What a wonderful dining experience! First of all, we popped in at 11:15am on a Sunday morning. They welcomed us in even though they didn't open until noon. The service was so refreshingly genuine and great. I felt for a minute I was at home. The ingredients were so fresh and so much flavor. Tom yum had the perfect spice and sour flavor. Pad see ew was so tasty and the Papaya salad was ordered as a meal and it was enough as a main lunch entree. Finished the meal with mango sticky rice. Yum! Best Thai food in columbus, hands down. It's family owned and operated, and it feels that way in the best possible way. You can expect the highest quality meal that is consistent every time you go (I've been eating here since 2009). It's not fast food, it's a small sit down restaurant that obliges us by also doing takeout if you're feeling like having a fancy meal in. Thai Grille remains one of my top three columbus area restaurant's, and something I crave on a routine basis. Excellent little family business serving excellent Thai food. A little hard to find, but when you do, you will not regret it! I like spicy, and their spicy does not disappoint. The veggies are colorful and plentiful and cooked perfectly. The shrimp in the Pad Thai is also cooked to perfection. The service is fine for what it is: a small family business. The last time I was there our server was also the chef. She apologized profusely that our meals would come out at different times (we were a party of six) because they were understaffed at the moment. I ordered fried rice with tofu and extra vegetables. My daughter ordered a shrimp dish. My dish was a bit burnt and was bland. My daughter liked her dish, I think it was Grilled Shrimp, but there was so little food that I had to share my food with her. The only vegetables in the shrimp dish were mushrooms (maybe some onions). I had tea and my daughter had a soda $7.50 for both). The bill came to $49.99 without tip. Service was slow but that is understood due to only one cook and one server (posted as you walk in the restaurant). The place is cute and in Uptown Westerville. The location probably contributes to the food cost. I am rating three stars due to the bland burnt dish, small portions, and high price. read more

I have been trying to find the best Thai restaurant in Columbus for some time. After a long search of finding restaurants that i thought were great, I stumbled upon Thai Grille and it redefined what i had previously thought of as good Thai in Columbus. Entering the restaurant, it is a small space that is very well decorated. The hostess also serves as your waitress, and I think she is the sweetest woman I have ever met. She immediately made us feel very welcomed and almost like we were returning family to the restaurant. I think she truly made the experience great! We got the Summer Rolls and Shrimp Rolls (we originally wanted the Thai wings and the Golden Calamari, but they were out) which were great, light starting appetizers. For entrees, we got the pad Thai and the salmon curry. Both entrees were AMAZING, but the pad Thai really stood out; it was probably the best pad Thai I have ever had. All prices are very reasonable, and portion sizes are realistic (not way too large like some places) The service was superb (great timing), the food was phenomenal, the experience was worth every penny. If you are looking for good Thai food in Columbus, this is your place! I strayed from my normal go-to, as this was recommended and it did not disappoint. It's a small, quaint place inside and seems to get crowded pretty quickly. The staff was super welcoming and the service was great. Now onto the food--we shared pad see ew and green curry. They were both delicious! The pad see ew had so many fresh veggies in it, as well as the protein we ordered. I typically order pad see ew whenever I'm at a Thai restaurant and the veggies are often scarce, so this was a nice surprise. The curry was also really tasty and a good consistency. I am surprised by some of the negative reviews of this restaurant. I do agree that the table seating is limited and tight, and the prices are a bit high for the portion size. The food itself was amazing. The best Thai food I have had in Columbus by far. A warning that the "hot" level is atomic here, so you should know that going in and order accordingly for sensitive taste buds. I had the beef curry (forgot to take a picture) and it was in a flavorful Massaman curry broth with lots of fresh veggies. My partner had pad see ew, which I normally do not like, and it was so good. The only bummer was that they were out of the curry puffs appetizer that we wanted to try. Definitely worth a repeat visit. read more

Solid thai food. Owned by a couple who is white and thai (wife) so there is authenticity. Quality is good and the decor is nice. Price is pretty high. Lunch for two can easily be $50 so definitely priced for the upper middle class audience or an occasional night out for a lower class couple. Orders don't come out fast so it's actually a place to chat and chill verses a pace you go when you're super hungry and want food quickly. Portions are decent - not generous but also doesn't leaving you hungry. Just right. For the price the I'd be happier if I could take a small plate home for that inevitable late night hunger strike. Thai Grille is a staple of Uptown Westerville. There is an old lady who served us and she is the best; super funny and attentive, like your favorite grandparent. They are very proud of the fact that they make everything to order (they even have a sign on their door) and it shows in their food quality. It's worth waiting a bit longer for their amazing rice and noodle dishes. Most things on the menu can be made vegetarian, the service is insanely friendly, and the interior is cute. I used to go to Thai Grille often when I worked in the Westerville area. The food was wonderful and the prices were reasonable, although the service was always slow. I was shopping in uptown Westerville today and stopped at Thai Grille for a late lunch. The prices were so high that I decided to just get Tom Ka Gai soup and Fried Spring Rolls. The soup had excellent flavor but very little chicken and veggies. It was mostly just broth. The spring rolls were tiny and burned. I would have preferred to order a stir fry or noodle dish but they cost an average of $19 which is too much for me to spend on lunch. read more

I visited Thai Grill last Saturday with my family since we wanted to try something new. It's located in uptown Westerville off of East College Avenue. There is parking in the back of the restaurant or on the sides of the streets. Since this is a rather small restaurant seating can be rather tight. We had a group of 7 people with my family and they add a 25% gratuity fee when it's a party of 6 or more people here. My family browsed through the menu. The kids ordered the summer rolls and spring rolls off their appetizer menu. They shared the summer rolls with me and they were rather good. The dipping sauce it comes with doesn't make the flavor seem bland. Then we all ordered our main dish my mom and dad got the vegetable dishes and my sister in law and I got the pad thai. It was okay, I just didn't prefer the way it was made compared to other restaurants I've had it at. It had shrimp and the thai cooked noodles with peanuts on top. The kids and I also got the Thai iced tea and we thought that was great. The kids were even fighting not to take each others!! So if you ever come here, try the Thai iced tea, you may have to fight your guest to have it for yourself! read more

My daughter and I stopped in while in town. She was craving Pad Thai, and I can always find something I enjoy at any Thai restaurant. When we walked in, we were bombarded by a pungent, very unpleasant smell. It smelled like cat urine, but I'm sure they don't allow cats in their restaurant, so I don't know what it was. We were seated up front next to a display of live plants, and I kept leaning over smelling them, trying to see if that was where the disagreeable smell was coming from, but it didn't smell any stronger there than elsewhere. I wish we'd just left, but the interior was small and looked nice, so we ordered. It took a long time for our food to arrive, even though it wasn't busy. My daughter didn't even eat 1/3 of her pad Thai, stating it wasn't good. I've never had bad pad Thai, and when I tasted it, it lacked flavor, even after adding a considerable amount of salt, and the noodles weren't cooked properly. My beef salad, on the other hand, had a WONDERFUL flavor. There were so many nuances to the flavor that it really was a delight at first. Until I got to the meat. 80% of the beef was inedible. It was gristly, and so tough I absolutely could not chew it up after several minutes. This occurred bite after bite. I ended up with a small plateful of chewed up meat on my plate at the end. I ate everything else because the flavor was great. Sadly, nobody asked us how our food was, or maybe my daughter could have eaten and I could have had the beef replaced with less gristly pieces so I could eat them. We sat waiting for the bill, and when it finally arrived, I left a note on the receipt saying that nobody had ever checked to see how our food was and that they needed to improve their service and the quality of their food. What a disappointing experience overall. I do hope yours is far better. read more

This place is too expensive. The quantity of food to the price is too less. The food wasn't sufficient to any of my friend's plus it doesn't taste that great. We order shrimp curry and they only served us two shrimp pieces and the entire curry had veggies they charged us $18 for it. Total ripe off. Highly disappointed and never coming back to this place. The menu is small but I watched as a small team in the kitchen cooked each order fresh, so i figure small isn't negative in this case. The food was awesome! Fresh, hot, simple, flavorful, perfect!
