I've been going to Thai Dishes for over a decade. It's nostalgic for me every time I visit. From the atmosphere, to the staff, and to the food, it feels like home to me. Having driven by that unique building on Sepulveda countless times, I always thought, "I need to try that place someday." When I suggested one of our usual dinner spots, my wife said, "Hey, let's go to that Thai place you've been wanting to try." Well, reporting back. It's outstanding. From the dramatic Polynesian-inspired roofline and colorful glass panels that give the space an almost church-like feel to the warm, inviting interior, the place has a ton of character. But the real star is the food. Every dish was incredibly flavorful, perfectly prepared, and not the least bit greasy. Honestly, just delicious. The portions are generous too. We ordered three dishes and still came home with leftovers. The highlight of the evening was meeting Ben, whose parents opened the restaurant many years ago. His dad still comes in every morning to make the curry bases from scratch. That kind of family pride and dedication really shows in the food. What a delightful place. They have a pretty diverse lunch special menu with everything from rice dishes to soups and noodle dishes, so there are lots of options to choose from. I ordered the kra pao crispy pork belly. The portion was generous and a good value for the price. It was a solid meal, though nothing that really stood out to me. The restaurant has plenty of seating, a private parking lot, and the servers were friendly. We came on a Saturday afternoon, and it wasn't too busy, so it made for a relaxed lunch. I arrived at the restaurant 10 minutes before opening and noticed the receptionist cleaning the glass and wiping the outdoor patio getting things ready for customers. She was friendly and waved from the inside. Once I came in, I seated at the outdoor patio where I requested. I was greeted by the waitress, who took my order in a great timely manner, and enjoyed the beautiful ambience of the outdoor patio while I waited for my food. The Thai tea was absolutely delicious. Came in for a quick soup for this cold and this was the perfect place for it! Service was friendly and attentive. My Thai tea was perfect and so was my iced water. I got the Tom yum chicken noodle soup and it was a hearty serving it came with a side salad. Everything was yummy in both dishes,only down fall for me would be that I cannot request it spicy. Yes they give you chili paste, powder and pickled chili but none of it was spicy enough. That's just a personal preference but the soup alone was so flavorful and full of noodles and mushrooms. It has been years since I've been to Thai Dishes Manhattan Beach but today I made it back to this spot. I've always been a fan of their lunch specials and I was curious to see how it is years later. Their lunch specials now is what they call "Street Food Lunch." They've got 20 different items for $15.95 to choose from and each dish comes with their house salad with sesame dressing. This lunch special is served until 2pm daily. I was impressed with the variety that the Street Food Lunch menu offered. I love how they had some classic favorites as well as unique dishes that aren't commonly found. They had House Noodle Soup, Ba Mee Hung, BBQ Roasted Duck, Mint Leaves with Ground Chicken, Cashew Nut Chicken, Kao Pao Crispy Pork Belly, Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork Belly, Pad Thai Noodles with Shrimp and Chicken, Ba Raan Noodle Soup, Kao Soi Chicken, Mixed Vegetable, Garlic Pepper Pork, Spicy Eggplant Tofu, Spicy Fried Rice Chicken, Tom Yum Kai Noodle Soup, Pad Kee Mow Chicken, Pad See You Noodle with Beef and Chinese Broccoli, Kang Karee Chicken, Kang Pad Beef and Green Curry Shrimp. Certain dishes you could substitute protein for an extra $1 or add egg for $2. I was actually pleasantly surprised that several of the dishes already included egg. It was hard to choose from the good variety of items but my friend and I chose to get their Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork Belly and their Kao Soi Chicken. The Kao Soi Chicken was beautifully plated. It came with a tall stand of fried egg noodles on top of coconut curry broth with chicken, egg noodle, onions and pickled package. The Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork Belly came with lots of pork belly with stir fried Chinese Broccoli and sides of white rice and fried egg. Both dishes were delicious! I loved the creamy, rich coconut curry curry broth from the Kao Soi Noodle. There was lots of tender chicken in the soup and it paired well with the egg noodles I also tried my friend's dish and appreciated the crisp pork belly and flavorful Chinese Broccoli. The Thai flavors were on point! I definitely want to come back and try more of their Thai Street Food. I enjoyed lunch here very much. Not only were the entrees flavorful, they were also large in size. I even had enough for dinner. The customer service and hospitality at this place seriously could use some work. We ordered the Crying Tiger with white rice, water, and coke. It was disgusting as the crying tiger had bugs crawling on the plate and we informed the waiter. Additionally the meat was grey in color. There was no apology from the staff nor anyone trying to actively resolve our experience. They made us pay for the rice and coke ‍ A total of $8 for bugs on your plate I guess, I reallly could not fathom being charged when your plates come with live insects crawling all over. I LOVE pad see ew ("Pad See You") and I've always thought this dish, while not easy to master, as difficult to mess up -- I was wrong. Additionally the vegetable egg rolls were tasteless. I've been going to this place for over 14 years. I tried their Pad Thai early on and was not impressed. Yesterday, I decided to give it another chance in hopes they improved their recipe. It turns out that they did! I remember it being dry and tasteless (which explains that nearly 14 years of avoiding it). This one, as my picture shows, had flavor and came with a generous portion as part of their lunch special. I'm not sure I'd get this regularly because their other dishes (especially their Pad See Ew) are more my style, but I'm glad I can come here whenever I'm looking for some good Pad Thai in the area. read more

Hubby had a hankering for Thai. I was still stuffed from lunch. So we went to this Thai place. Were warmly greeted and immediately seated. Ordered Thai ice tea and beef pad Thai. Hubby ordered Thai ice tea too (really?) and pork pad Thai. The tea was served quickly and it was really funny. My idea of ice tea apparently was different than the Thai ice tea provided. My husband had a puzzled look because it appeared we were served iced coffee. But tasting it proved it wasn't coffee. We both liked it, so that was great. Will have to remember this again. Pad Thai was good. My problem was that I wasn't hungry for the massive amount of food served. And even my husband couldn't finish half of his. So I told the server our not finishing wasn't a reflection of the food. Only that unfortunately we weren't able to finish. So note to self, don't eat out if you're full- even if you're traveling and will probably not be in the area again (sigh). Anyway, this place is worth visiting. We love Thai! read more

We dined at Thai Dishes MB during the Thanksgiving weekend. I love their food! We ordered the usual fares we'd order in other Thai restaurants in the LA area. Their Pad Thai was delicious. The sauce was great and generous, not skimpy unlike in other restaurants. Also the Sautéed Mix Vegetables was flavorful. It's highly recommended. We also ordered the Thai BBQ Chicken but were a bit disappointed. Although tender pieces of chicken, the color was overly dark that looked like they were overly marinated in sugar and soy sauce. They didn't quite look appetizing. But as l said, they were tender and good. Our wait lady, Summer, was very nice and attentive to our needs. She is the human factor that would make you come back next time. We love her personal touch to our dining experience. Also, we loved the ambience and modern decor. Went to lunch here with some family and I have no complaints! The food was delicious, we got the Chicken Pad See Ew, the Pad Kee Mow, and Thai Iced Tea, I was very tempted to get the Kang Ka-Ree but decided I'll try it next time. The chicken was so flavorful and shredded just the way I like it, not chunky like some other places. The service was great, our waitresses were super friendly and informative of the menu for us. My partner works nearby so he wanted to take us to a place he frequented with his co-workers. We ordered quite a lot like egg rolls, noodles, the crab fried rice, tom yum soup, etc. I can't remember all the dishes but I do remember the egg rolls was something my 8 yr old wanted but it was not the best egg rolls I had. The stuffing was vegetarian, I believe? I have been picky about egg rolls since I was young and 3 out of 4 times, they are not impressive. This included. Only my 8 yr old wanted to take the rest home. The highlight for all of us was definitely the crab fried rice with actual chunks of crab and a very deep-fried egg with the crispy sides on top. Delicious and highly recommended. The tom yum was delicious, the flat noodles a crowd favorite, etc. The design of the place reminded me of a church with the stained glass wall. I wonder if it was meant to be one back in the day. They had really good service and the place was packed for a Wednesday night. As for the potsticker they were not overly greasy and were pretty light as far as potstickers go. They came with a pretty good sauce: slightly spicy and slightly sweet. As an appetizer, it was perfect for preping you for the main course since it didn't form a rock in my stomach. The fried rice was good, but boy when they say spicy they mean it. I ordered mine hot, and it whooped my butt. This thing is packed with pepper seeds and constantly sets fires wherever it lands. Be weary of the heat levels at this restaurant. I really like Thai food and been by here several times, so I stopped in and tried it out. The ambience is nice but it's a small dining area with cramped aisles. Right off the bat, I had to knock a star off because the two parties sitting on either side of me, arrived after me and all received their meals before me. This doesn't happen to me often, so I was kind of surprised and whether intentional or not; it's a noteworthy faux pas.
