Best Thai food in town to me! Clean Restaurant. Friendly staff and the food is excellent!

Love this restaurant! I'm a huge Thai food fan and I think this is one of the most authentic Thai restaurants in Dallas!

For me, this is the best Thai restaurant in Dallas. I've been going here for a couple of years now, and their food is consistently good. The Pad Kee Mow and the Red/Panang curries are always on-point. It's BYOB too. The staff there are fun and sassy :) Honestly what's not to love! read more

Some neighbors invited us to dinner last minute to Thai Opal and lucky us. Yes, it is in the same space as Ginger Thai Express but the new owner did a complete make over on the inside and menu. First night, I had the Pad See Ew with chicken and tofu and it was the perfect blend of sweet and spicy. We enjoyed our first experience so much that we actually took a different neighbor the very next night..... Second night, I had Massaman curry with beef and it was Deeeelicious!!!!! Come to found out after the first evening, that the owner was the one taking care of us and was very quick to provide great advice on what to order on the menu. Thrilled to have such a delicious Thai option so close to the neighborhood and for now, BYOB and the Fiesta close buy has a decent selection of wine or beer. read more

We called and made a reservation and the staff thanked us over and over for calling ahead. We were seated immediately and quickly received drink service and complimentary crab rangoons, which were out of this word. It did take a bit for the staff to take our order but when they did the food was out quickly. The Pad Thai, Spicy Basil Beef noodles and the Tom Khi Gai soup were all delicious. All reasonably priced and portions were not huge which we liked. Will go back for sure! Be aware they are obtaining their liquor license and so at this point it's BYOB. read more

From the moment you set foot in the restaurant the staff takes great care of you. I love the elegant and relaxing ambiance. You are surrounded by candlelight and cushy pillows! We were also treated to hot towels before our meal, first class! My husband ordered the duck curry (AMAZING). I've never been a fan of curry but I could not stop eating from his plate! I ordered the sweet and sour chicken (YUM)! I had the best experience eating here and I wish I could eat here everyday! It was the little attention to detail that made this little Thai place special. Great food, but I recommend take-out only. The service is terrible and last time we ate there, a panhandler came in asking for money! None of the staff kicked him out, because I think they were too busy trying to keep up with cooking food and waiting on 6 tables. The guy finally left, but it weirded out everyone in the restaurant. Their food is really good, so we're not done with the place, but from now on TAKE-OUT only. No more dining in. read more

Maybe i had them on a bad night, but two stars is GENEROUS! I ordered Pad Thai takeout. When I opened the box the noodles were sticky and dry. Think clumped together pasta noodles. Picked up my to-go order of Pad Thai - spicy. (that part was very easy through their web site) It looked like Pad Thai, it had all the ingredients of Pad Thai - but it didn't remotely taste like Pad Thai. I just threw the entire order away. I tried several bites. Good presentation - but there is something very unusual about the taste. It wasn't pleasant in any way. Even with extra lime and mixing it a few times. This was a great find in Dallas near SMU. Probably the best Thai food I've had in years. The Tom Ka soup was rich and spicy. Both the Panang curry and spicy basil chicken noodle were amazing. Not the best Thai food I have ever had but definitely very good. I would definitely recommend Thai Opal but don't expect to be blown away. It's just good Thai food. The price is right and it is very conveniently located. Give them a try if you are looking for casual Thai food. My only complaint is that the lettuce wasn't very green for the larb lettuce wraps, but I definitely ate them all anyway and enjoyed it! Sorry I was too hungry to take pics. read more

I stumbled on to this restaurant after the nearby Mexican place turned out to be closed and am so glad I did! I have eaten Pad Thai all over the country and hadn't found a place in Dallas that filled the bill...until now. I ordered it here for lunch, and it was fantastic! I ordered with tofu, which was nice and firm, not mushy. The tamarind sauce was divine, not too sweet. The meal tasted very fresh, not warmed over. They served extra condiments on the side in dishes, as should be done. The portion size, even for lunch, was very large (another gripe I have with some Thai restaurants), and I had a choice of soup, salad, or egg roll, as well as a drink thrown in. Price was very reasonable. They have dine-in, including two tables outside in front. The weather today was perfect, so I sat outside and enjoyed my lunch thoroughly. They have a post-COVID tent set up for curbside pickup, which blocks the view of the entrance somewhat, so you have to look for it. read more

Thai Opal is an excellent Thai restaurant in the Dallas area. My friends and I split 4 main dishes and a couple appetizers. My two favorites were a curry chicken dish and the chicken wings. The waiter was nice and I would recommend this place and you're in the mood for Thai. read more

I ordered to go for dinner for my mother and I. I ordered the glass noodles and she wanted Pad Thai. We order via the yelp app. I LOVED the glass noodles, it had the perfect amount of protein and vegetables. My mom is very particular about how chicken is cooked in her pad Thai and she seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed it. I am going to go back and try more of the menu. read more

My spouse and I were looking for a good place to eat in Dallas on a recent trip and came across this gem. It was fantastic! We were treated very well by the waitress and overall the service was very good. We ordered the crab rangoons which were delicious and the Penang curry which was also very good. Quiet, with nice ambiance, and absolutely delicious food. Fresh ingredients carefully prepared makes all the difference.

Really surprisingly good, a notch above the usual, and reasonable prices. They seem to try to make it elegant, which is mostly ok, except for the guy spreading the napkin in your lap. And the hot towels have a weird smell, might be better scentless and just warm. read more

We order take-out here and usually get the spicy basil glass noodles, duck curry, or spicy basil eggplant. It is delicious! They have always gotten our order right, and we've never had to wait. I really should try dining in at some point as the restaurant looks very romantic and the waiters/waitresses seem attentive. read more

Delicious delivery. I was visiting my bff and since I was working from "home" and she didn't have NO TYPE FOOD in the house, I decided to order. I love Thai food and wasn't disappointed. The veggie panang curry and papaya salad were on point. Delivery was fast and easy through Eat 24. My only complaint is that my $24.99 order wasn't rounded up to meet the $25 minimum . Anyway, this trip is one of what I'm sure will be several Dallas visits and Thai Opal is on the eat list...along with pretty much any place that sells ribs . Getchu some. read more

This is a revision of a one-star review because I can't slam the restaurant over the behavior of contractors. Apparently the restaurant has had a difficult time with some delivery drivers parking in the handicap area. My wife, who is horribly handicapped from a stroke, couldn't get into the car and one of them actually *argued* with me until I threatened to go interrupt a police officer who was eating dinner. Then he moved. The management apparently took action and Dallas Police is monitoring the situation. Food is actually quite good. Best Thai we've had and we eat Thai alot. read more

I'm writing this review based on take out so maybe it's better when you dine in. I wanted to try this based on the yelp reviews but I was disappointed in my meal. I ordered the spring rolls, pad Thai and Thai opal fried rice. I guess I was confused that the chicken in the Thai opal fried rice was fried and not mixed into the fried rice. It lacked flavor. I had to add soy sauce and hot sauce to the rice. The spring rolls were crispy so that was fine. The pad Thai was disappointing. This might have been the worst pad Thai I've had. It was lacking any sauce, the noodles were completely stuck together, and not much flavor depth. I gave it two stars because the food came in a timely manner (faster than the estimated time) and the driver was very nice. read more

UPDATE, I've ordered several times since my last review. Their food is pretty authentic and amazingly delicious. Yellow Curry Tofu and Spicy Basil Noodles with Egg and Vegetables are what we usually order. The food is consistent and flavorful. I'll continue to support them and dine from this establishment! I ordered at around 8:30PM and I gotta admit I am a fan. The food is prepared very good and you can tell they take their time but I had to wait almost 24 minutes for my order to be taken. We had the red chicken curry which was amazing and the place is kinda cool I gotta admit. I would give it 5 stars if the wait had not been so long. read more

This place was very interesting. I really liked the mood/setting and the customer service was excellent. I got edamame, vegetable spring rolls, and pad se ew. Great food! Try Curry Roasted Duck. Very tasty and juicy. The owner is so nice and service is very welcoming.

The food is authentic, and freshly hand made, and with a lovely presentation each time. The atmosphere is lovely, and it's quiet enough to talk and visit. We are encouraged to stay; not to rush, and enjoy the delightful meals at our own pace. The spring rolls, Crab Rangun, and Pad Woo Sen were all super good! Easy parking off NW Hwy at Matilda. I drive by this restaurant everyday on the way to work...I wash my laundry next door.....this place calls to me..."Eat here...Yummy Thai food...eat here..eat here..". Ok, so I succumbed to the craving for Thai and tried it. I was very impressed. It's pretty well hidden off the road (esp in my case travelling North bound), but it seems to have a great following. When I got there, they were short handed...only the manager was working. I find out later she suspended an employee for not taking car of the customers properly...as evidenced by her handling of the dinner rush..SINGLE HANDEDLY..she wants her customers taken care of well!! She was lightening fast going from table to table, and handling the phones, and handling take out. She never lost her cool, was so funny and cute with all the customers...you'd never know they were short handed. She had 3 parties of 4 or more, and a 6 top, along with lil ole me...and she didn't miss a beat. Service goes a LONG way in my book. I ordered the Thai Basil Fried Rice, and it was pretty yummy. I appreciated her asking how spicy I wanted it; I'm a bit of a wimp on that front. I wasn't crazy about the portion/price ratio though. That's my only reason for knocking off a star. It's not a big gripe, but I was still hungry after I finished...There were other really good looking dishes on the menu, so I'll have to try some more..when it calls to me again!! read more

Great new discovery at Skillman and Abrams. Small place in the strip shopping center behind Mariano's Hacienda. Excellent Thai food. We had the Panang Curry and Pad Woon Sen. Just the right amount of spicyness requested and the three chili sauces they brought to the table were hot, hot, hot! Service was helpful and friendly. Nice sized portions. Enough to share and instead of community rice, they served individual portions, which I thought was a nice touch. BYOB and no corkage fee. Going back this week to introduce to other friends. read more
