Today I tried the Red Curry with chicken as the protein. It had bamboo shoots, peppers, mushrooms and thai basil. I ordered it medium spicy and that was perfect for me. There was a nice amount of chicken, quite a bit of the bamboo shoots but a really small amount of peppers and there were almost no mushrooms. This was a big disappointment as I was expecting a dish with enough vegetables to complement the chicken and sauce. The chicken was cooked nicely and the curry sauce was delicious. I had been on the go all day traveling from Milwaukee to Syracuse, checked into my hotel, and needed dinner while catching up on work in my room. Enter Thai Love NY. Thankfully, this gem of a spot allows pickup orders right through the Yelp app. I ordered pad thai with tofu for the protein as well as an order of their fresh summer rolls. The summer rolls alone could have been a whole meal. Fresh and fabulous with both a peanut and a sweet and sour style dipping sauce--they were an absolute delight. I didn't have a big appetite, but what I was really craving was some green curry and I was so happy to see that it was on the menu. Just when I thought Thai cuisine couldn't get any better...it just did! I've driven past Thai Love NY multiple times but have never had the chance to actually stop in and check them out. Today, I did, and I can kick myself for taking so long to do so. The restaurant is very cozy & welcoming. The customer service was absolutely wonderful!! There are plenty of menu options to choose from ranging from mild to hot, savory to sweet. I was simply blown away by the amazing savory and sweet flavor profiles that graced our table. We ordered a few different menu items because we found it impossible to just order one item each. My favorite was their Thai fried rice, which didn't make it to the photo stage. I took one bite, and the rest was history. To say these dishes were just good would be a huge understatement. They were phenomenal! Serving sizes here are HUGE and are definitely sharable if you're dining with family or friends and looking to try a few different dishes (this is the route we took). I really like Thai Love NY. It's my go-to Thai in the Syracuse area. Specifically the Kaw Soi soup is heavenly, a combo of sweet of coconut and yellow curry broth, veggies, and crunchy noodles. It's complex and deeply comforting, and reminds of a similar Burmese dish. The Pad Thai here is fine, though I think the Pad Mee Korat is better- more savory. I like to order mine with extra lime. I would also recommend the fried tofu, or the chicken wings. On spicy heat level their medium is predictable enough to wake me up but not make me sweat. Inside the restaurant it's relaxed and intimate, though you will most likely hear a steady stream of take out orders if you go in the evening. We stopped here after going shopping at destiny, USA. We ordered a Thai curry that was supposed to be medium hot and it was way too hot for my daughter to eat it for myself. Came here for lunch with a coworker last week. There were other tables but they weren't overcrowded. Service was top notch. So many amazing things on the menu. I went light with summer rolls and a papaya salad. Portions are MASSIVE. The summer rolls were so fresh, and the peanut dipping sauce was warm and absolutely amazing. We had two orders, but they are so big that we both only ate half (and took the remainder home) so you could easily be satiated with one order for two people. TL;DR: Highly recommended. Excellent food and good ambiance. ***Ambiance*** The ambiance at this place is absolutely delightful. It has a calm and welcoming atmosphere. The dining space was neat and clean. The furniture looked well-maintained, and the tables were well-separated (see pics). ***Staff and service*** The check-in staff was friendly and courteous. We had a reservation and were promptly seated in a nice semi-private nook. We had to wait a while for our server to arrive and take our lunch order. However, I was not surprised and was anticipating the service to be slow. One of the cool things about this place is that their website mentioned that they are short-staffed (see pic), and service might be slow. I really appreciated the thoughtfulness. I had already prepared my tablemates about this, and it was not a big deal. It is easier to wait when you know you have to wait. Our server was very friendly and attentive. I could tell that she was juggling multiple tables, but that did not impact her quality of service or attention to detail. Kudos to her! ***Drinks*** They have a small but workable drinks menu. One of each kind of deal. Craft beer lovers would be disappointed. We all stayed with water. ***Food*** The food was excellent. For appetizers, we ordered Fried Calamari and Fried Shrimp (pic attached), and both were very good. Served hot and crispy. I think that crispiness is super important in fried calamari. If it is not served crispy, then it might feel very chewy. In this place, they did it properly, and the calamari dish was excellent. The tom yum soup was also very good. Served hot, it was not overly sour and maintained a nice balance of flavors. For entrées, we got Red Curry, Green Curry Fried Rice, and Pad Thai (pic attached). I love spicy food, and I ordered spicy level 4 (5 being the hottest), and I loved that spice level. The Pad Thai at this restaurant is absolutely delicious! The combination of flavors is perfect, with a balance of sweet, tangy, and savory. The noodles were cooked perfectly, and the presence of the right spice level made it even more delightful. It is one of the best pad thais that I had in my recent recollection. We gotten take out from Thai Love NY right before they closed on Saturday night. I placed the order online and it was quick and easy to do. My bf did the actual pick up of the food while I waited in the parking lot. The food was done when we got there and he said that the staff is very sweet, even offering to help bring the food out to the car because we ordered quite a bit for one person to hold. He declined the assistance but it was much appreciated. Appetizer: Thai Chicken Wings (Garlic marinated Thai-style chicken served with Sweet Thai Chili Sauce My family did not really like the wings and ended up ordering wings from Buffalo Wild Wings instead that same night. Not bad just not what we expected and not as tasty as we have had from from other Thai places. Entrees: Massaman Curry (Massaman curry with potatoes, white onions, and nuts, in coconut milk) Kaw soi (Yellow curry broth with steamed egg noodles, baby bok choy, napa, bean sprouts, topped with crispy egg noodle, diced fresh peppers, red onions, green onions, and cilantro sprinkled with fried red onions and crispy garlic) Pad thai (thin rice noodles stir-fried in Thai tamarind sauce with eggs, bean sprouts, chives, a lime wedge, and crushed peanuts - I ordered without bean sprouts and chives) The Massaman curry and Kaw soi were both good and pretty standard in comparison to other places. I would not recommend the pad Thai if you're taking it for takeout. The noodles got hard and stuck together in the shape of the container. Pad Thai reacts like that when taken to go at a lot of places so I don't really fault them for that but it was pretty bland as well so I would skip it next time. Drinks/Dessert: 2 Thai Iced Teas and 1 Raspberry Milk Tea Mango sticky rice The Thai iced teas were good, tasty and exactly what we wanted. The Raspberry Milk Tea was not a hit for anyone. We couldn't get anyone in my family to actually drink the raspberry one after having a sip. It reminds of the pink Amoxicillin liquid that we drank as kids. Never again! But the Mango sticky rice was amazing! Probably one of the best we ever had, I'd go back just for that. We almost did the next day just for the sticky rice but they are not open for Sunday lunch.
