    Mango Sticky Rice ... 7/10
    Ariana S.

First time coming here.. I was craving Thai food and wanted to try a new place, it was definitely better than I expected! We were looking forward to the fire wings but they were very dry. 7/10 The Manhattan beach noodles were okay, it came with only two pieces of shrimp, I would have expected a little more. 7/10 The paw see ew had a very good taste, I really liked it. The quantities were okay for the price I guess? I loved the fact that the veggies tasted VERY fresh and they were crunchy too. The mango sticky rice was okay, didn't taste too fresh... I wouldn't get it from here again The service was great! The lady in the front was very kind and welcoming. Came in on a Wednesday night and the place was kind of empty. Looks a little small but perfect for a nice drink and meal! Will be back to try other dishes!

I was walking in LA looking for someplace to eat. As it was getting dark I was pleased to find Garden Thai. A clean, bright welcoming place with great service. The food was pretty good too. I enjoyed my Pad see ew. A bit pricey at $17 but what isn't these days?

Soooo good! After living in Hermosa for 8 years, I've tried most of the Thai restaurants in the area many times over. The one thing I have been unable to find is a place to get good glass noodles (Pad Woon Sen)... until today. The unassuming facade makes this place easy to overlook, but wowza! Not only did I finally get the glass noodles I've been searching for, but their yellow curry and egg rolls were sooo good! My husband and I had placed our order for take-out, but we sat and enjoyed a Thai beer while waiting for our order. The service was so efficient that the food was ready before I had finished my last sip! This place is officially my new Thai spot!

It's walking distance to the beach so it's a really picturesque area during dinner when the sun is setting. The staff were nice and patient. The panang curry was delicious and balanced. The consistency wasn't too thick. The skewers came with a nice pickled cucumber side and a peanut sauce. The kids enjoyed it. There were a lot of dessert and vegetarian options. The interior is quaint and good for smaller groups. The bad: The greens in the pad see ew were very bitter and the flavor was salty. I felt like it didn't have great wok flavor. There's no outdoor seating. The interesting: I paid for metered parking right in front of the restaurant but there's also a parking garage across the street. There are toy cars in the cabinet. I'm not sure if they're meant for display or for kid guests to play with.

When I suggested one of our usual dinner spots, my wife said, "Hey, let's go to that Thai place you've been wanting to try." Well, reporting back. It's outstanding. From the dramatic Polynesian-inspired roofline and colorful glass panels that give the space an almost church-like feel to the warm, inviting interior, the place has a ton of character. But the real star is the food. Every dish was incredibly flavorful, perfectly prepared, and not the least bit greasy. Honestly, just delicious. The portions are generous too. We ordered three dishes and still came home with leftovers. The highlight of the evening was meeting Ben, whose parents opened the restaurant many years ago. His dad still comes in every morning to make the curry bases from scratch. That kind of family pride and dedication really shows in the food. What a delightful place. Five stars for the food, the atmosphere, and the service. We'll definitely be back. 5 stars!

There's something different about the flavor profile here that just hits. I got a salad. Forgot which one, but it had lots of colorful tasty veggies. The dressing was beautifully balanced with a light, sweet vinegar. Nice large portion! A cup of Tom Kha paired nicely, and value for money is exceptional with this dish as well. This past weekend was their 22 year anniversary celebration. Fried Chicken night, here we come!! Sadly, we were too late, and they'd run out. (Insert crying emoji, but we'll get earlier reservations next year) Instead, we (over) ordered our favorites so we'd have plenty of leftovers. We've never had an issue with the delivery, hot, tasty, plentiful. But this, THIS, was next level. Even hotter, more flavor, larger portions!! Perfectly cooked shrimp with Pad See Ew, fried tofu in the green curry, the fan fave when tigers cry Tri-tip, plus much more. We were blown away. Everyone was super friendly, it felt like we were in a friend's house with family. And for what was a very busy night, service was spot on, and really fast. Added bonus: for the celebration, there was a "Photo Booth" where we got a caricature drawn of us, and then, we got to spin a prize wheel. We won a small box of house made Mango Sticky Rice Macrons. Ooooh, boy were they delicious!! ATTENTION AYARA, put these on the menu for regular ordering. It will make the whole world a better place. If you've made it this far, go to Ayara, the hospitality, service, and delicious food are absolutely worth it.

We arrived during lunch hours and discovered they offer lunch specials, which were surprisingly affordable. I have to admit, I'm usually skeptical of very inexpensive lunch specials because, as we say where I'm from, "sometimes cheap ends up being expensive." In other words, I worry that lower prices might mean lower quality. That was absolutely not the case here. The biggest surprise of the meal was the dan dan noodles. Wow. They were absolutely delicious--easily one of the highlights of the meal. Honestly, everything we ordered was very good. The service from our server, Carlos, was great, and another server who was blond and spoke Spanish was even more attentive. Both were very friendly and helpful. We were so hungry when we arrived that we completely missed the "Wait to be Seated" sign and almost walked halfway through the restaurant before realizing our mistake--our apologies for that! The restaurant itself feels cozy and welcoming. I visit this shopping area quite often, and I'm really glad I discovered Northern Cafe because I will definitely be coming back from time to time. If you're looking for a delicious and affordable lunch, I highly recommend trying their lunch specials. The quality of the food far exceeded my expectations, and I don't think you'll regret giving this place a try.
