So admittedly this is the first time I've gotten deep tissue / Thai style massage, since I'm a wuss and normally go for Swedish with the lightest touch possible (so I can nap). At the advice of my doctor (I am in denial about having any stress and as a result I seem to have a lot of pain and stiffness), I booked a massage here since I live in the area. I booked myself for a Swedish massage with Kris on 1/18/21- it was okay. This was my very first experience getting a professional massage and I was extremely taken by surprise when I was laying on the bed and the masseuse started to walk on my back. I asked for light pressure in the beginning because I am super sensitive and have a lot of lower back pains. It was painful and I had to ask for lighter pressure the entire time. There was no consultation prior to the appointment asking what areas needed to be targeted etc. (I originally booked this appointment because I was having shoulder pain/discomfort and wanted that area worked on). Majority of the appointment was her walking on my back and I was not expecting that. I don't think I'll ever book for a Swedish massage again. I was hoping for the lighter-medium pressure with just the masseuse's hands. I have been a client of Ratana's since 2012. I have followed her from Massage Envy to her location at Baroque and now to her new spa on Hualapai off of the 215. It is great to see how far she's come. Even though the drive is a little further for me, it is worth it. She is the only person that can work out the knots in my shoulders/upper back without leaving me feeling bruised. My husband booked a couples massage. He is a tall guy with major back and shoulder issues. I am a small woman and rarely get massages. My husband had a woman named Oeh and I had August. We got completely different massages and we were equally pleased. I didn't think I was that bad but I heard a loud crack from my body maybe 5 minutes into the massage. We were both stretched and worked over for an hour. I had only experienced a swedish massage before this so I was unsure what I thought of the experience. When I got up from the table I felt AMAZING. It's not relaxing like a swedish massage but the results are so much better. I swear I am taller now. I have full range of motion in my neck, just incredible.
