Thai Elephants II is one of our go-to spots and the food is consistently good every time we order. I've tried a lot of items from their menu over time, but the Tom Kha Soup is honestly one of my favorites. The flavor is amazing -- rich, comforting, and perfectly balanced. I personally don't like spicy food, so I always order spice level 0 and it's still packed with flavor. This time we also ordered Pad Thai noodles and chicken satay, which were both really good as well. The restaurant itself is always very clean, and the indoor seating area is surprisingly spacious and nice. We've never had an issue getting a table. Service has also always been friendly and consistent whether dining in or ordering takeout. Definitely one of the better Thai spots in the area if you like flavorful food without everything needing to be super spicy. read more

This place is super cute and comfortable! I remember years ago it used to be kind of stuffy but they have remodeled and redecorated. There are booths and tables available. We were seated immediately and given menus. My mother in law and sister in law have been here quite a bit but I hadn't in some time. I reviewed the menu but didn't really research before coming in which I wish I had of so I could try something new. Next time for sure! The chicken pad thai was amazing. She asked how spicy and i said 3 like my sister in law and I think the 3 was on a scale of 5 instead of 10 LOL very spicy but so good. Jay was an incredible waitress and the food was absolutely amazing. Thought it was weird that there were 2 Thai restaurants next to each other (shame on you Mai Thai), but were very happy to have chosen Thai Elephant. Highly recommend! I know times are tough and it is reflected in the restaurant business. The food was marginal compared to other local Thai restaurants. The Thai flavorings and spices were lacking. I ordered cashew chicken and just a few cashews mostly green peppers and large circular pieces of carrots with the chicken. Spouse ordered a Spicy beef thinking it would have some typical veggies in that. It was just the beef in pieces of raw cabbage. He ordered sticky rice and it came wrapped in Saran Wrap like a 2"x3" square and was hard to bite into. His meal was not enjoyable. We won't go back. We took my stepdad with us for Father's Day, and we made reservations for five. We got seated within about 10 minutes. Upon sitting, the service is real expedient and courteous. Part of the red curry, but they actually brought out the spicy Masserman. And I didn't realize I started till I started eating it that it was the wrong dish, and they immediately corrected it and brought out the red curry within five minutes. It was more of a thick tie. I ordered Chicken Pad Thai, Crab Rangoon and Thai ice tea. The Thai ice tea I order with no ice so they poured 2/3 of a cup. Really your that cheap and can't fill up the cup? Crab Rangoon - 6 pieces for $10 which are extremely small and the only thing in them was cream cheese and no crab at alll and not worth it for the price. Chicken Pad Thai was extremely small for $20 They forgot allot of the ingredients. No peanuts No Scallions No Eggs A few bean sprouts No lime No cilantro Used the wrong noodles and were overcooked 1oz of slivered chicken overcooked and dry No tamarind in the dish looks like they used ketchup instead Sweet n Sour sauce too cheap to fill up a 2oz container just puts in half of the sauce? This places is completely empty on a Saturday night at 6:00 pm. That explains it completely and I would go some other place to eat. I have tried several places in Summerville and the only place that has great food and packed was Fish Camp and I gave them 5 stars. I did a take away online order. I ordered Thai basil fried rice (one of my favs!) and asked for no green peppers bc they don't agree with me. I also asked for extra mushrooms and onions but I don't think they added it. I also ordered Tom Kha soup and it was really delicious. My only complaint for this meal was how loose they rolled my fresh spring rolls. Made them almost impossible to dip without losing all lot of filling. Taste was great! Portions are HUGE! Oh and where this is technically on me, I didn't think to ask for cutlery so when I got back to my hotel I had to go round some up. Usually they ask with take away so if you need it, ask! I'll be eating on my $50 dinner for DAYS! And that took some of the sting out of shelling out $50 for one dinner for one person. read more

I came here with my dad a couple weeks ago. The food was absolutely delicious, with large portions and not too pricy. However, there was only one woman working so the service was very slow. The restaurant was fairly busy as it was a Saturday night, but it took over 45 minutes for our food to arrive, and my meal came out about 20 minutes after my dad's food arrived. It took another 20 minutes of waiting after we finished to figure out if the server would bring us the check or if we had to walk up to pay. The food was so good that I'll be back, and the server was friendly despite service being slow so ultimately I'll give it 4 stars, but I know next time to plan 2 hours for dinner read more

I have been here about 10 times in the last year. Food and service is outstanding. Generally I order an appetizer and either soup or an entree. Tom khai soup is flavorful and stocked with extras. Usually I go with any of the curry dishes but sometimes go with the other entrees like ginger or prik king. It almost never gets crowded which I'm thankful for. read more

They offer some things like Kuay Tiew (duck noodle soup) or Thai sausages that a lot of Thai places don't offer because they are usually only geared towards American taste. If you ask to make it Thai hot or Thai style they definitely will do it! But they make most things pretty close to authentic. Literally my favorite Thai place in Charleston so far. My neighbor suggested this place and we were excited to visit a new restaurant which may meet the high expectations that we bring with a benchmark of a very basic restaurant in NC with excellent flavors. I must say that I wasn't expecting the check to be that high considering it was a take out, 35 for lunch for two would have been ok if the portions would have been a little bigger, after I was done with the drunken noodles I was still hungry and flavor was not quite the one I die for, just ok. Probably the best Thai in the area! They do take a while past the estimated ready time but it is worth the wait. We have had the pad Thai, crab wontons, chicken satay, and curry. All were very good with the exception of the satay which was a tad undercooked. This is definitely our go to Thai takeout in the area. read more

Let me first start off by saying my 4 instead of 5 was not based off of service or taste. For both, this place was a 5. But the atmosphere and cost brought the rating down and here's why. We ordered the pad Thai was duck (6 dollar up charge for all duck on the menu making everything with duck exactly 18.49) We also ordered drunken noodle with beef (2 dollar up charge for beef) Up charge cost for beef is a little odd for Thai restaurants because it usually doesn't cost more. And the up charge for the duck was a little much. I would think maybe 3-4 dollars up charge for duck. (I work in the restaurant industry) We wanted to order appetizers but the cost was almost the amount for a main dish for the appetizers. 7.95 for 4 springs rolls is a little pricey and so is other appetizers they had. It backed us away a little even though I know they would taste good, wasn't expecting a 60 dollar lunch. The atmosphere is a little plain. I think definitely a cleaner look than Ti-Ney, but it doesn't compare to its location in james Island. The James Island location is fancier and nicer and the atmosphere and their tables can add cost value where is this place is a little basic. Overall good food. Friendly staff, but the cost to atmosphere aren't equal and I don't think they'll get the same customer base in Summerville as they would in James Island/Folly Beach area. read more

Stopped here on a whim, and I'm so glad I did! The restaurant wasn't busy, so I was basically alone and I'm not sure how they seat regarding Covid precautions. The server was super friendly and attentive, and she made great recommendations. I had the Curry Puff Appetizer and the Ba Mee Moo Dang. Everything was super delicious, and I thought that the serving sizes were adequate. The curry puffs were flaky and flavorful. The soup was also very good. I ordered $70 worth of food to go and it was ALL delicious! We were able to get a few meals with leftovers too. My favorite hands down were the glass noodles. The red curry with chicken and the shrimp fried Thai Elephant rice also very good. So far this is my favorite Thai since moving to Summerville. I will be back SOON! read more
