Not ever having been to this restaurant, I stroll inside the Holiday Center and notice the sign "seat yourself". Okay, I thought, I'll just sit. Now, as I walk in, I was not greeted by a single person (there were apparently two white male workers; note: this is a japanese restaurant but there were no asian people present, which confused me). I sat for a bit, while one of the white men talked to a woman.. so I guessed that I'd have to go up to the counter to order. I ask the guy behind the bar if I order with him.... He looks at me like I'm the stupidest person alive, makes a motion to whatever he's doing behind the counter, and says, "I can't do it, since I'm doing all this... OBVIOUSLY", yes the last part was yelled in a sarcastic, rude manner. I got up and walked out, without having tried the ramen. How I wish I would've tasted it, and invited all my friends, but alas never again. I encourage everyone to avoid this place. There is no need for rudeness in this world, especially for someone who was so eager to be a valued customer.

Even though we are visiting Duluth during this crazy time of the wild fires, Duluth Grill made our trip worth it! My family ordered the usual staples: biscuits and gravy, pancakes and sausage, and bacon/eggs/sausage. All were hearty portions and perfectly prepped. I tried the "Triple B" which turns out to be a Midwest version of Bibimbop. Made with manoomin (wild rice), beef/pork mix, kimchi, marinated kale- probably my fave of the dish. The combo is a deliciously perfect power meal to start any day and weekend right! I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by the care they take in procuring local ingredients- even their kale and some herbs are from their own lil garden. We decided to see for ourselves as the menu, other positive reviews sounded like it was an incredibly good place to go. It is. It was. It was busy, being a Sunday morning especially, but the staff was handling it all well from our perspective . I used to manage restaurants a long time ago and was impressed with the flow. Our waitress, Natalie, was delightful, knew the menu well to describe and answer questions, and we were not wanting for anything. She checked on us, always grinning and managing the iace well. I had the banana bread pancakes. A perfect choice ! They came and looked like a picture stacked up and flowing down with Carmel, maple bourbon syrup, marzcapone cream and nuts. So delicious. I took half home and enjoyed the rest later. Heated up perfectly with a 20 second zap in micro. My son had the corn beef hash skillet and said his was just as good as mine. We both agreed that we had no idea why reviews were negative, especially going on a busy morning. We will be going back every time we visit. I recommend you do too.

The pricing was spot-on and fair. The meh: The seating area to eat, just past the cash registers is pleasant enough, but needed to be cleaned. It's very utilitarian, and served its purpose... but a more inviting space would certainly be welcome. Overall: Probably a 3.5. They also understood when one of the patrons had stated they had a shellfish allergy and didn't need any other explanation. Fourth, the food was priced very fair with very large portions.
