Thai Lotus restaurant is a very quiet place. Every time I eat here, it is only my brother, my mother and I, in the whole restaurant. Sometimes there is a couple sitting across the restaurant and 1 other person sitting alone on the opposite side of the door, I have never seen the restaurant full. So, if you like eating at a quiet place, this is it, because there isn't a lot of noise or kids yelling and running around. There are big windows where you can see the outside on a rainy or cloudy day afternoon having lunch with family. This location used to be an I-Hop and the buyer, now owner kept all of the tables, chairs, carpet and curtains only adding a little of decorations from Thailand at the entrance not having much presence of a Thai restaurant compared to others. There is so much that can be done to make it more authentic.
Despite the poorly decorated setting, customer service is great. Every time my family and go, the same lady is always there with a smile. She is attentive and checks on us often, making sure we are doing fine or if we need something else. One thing that I appreciate while in a restaurant is when the waitress makes sure my drink is full and this staff always makes sure there is water in my cup. We never have to call her to ask for something, she is always present. During one of our visits, the Red Curry dish my mother had ordered was very spicy and since my mother suffers from gastritis, she asked if they could make another one. The waitress without hesitating apologized and took the plate back to the cook making it a priority. Less than 10 minutes later, they brought back another plate and this time they made it the right way. The staff always makes my family and I feel confortable as if we are at home.
Now, the food, the food is delicious, not only it taste good but they prices are convenient and adequate for each dish. I often eat here because the Panang Curry they make is just exquisite. It is served in a fish shaped green bowl with white rice on the side for only $10.95. I always ask for vegies included, it is only a $1 more to add steam vegies. The cook always put enough vegies unlike other restaurants that only put in a very small portion. The cook adds a good combination of spices, coconut milk and peanuts that the ingredients are not strong on the taste buds at all. I like that they ask you how spicy from 1 to 10 I want it and 4 out of 5 times they are always accurate on the amount. They also serve 8 pieces of Crab Rangoons in a squared plate with sweet and sour sauce and sliced carrots and lettuce on the side for $6.95. They taste creamy, cheesy with a good amount of crab in a crunchy wonton skin wrapped. To top it off, the Thai Tea they serve is delightful; they serve it in a long curvy cup with cream that gives it a silky coconut flavor. Over all, I give them 4 stars out of 5 just because the setting is not that great but I love the food. The food is what matters to me the most. I definitely recommend this Thai food restaurant to everyone. [579 wds.] read more
