area (including Sarasota)! This is a cozy restaurant in a small strip center just on the mainland side of the Venice Ave. Bridge. Everything is terrific and cooked to order. The curries are great as are the soups and stir fries. Service is prompt and friendly with Kwan, the owner, cheerfully greeting her friends and customers. During busy times, parking can be a challenge so grab a spot on the street if you see one. They also do a brisk take out business. Highly recommended! read more

Been there twice, once for carry out. Our chicken curry was a bowl of onions, with a small chicken breast on top. Took it back and said the cook was tired. They wanted to add to the bowl of onions, and when we said no they got short. We explained a whole bowl of onions isn't correct and please make it the correct way. Second time, a year later went in to dine. We were first to arrive for dinner and got waited on quick, but took almost 30 minutes for plain fried rice and bowl of vegetables. I ordered a dish described as jumbo shrimp and chicken grilled over sautéed vegetables with curry sauce. My husband said curry on the side. Anyhow the Waitress brought the dish that were medium size shrimp and white chicken and vegetables that looked steamed. Nothing about the dish looked grilled. We told the waitress and she said oh it's not stated right on the menu we have new menus that describe it but she never gave us the new menus so what we got was not what we ordered. We also brought it to the attention of the cashier and she said oh yeah you complained about the shrimp so she already knew that we had complained but no one had the brains to adjust the bill accordingly and deduct the price of the very bland dish that what was supposed to be authentic Thai food. We were one a trip and found that there is little to none vegan dining in this part of florida. But fortunately this place has a separate vegan menu! I had the tofu broccoli stir fry which had a sauce that just tasted like liquid aminos. I wouldn't get it again but I wanted something my toddler could have. It was simple and good. My husband got the volcano tofu tempura which was amazing--great flavor, great spice. We got the fried spring roll appetizer, also delicious and not something we find often. Service was very slow on what I assume was a busy saturday night. We were dying from the heat of the dish for at least 20 minutes until we were able to get a refill of our waters. I take one star off because of how uncomfortable it was not having water for most of a hot meal. Servers did seem very nice though. We would love to go again! read more

Kwan and her staff always deliver fresh, amazing food with impeccable service. Crab Rangoon has enough curry to make you take notice, but not overpowering. The crispy duck medium is savory and enough spice to feel the bite but not annihilate the dish. Beer Lao Dark compliments each dish perfectly and keeps us ordering more. Best Thai food EVER. Yes. I said it. I am obsessed with Venice Thai bistro. It's close to work so unfortunately I can visit whenever I'd like! I've never been disappointed with the food or the service! The place is always packed- which never surprised me. The chicken pad Thai, hot, is outstanding. Yes I know that's a hard dish to mess up- but this one is perfect - every time! The Red and panang curry are delicious. Drunken noodles are great. This restaurant is great! We usually get takeout from Thai Bistro, but have gone in and sat down a couple of times. The food is always delicious and made to order. The service is wonderful and it has a very comfortable atmosphere. It seems that every time I stop by Thai Bistro the place is filled with regulars. I usually get vegetable Panang curry, which is always perfect. We have also tried the spring rolls and seafood soup, which were both delicious as well. The best part is that everything is pretty inexpensive. It cracks me up every time we go to a Thai restaurant and my husband orders "Thai hot" and the ladies look at him with disbelief and try to talk him out of it.
