Stopped by this place last weekend for brunch and really enjoyed our meal. The food was great and the staff were so nice. We started our meal out with the deconstructed deviled eggs which was delicious. It's basically a fancy egg salad with saltines baked with everything bagel seasoning on them. For entrees I got the chicken fried steak and my gf got the crab and grapefruit salad. My daughter had the eggs and bacon off the kids meal. We all really liked our food. Our server overheard that we were celebrating my daughter's birthday and sent out a desert with a candle on it. It was actually the only time we had on our trip to phx to have her blow out a candle while we sang her happy birthday so we were really appreciative of them doing that. First to arrive and met with the hostess. We had our choice of seating and ultimately sat at a booth. Server came by and took our drink order and delivered within 7 minutes. She then left and didn't take our food order for another 20 min. We were waiting for her return. Finally she took our order but because of the wait, we had finished our beverages. She didn't refill our beverage for another 10 minutes. Food came out about 15 minutes after ordering. Had the chicken pesto sandwich and the grouper sandwich. Both tasted really good but grouper sandwich bread was really dry. The bun didn't look like it was lightly toasted. Fish was fried in panko with herbs and was just ok. Chicken pesto had the jicama slaw which was delicious but the sandwich bread was also a little dry. Refills took a long time to get brought tot the table. We sat outside under the heat lamps on a brisk February evening, and it was absolutely perfect. We started with the hatch chile cornbread and the duo chip-and-dip platter -- both were excellent. For our entrées, the table ordered the ribeye special, Asian salad, chili, and French dip, with sides of fries and onion rings. Everything was fantastic. To finish the night, we shared the dark chocolate brownie topped with ice cream, caramel, and toffee bits, along with the coconut pie -- rich, gooey, and delicious. We were seated just inside next to the door. The cold air was flowing inside making the inside seating very cold. I came to The Neighborly today with two of my close girlfriends for a relaxed meal and cocktails. The vibe was cute and laid-back, and both the hostess and our bartender/server were truly wonderful. We ordered two skillets, Southern grits with andouille sausage & cheese, and the bread basket. Unfortunately, all of the entrées arrived lukewarm, which took the excitement out of the meal. No fault of our server at all, the food just didn't wow us the way we expected. That said, the bread basket stole the show. The jalapeño cornbread and biscuits were OUTSTANDING, and honestly, I wish I'd ordered the biscuits and gravy instead because I can only imagine how good that would be if served hot. Drink-wise: my slightly dirty martini was fantastic, one friend had a mint mocktail that was just okay, and the other kept it simple with orange juice. We were seated toward the back near the kitchen, which felt a little dull considering there were other great booths available, but we didn't make a fuss. The interior bar is very pretty, and the front booths looked especially inviting... definitely where I'd sit next time. Would I come back? Maybe for cocktails, that bread basket, and good company. This is four stars because of one major caveat -- I ordered the blackened salmon that originally came with asparagus and sesame orzo. I asked to sub the goat cheese mashed potatoes in place of the orzo to make the dish gluten free and that was easily done. When I got my food... it was only the salmon and the mashed potatoes. I asked where the asparagus was and the server said asparagus was only with the orzo but I could add it as a side... for $8. So I had a protein and carb but no vegetable for a whopping $36. It would've been nice to be told I wouldn't be getting a vegetable but even better to still include a few strips of asparagus. All that said, the dish was very tasty. The salmon fell apart easily and was so tender and juicy yet had a little crunch from the blackened top. The mashed potatoes were tangy and savory and cheesy and very good! My boyfriend got the majesty baby back ribs and subbed in the mashed potatoes and that originally only came with a slaw so we weren't expecting a veggie still. He had a huge portion of ribs and his was $2 less than mine still! He loved his meal, super tender and messy in the best way. My buddy and I have hit many brunch spots here in the Valley over the years. It was my turn to pick and The Neighborly came up as a place that was halfway between both our houses. This restaurant didn't disappoint. The Neighborly is a Common Ground Culinary restaurant (The Macintosh, Sweet Provisions, etc) and is located on 7th St in North Phoenix. It is close to several other great dining establishments in the Phoenix area. I love the mural on the outside of the building that greets you as you walk up. The dining room is comfortable and spacious. We came on a day that wasn't too busy and were sat right away. The staff was very welcoming and the service was great. My buddy and I usually have great discussions on life and the food and ambiance provided a nice setting for some good convo. No brunch can go without drinks and I started off with a Wake Up Call cocktail (their version of an espresso martini). The Brunch Bread Basket and Deviled Eggs were a great way to start off our dining experience here at The Neighborly. I am a big deviled egg fan and really enjoyed their version of them. The bread basket comes with cast iron cornbread and biscuits. I have really grown to appreciate grits and had the Southern Jalapeño & Cheddar Grits with Andouille Sausage as my main course. The outdoor area sadly isn't dog friendly. And worse, the hubby had the French dip and was sick for days with what seemed like food poisoning. He said the bread was very stale. Sunday happy hour with the college boys. Made a reservation, were seated immediately in a tight booth with my husband and giant 20 year olds. Server is very sweet but her voice is so faint it's difficult to hear her list the specials in this noisy popular restaurant. We ordered a couple of appetizers to start while we pondered the menu. Right away I ordered the smoked salmon dip, which although served with tortilla chips I also brought my own rice crackers. This is a salty savory dip and a large portion, but I ate it all by myself! The table shared an order of prime rib sliders, and deviled eggs. The sliders were a favorite, the eggs were not! Boys! Number one son ordered the BBQ salmon, which came with a sesame orzo side and grilled asparagus. He did not care for this cold side dish that included tomatoes and cucumbers and gave the asparagus to his brother. The salmon was great, but he didn't get full and server never even asked why he hadn't touched his side dish. Husband helped supplement his meal with some of his half chicken which was a lovely roasted bird served on a pile of mashed potatoes. Other son ordered the butcher's cut which was a New York strip, with a loaded baked potato. He said it was a good steak but not very special, and he was dissatisfied with the value of this entree. For my meal I ordered the happy hour short rib nachos. This would seem to be a great value, but it came out completely cold from the Pico de gallo dumped on top. All of the cheese sauce and the short rib was piled on top of the chips, so there was nothing on the chips below the top layer. I think this is a cute dish that just needs a little fine tuning. Met some friends for lunch at The Neighborly. We were promptly seated, even though we were missing two companions. The restaurant was open and airy with a large patio in front. Our waitress, Maria, was delightful. She was efficient and attentive without being intrusive. We each had a different meal and all were pronounced delicious from the grouper sandwich to the hamburger and the jicama coleslaw. One of our party has severe allergies to nuts and seafood. We stopped in for a quick drink after dinner and were bummed to see they closed at 10 on a Saturday, so we knew it'd be one and done. I ordered an espresso martini, and my husband got a Stella. Unfortunately, we were both disappointed. They didn't have Chopin, my vodka of choice, so I went with Belvedere. The drink came out looking as flat as it tasted, light in color and totally lacking that rich espresso flavor I was hoping for and it needs. It was also very weak in alcohol. As for the Stella, it was served in a can, which completely threw my husband off. He's never been served a canned Stella at a restaurant, and it definitely changed the taste for the worse. read more

Misters weren't on at first, but once they got going, the patio went from a meh 6.5 to a chill 9. Ask and you shall receive. Drinks: Salty D.O.G.G. - Super tart, super refreshing. The salty rim was a little too enthusiastic, though. I'd order it again, just naked. 6/10. It's a Dry Heat - Margarita-adjacent. Pineapple flavor is shy but sweet, Tajín rim pulls it together. No heat, despite the name. Still, nice drink. 7/10. Neighborly Bloody Mary - Garlic + peppercorn vodka = genius move. Bloody was flavorful, not just spicy-for-the-sake-of-it. 7/10, but next time I'll ask for a kick. Food: Brunch Bread Basket - If you're not ordering this, you're doing brunch wrong. Those biscuits are actual perfection. Buttery, flaky, golden-brown divas. Even my Southern grandma would weep. Hands down, the best biscuits I've ever had in the valley. Cornbread's no slouch either--jalapeño flavor actually shows up. 12/10. Do not skip. BLT&E - Half a pig's worth of bacon, egg, and lettuce on thick country bread. Simple, but solid. Big enough to split. 8/10. Sides - Andouille sausage? Spicy, delicious, would order again. The hashbrowns, though... yikes. We asked for extra extra crispy and got "lightly steamed with commitment issues." Soggy, cold, sent 'em back. No notes--just no. Side note: They sent a gift card as a thank you for our last review (very kind, very neighborly), but this review is still all facts, I call it like I eat it. TL;DR: The Neighborly still crushes brunch. Stellar service, killer biscuits, drinks that mostly slap. Everything was delicious Abigail was amazing, why a 4 and not a 5 star well portions. Happy hour is all about enjoying a deal at that in between time frame of work to dinner. Unfortunately they have decided to give you a small deal but cut all the portions in half. If I would have known this i probably would have paid more attention to what the full size price was cus we would have felt as though we had a more filling time. Great place for family or friends! I'd definitely recommend making a reservation 4-5 days out. My friend and I went on a Friday and if we didn't have a reservation we would've never been able to try this place. Overall the service was really good, as soon as I sat down I was immediately greeted which I LOVED. the only thing I was a tad disappointed in is that they introduced a new menu. This was my first time trying this place so based on previous reviews I was excited to try those meals, but the new menu seemed to get rid of a lot of it. So instead I got the BBQ rotisserie chicken with onion rings. It was good! No complaints but from the previous reviews it does seem like the old menu was better. I'd still go to this place again! This was my first time in with a friend. The restaurant has a great vibe. Our tab was just over $100. The food was delicious but the service was disappointedly marginal. We arrived past our reservation time and it felt like the hostess went out of her way to let us know. She could see that we had had a reservation and there were plenty of open tables. It was like she had to make a point. She could have just been gracious and seated us. Once seated a gentleman came over and took our drink order. Then we waited, and waited. We tried to get his attention and he never came back to check on us. Another gentleman arrives at our table and introduces himself as our waiter. Apparently the first gentlemen is a beverage server. Not every restaurant has a beverage server so it would have been nice to have him share that with us and let us know our server would be right with us. Our server was friendly and attentive.
