No one there... all I heard was chopping coming from the kitchen. Ring the bell, yell hello a few times. Waited in the lobby for a good 5 or so min. Chicken Satay was okay. The peanut butter sauce was oily, the cucumber onion vinegar - not enough! The Som Tum... Huge Dissapointment! Not sour, not spicy, WHERES THE SALT FROM THE FISH SAUCE!? They add shredded carrots and shredded cabbage to hide the fact that there's so little papaya in there. The cabbage is on the bottom, and they soaked up whatever flavor was in there. This place is underrated especially for Duluth. Prior to coming to Duluth I made it a goal to have every Pad Thai I could find in the basin and in the San Fernando valley. 50-some pad thai meals later, I'm pretty particular to that one dish. The Pad Thai here is medium to high range and the Satay is similar... Clearly authentic - this husband and wife team (only from friends I've heard he's American and she's Thai... 3rd person but it seems to make sense) have done us a favor staying in Duluth and cooking something authentic and delicious which is RARE to find here. The curry and other dishes I tried are in the 'OK' range, but the Pad Thai and Satay are worth the trip! read more

I can't believe that my order came to $57 something and the food being very disappointing.The only good thing I have to say of their delivery time is very prompt and courteous. I ordered the Thai Basil entree in beef, I received a very tiny container that was only a quarter full. This entree star should have been basil but only found 2 small leaves of it. You definitely do not get quality or quantity for this $14 entree. Then there is the summer rolls I ordered in chicken. Are you familiar with that bag of lettuce from the grocery store that is mostly lettuce with a few sprinkles of carrots and cabbage? That is what 90% of my rolls contained with the smallest sliver of chicken. No hint of rice noodles or cilantro as advertised on their menu.This costed me $6 for the two rolls. I ordered a side of rice noodles to go with my entree, $3 isn't bad at all in my opinion but a piece of mysterious garbage in it? Finally I bring into this expensive and disappointing meal was the wine. I was expecting a better bottle of wine for the price I was over charged. Website stated $27 for a bottle but I was charged $29. I come from the west coast, I'm very aquatinted with real and authentic Thai food, this was a sad attempt to be called Thai food. read more

First and only try we give this restaurant. The woman who took our order was so rude I decided not to eat there. She then chased a woman out side and screamed at her for using the bathroom without buying anything. As we waited for our order she rolled her eyes at the man after us when he asked what was in the seafood special he put his menu down and walked out. So we ordered basil chicken and Thai summer rolls. First there was zero basil in this dish and was so oily and salty my husband took two bites and could not eat it. The "Summer rolls" well that was a joke. Literally one rice noodle with mixed bag lettuce. The lettuce was brown and slimy. These two items cost us $20 and it was money wasted. If you have a large group, do not come here. Our group consists of 5 adults and 5 kids. The store was empty and we were there at around 1:30pm. The person taking the order was an older white guy and he was stressing about our large order. He initially came to get our orders about 5 minutes after giving us the menus but we weren't ready so he left. We waited about a good 20 minutes but he never came back so we had to catch him up front. He was taking our orders but was stressing that he had to write our orders on another page when he should have started at the top of the paper, not in the middle of the paper. He kept messing up the spelling but he had to make sure the spelling was correct. After partially taking our orders, we just canceled our orders and left because at this point it was better to go elsewhere. read more

I don't mind paying $15-$19 for lunch, but I also expect good food, clean and comfortable space, good vibe, and decent service at that price. Thai by Thai misses the mark on most of those. Visited Duluth from the twin cities for the weekend and was craving some Thai food. I decided to come here and boy it was a big mistake. First off, it's probably one of the most expensive Thai restaurants I've been to. We got some pad see ew, curry and some cream cheese wontons. Our total was over $40. Second, the food was not good at all. They put apples slices in my Massaman curry wtf? Did they run out of potatoes and think I wouldn't notice? Who the hell puts apples in Massaman curry? The noodles for the pad see ew were all chopped up. The only decent thing were the wontons. If you're ever in Duluth and craving Thai food, do yourself a favor and drive 2 hours down to the twin cities for some real Thai food. You won't regret it. read more

Ordered the Tom Kha w/ shrimp and without cilantro (tastes like soap to me) they sent some other soup w/ shrimp and cilantro. Couldn't bother to pick up the phone when I called to ask for the correct order. Voicemail was full so there wasn't a way to leave a message even if they were busy at the times that I called. I eventually just ate what they sent after digging out the cilantro. It was so sad and bland, I ended up picking out the shrimp, carrots and broccoli to eat and tossing the rest. We love Thai food and have tried several different Thai restaurants. I would rate Thai by Thai right at the top. We had the Pad Woon Sen, lemon grass chicken, and the Thai fried rice and it was all delicious. The spices were amazingly flavorful and the veggies were all very fresh. All the meat was cooked to near perfection and the vegetables in the curry and Paf Thai were cooked very well, not burnt! Let's just start by saying I wasn't expecting much but there is no other place in Duluth to get Thai food at all and I had a craving. I got a green curry and I have never had a worse meal in my life. It was watery with no flavor and certainly no spice. it literally tasted like watery soup and wasn't even flavored like Thai food. Clearly no Thai person was involved in this. in addition, it was $17 and I literally got about an eighth of a cup of rice. I thought to myself... What is the point of even giving me rice? I placed an order at 5:38 for delivery. The guy who answered the phone told me it would be 20-30 minutes. An hour goes by with no delivery, so I called to see if there was a problem. The guy says "15 people came in after you called." I said ok, I placed an order an hour ago, my bank is already charged, what's going on? He asked if I could come get my food..I told him no. He said it would be another 20 minutes and I asked for a refund so I could order dinner, I have been waiting for, somewhere else. We liked the green curry with vegetables and tofu and the golden tofu appetizer but the drunken noodles and the other pad basil with tofu dish were very salty.
