I usually go to the Redondo Beach location but decided to try the El Segundo restaurant. I am writing this review after 2 visits. As far as decoration and space, I like the El Segundo location better. Also, the cocktails were well balanced and refreshing. Additionally, the staff from hostess to our server and busser were all amiable and professional. The downside was the food, which is the most important thing for the restaurant and determines if I will come back. I used to be so delighted at the flavors and creative little twists at Little Sister. However, the food these past two visits to Little Sister was basic at best. For example, we ordered the papaya salad and there was no flavors as in no dressing. We ordered the short ribs and the flavor was uneven and bland in 2/3rd of the meat and the noodles were also dry. Even their famous garlic noodle and crepe was too soggy and even bitter (overcooked ingredients). I was with good friends and with the cocktails, we still had a fun night but was very disappointed at the food has really gone down in the past few years. The sad thing is the quality of the ingredients was not the issue. Seems like the prep and execution has gotten lax and lazy and it really felt like the kitchen was phoning it in. I am still giving it a 3 stars instead of less stars to wish them improvement. The fried rice with prawns and imperial rolls still holds up. And due to their service staff, I cannot give them less. These days, it is hard for restaurants to get professional and decent staff so please appreciate them. read more

Honestly, pretty disappointed with both the food and the service. The wait for our food was noticeably long, especially watching tables that arrived well after us get their meals first. Even basic things like water refills were slow. And unfortunately, once the food finally arrived, it wasn't one of those "okay, this was worth the wait" moments. We ordered the braised beef and garlic noodles with chicken. Neither really stood out enough to make up for the overall experience. The pho and salads seemed to be coming out much quicker, so maybe those are the better move here. Service was also a miss. At one point our server spilled water on our phone/table, said they'd be back to clean it up, and then completely forgot. Not a huge deal on its own, but combined with everything else, it added to the frustration. On the positive side, the location itself is clean, spacious, and seems like it could be a nice casual spot to get together with friends or family. Love this place! This was our first visit. We made a reservation on opentable and were seated outside under a big umbrella. The host and server were both wonderful. Pez was our server and she was so helpful with our menu choices. We had the handmade dumplings, spring rolls, and imperial rolls. Plenty of food for 2. Everything was flavorful and fresh. We loved the spring rolls and the imperial rolls most of all. The dumplings were delicious as well but the rolls were full of flavor and lots of crudites with them which we loved. The parking at the point can be challenging so patience is a must. There is lots to see and shop at this wonderful shopping/eating center but Little Sisters is a must! Husband and I needed a last minute date night restaurant and so glad we came in. We made a reservation through OpenTable and got sat right away. Our server was very friendly and gave great recommendations. Food was really good only wish they had more dessert options. Ordered their chocolate cake but not a big fan. We usually go to the Redondo Beach location, even though this one is closer to home. We decided to try this location for a change because we love Little Sister and have always had great experiences at their other locations. Unfortunately, this location missed the mark. We waited over an hour for our food, to the point that they were closing. The manager even asked if we were ready for dessert, and we had to remind her that we hadn't received our dinner yet. When the food finally came, it was obvious it had been rushed. Everything was very mediocre and nothing was a "wow." The drinks were good, and the location itself is beautiful, but the food and service were disappointing. We'll stick with the Redondo Beach location. read more

Came here for lunch today and it just so happen to be Golden Hour so I ordered the chicken and mushroom eggrolls, garlic noodles and lemongrass beef w/ broken rice and a cosmo. Cosmo was 10/10 Lemongrass Beef 7/10 as some of the beef was dry. Garlic noodles 4/10 tasted watery and they were overcooked liked they had been boiled way too long. Chicken and Shiitake Rolls 8/10 the flavor was up and down but mostly good. The leftovers did smell really bad in my car so I had to throw them out while I ran errands before I made it home to finish them. read more

I visited Little Sister with family on a Saturday night for dinner. I'll start with the positives. The atmosphere of the restaurant is quite nice. I liked all the decorations and the music too. Even though it is pretty lively, there are very good acoustics so you can actually have a conversation without having to raise your voice. The parking, (since there are lots of other shops around,) was free and very easy. I ordered the broken bowl, which was tasty and a pretty good portion size. To me, the biggest issue was the service. We were a party of 5 and definitely slow to order, which was on us. However, we ended up being at the restaurant for over two and a half hours because it took so long for our food to come out. For example, we ordered the crispy fried prawns as an appetizer and were told it would take ~25 minutes. The prawns finally made an appearance at the end of the meal, over an hour after we had ordered them. The restaurant didn't charge us because it took so long, which was appreciated, but I would've simply preferred if the appetizer arrived at the beginning of the meal and not at the end. I will note that the waiters were very friendly and helpful. But it was a clearly a busy night and it seemed like our order just got lost in the whirlwind. My guess is that other tables ordered the same popular dishes as us and that our orders ended up going to them. I noticed a couple of other tables that were seated after us who got their food, ate, paid, and left all before our entrees arrived. Overall, this place is just OK. This is a hard one for me to recommend to others because I liked the crispy prawns and the broken bowl. The food was good and the restaurant was cute. Still, it was pricey and I didn't feel like the service we received justified that. So, maybe skip this place or visit on a less busy weeknight. read more

Imperial rolls one of my fav wrap the roll in lettuce add basil noodles cilantro jalapeños roll and dip is the amazing sauce. We planned a family event and had our order cancelled two hours before with no warning, which left us scrambling. It was frustrating, especially as long-time loyal customers. But to their credit, Megan and the team followed up, addressed our concerns sincerely, and handled it with real care. They never asked us to update our review so they genuinely accepted their mistake and now I feel bad lol. That kind of accountability goes a long way. To start with the good, this place is pretty and has outdoor seating in the Point. However, the little kids play area is right next door and they lodged a soccer ball into the table next to us shattering dishes. Luckily no one was hurt. The food concept does not make sense to me. The portions are huge but proportions are off. I had the tofu bowl which had about 2 cups worth of cooked rice which tasted meh. The toppings of crispy tofu, eggplant and okra were delicious but once I ate those off the top, the rest was of little interest to me -- including some kind of side bowl of julienned vegetables. Also didn't like the vegan fresh rolls. They tasted strongly of vinegar but nothing else. The bourbon oolong tea cocktail (I forget the goofy name for it) tasted only of bitter tea. Service was ok once they finally took our order. We were seated, but saw no server or water for a good 15 minutes. And they weren't that busy. All in all would not go back. read more

Every single time (10/10) they have messed up our order, they seem to have a high turnover since it always different people working the turns and its just crazy to think they can't get a single order right. The Baseline: For a Vietnamese cafe the Pho must be quality, the accompaniment add-in ingredients must be fresh, the meats must be well prepared, and menu must have authentic Vietnamese flavors Food: The food is high quality family style servings Vietnamese food that is great for small groups. For starters we had the Crispy Pork & Shrimp Spring Rolls and the sweet and spicy chicken wings which was a really great start of the meal. These are great starters that will not over fill you up if you are sharing. For entrees we had the Broken Bowl (which saves you on needing to order a side of rice and the chicken needs a little more lemon grass flavor), the Suon nuong grilled pork chop (a must have because the meat was really good and well flavored with Vietnamese spices), and the Bo Kho braised beef (more of a soup and a heavy star anises after taste which I have a personal dislike for). The drinks were really good and I liked the Hanoi Heatwave which was good on the spice level. Service: Good service with a staff that collaborates their duties together. They asked about allergies which was very nice due to a shell-fish allergy person at our table. Ambiance: The look and feel of the restaurant was awesome. The bathroom was clean. f you're looking for a fantastic night out or a solid first-date spot, this place is a winner. The vibe is relaxed, hip, and fun -- and the food is genuinely excellent. I always get the lemongrass beef and I'm obsessed. The smoke from the grill with the acid of the fish sauce, lime, chilies, and fried shallots is unreal. Every dish I've tried has been mouthwatering. My friend and I only ordered two savory items and two desserts as we were not so hungry and only really needed a place to hang out at The Point--but every item we tasted was smack-dab delectable. The Crispy Shrimp and Pork Eggroll, Sweet and Spicy Chicken Wings, Warm Pecan Tart and Chocolate Cake each has a special authentic taste that would leave you craving for more. I have been a fan of Little Sister for years since it opened in Manhattan Beach, I've been to the DTLA location too. I'm so happy that this location is closer to my house. I had the most wonderful server! As a starter, I ordered the papaya salad and the chicken and shiitake dumplings. Heads up, they were able to accommodate my dietary restrictions. After almost filling up with the salad and dumplings, I ordered the sea bass to keep it light. It was delicious. To complete the experience, and after going in a food bonanza. Little Sister has long been one of my favorite places to savor a satisfying meal. I've come here for special occasions a few times and now I have been here twice for dineLA. Their dineLA offering is on the high end but definitely well worth the value. This summer's Little Sister dineLA consisted of a four course meal. The first course consisted of their Papaya Salad and their Goi Cuon. The Papaya Salad is always a refreshing and good starter. This light salad has green papaya, fresh herbs, beef jerky, candied shrimp, chilis, roasted peanuts all tossed in a chili lime vinaigrette. The Goi Cuon is a fresh spring roll with shrimp, pork, viet herbs accompanied with a coconut peanut sauce. The spring roll is tasty and delightful. The second course for dineLA is their Housemade Dumplings. I had high expectations for these chicken and shiitake dumplings but I did find them a bit on the salty side. The chili vinegar dipping sauce did help offset the saltiness somewhat. For the third course, I chose to get The Shorty. This is a char siu short rib that was placed on top of scallion fondue with mushrooms, pickled leaks and lotus root. I loved how tender the short rib was. The flavors were on point for this dish. My friend got their Coco Pork entree. I tried a little bit of this and it enough reminded me of Filipino adobo. There was a good hint of soy and it interestingly came with quail egg. It was an ok dish but not one I would get next time. Last but not least, we had Cafe sua da pot au crème for dessert. This dessert had a really good hint of coffee. It had that caffeine kick for sure! The summer dineLA menu was a good way to try more dishes at one of my favorite spots! DineLA brought me here on a Monday night. Even made a reservation. Here's how it went ... If you've been to The Point - then you know how parking is. It's free, all around the center, but if/when it's busy, you'll have to walk unless you want to do laps waiting for a spot to open up. Me, I parked away from the building and walked. The restaurant has like an open concept. You can even sit outdoors. I chose indoors. When the marine layer rolls in, it can get chilly. Or if the kids are playing out on the lawn ... you can figure out what I'm not saying. There's also a bar with bar height tables where you can enjoy the happy hour. I did. That on top of the DineLA menu. Service was excellent. Yesenia was on it. Behind the bar and tending to tables in the bar area, and outside. Refills, clearing plates and even bringing condiments too. Then there's the food. There was dishes I enjoyed and some I felt were ok. When say ok, I don't mean bad or that I didn't like it - it just didn't wow my palate. Know that if I don't like something, I won't finish it, nor take it to go. And though there were a few dishes that didn't hit the spot, I still cleared every dish. As for the dishes I'm referring to - it just felt like the "fusion" concept didn't align with my taste buds. The dishes had flavor with the ingredients and spices - it just felt like too much. Everyone has different tastes so you'll have to just try to see what you like or don't. Drinks were great. I did order the XO and the drink was balanced and I would have ordered a second, but I was being a responsible adult driver. Now, the question - would I come back. Nice ambiance, but that's about it. Food was mediocre and bland. Service was worse. As a Latino party of 4, we were treated noticeably differently than the two Caucasian women seated next to us. Our server was friendly, attentive, and checked on them often, while we were ignored, given attitude, and had to flag her down just to order. We ended up getting drinks and appetizers only and left to go somewhere we actually felt welcomed. Didn't catch the server's name she never introduced herself, and I was too upset to check the receipt. The host, however, was much nicer. We even told her wish you were our server on the way out! She said of no was there a problem.... We didn't want to make a big deal and walked away while my father in law did tell her that server had a stick up her you know what... she quickly said yes I know, I'm so Sorry! Came here for a belated birthday celebration. We had eaten once at the downtown location and loved it, but it was so hard to get to and then there was no outdoor seating. This location is fantastic! They have a lovely outdoor patio and the indoors is largely well ventilated as well with a huge open window. The outdoor mall is a lovely peaceful setting. Service was friendly and attentive. The food was as fantastic as we remembered. Our server recommended that we order 3 dishes to share for 2 people. It ended up being too much for us, but everything was delicious. We got the nem nuong (grilled pork spring roll), which was reminiscent of the famous version from Brodard. This version was a little elevated, and I loved the dipping sauce, which had a bit of a kick to it. Next was the Saigon salad, which was also delicious. The chicken was perfectly cooked and made the dish more special than other versions that we've had from other restaurants. But my favorite was the banh xeo, which was the real reason I wanted to come. Not many Vietnamese restaurants on the Westside offer this dish, and it's one of my favorites. Love the contrast of the egg with the shrimp, the crunchy bean sprouts, and all the goodies that come on the side. It's so good. The mocktails were not my fave. The strawberry lychee cooler had great flavor but was too sweet for my taste (my daughter probably would have loved it). The ginger lemongrass drink was a bit too sour for me. I felt like both drinks would have been better if they were carbonated (but I love fizzy drinks). Would probably skip next time and save my calories for the food. read more

Located in the revitalized El Segundo mall, the restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. The decorations are very nice and they have some large booths which were comfortable. The server was attentive and explained a few things on the menu for us. There were 3 of us so we did family style. The housemade dumplings were amazing. Wasn't expecting it to be so soupy (I guess it was more like wontons than dumplings) but they were such a great flavor bomb. The server recommended spring rolls as well which I didn't like as much but good to try. We also shared a salt and pepper crab which looked like a paella to me. This place felt very fusiony. The portion was huge and great for sharing. Lots of seafood as well. I also loved the coconut chicken curry. The chicken was tender and the curry wasn't too coconutty. The dish directly in front of me is my salmon ENTREE ($28). It was a very small piece of salmon & at one point I was just eating cilantro with sauce. My hubby got 3 TINY pieces of seabass ($34). Flavor-wise everything was great. The salmon crudo wasn't bad & my hubby really enjoyed the milk bread. Service was fine & front of house was super friendly & accommodating. Amazing experience here! Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. He walked through the entire menu and what was gluten free and what could be modified to make other dishes gluten friendly. He even knew the ingredients in each dish. I highly recommend the crispy prawns (made with corn starch) and the Saigon salad (the chicken has a gluten marinade used on it-sub beef, shrimp or tofu to avoid this) The chicken curry was also delicious and I normally don't go for curry. They have both indoor seating and a patio with heaters. I can't wait to come back. Pro tip: the local Costco sells gift cards for a 20% savings! went here for lunch after top golf because a friend was in town! as a vegan, i found the vegan options disappointing. we ordered the spring rolls and made it vegan, only to find out that they just took out the meat (instead of subbing with tofu). so essentially we just ate veggies wrapped in rice paper with peanut sauce. i ordered the strawberry lychee drink, and it was very strawberry forward. my tofu bowl with black rice that i ordered was actually very delicious (they seemed to have some special sauce in the black rice that was really tasty). there was a side papaya salad which was made vegan, but based on what my friends deduced, it was like the regular papaya salad but fish sauce omitted. also, it wasn't the tastiest. i think in the future, esp considering the price, i will just be ordering the tofu bowl entree. besides that, my friends got the papaya salad, bánh xèo, and pork chops. overall, the presentation of the dishes was very nice - lots of vibrant colors - and the interior design was very alluring - fancy seating, overall luxurious warm vibe going on, very LA. service was nice and friendly. personally, this was a nice place to go once, but i would prefer going to another hometown vietnamese place for more tasty food read more
