In our travels we spent the night in Orangeburg, SC. Downpours of rain when we arrived but we didn't eat all day and was very hungry. They didn't have a lot of restaurants open but Thai Orchid was. Decided to try them out. Walked in (only customers there) but seated at a nice table. We ordered a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, after bringing our wine our server took our order. I ordered gyoza and Thai garlic chicken wings, my husband ordered chicken drunken noodles. My garlic wings were so so good!! My husband loved his drunken noodles and tried a wing of mine and loved it! We were on the interstate looking at Yelp for recommendations. Do not judge a book by its cover! The service was five star, Robert was genuine, incredibly helpful, helped us make selections off the menu. Our service was fast as the food came before we even realized we had ordered it. If you are searching for true Thai cuisine, that is authentic and incredibly flavorful, You must try this place. It's true and some of the other reviews have said it, the outside leaves nothing to be desired and the inside could even use a little help. However, do not drive by. Solid 4.5 Stars here - Don't judge this place by its cover... the food is outstanding. This was our third visit to Thai Orchid over the last few years while we are visiting the area, and the food has never disappointed. I'll be honest...the exterior looks a bit rundown, and the interior (including the bathrooms) could definitely use some cleaning and updating. But when we go out to eat, it's about the food first, and this place delivers where it matters most. We started with the veggie spring rolls, which I'd rate about a 7.5/10, good, but not the highlight (you can only do so much with veggie spring rolls lol). For our entrees, we ordered the drunken noodles with tofu (partner is vegetarian) and I had the pineapple duck curry (it cane with a small salad). The drunken noodles were excellent--9/10, with great flavor and balance. The pineapple duck curry was a standout 10/10 for me, rich, flavorful, crispy duck skin and absolutely worth coming back for. We arrived just after 5 PM on a Saturday and were the first ones there. We were seated immediately, and the service was very good throughout. The menu is huge, with plenty of options, and prices are reasonable for a specialty Thai/Asian restaurant in Orangeburg. We ordered both dishes at a mild spice level, and they came out perfect, just enough heat without being overpowering. Bottom line: the building could use some love, but don't let that stop you. The real treat here is what comes out of the kitchen. If you're in Orangeburg and craving Thai food, give Thai Orchid a try, you'll likely be pleasantly surprised by the quality. read more

This is my second review of this restaurant. I don't live in Orangeburg but we like to eat here when we visit. Again, building not great looking outside but it's fine on the inside. The servers are experts and the menu is fairly large. Sushi is very good. We always enjoy our meals here. read more

I don't know how this place is even in business. It looks like a dump on the outside, which would have been reason enough to leave, but I decided to step inside for a look. There was a roach crawling on the back of a chair. I left after telling the young man there was a roach on the chair. I just want to throw this in because it seemed odd to me. This was a quick decision for dinner with my love. I am so happy that he suggested this place. The setting is really cozy and the tables have amazing art work inside. I thought that was such a beautiful touch. This can totally be a spot for date night or a night out with friends. The staff was extremely nice and checked on our table more than enough. The food was absolutely amazing. I ordered the Thai sweet chili wings and my goodness, the skin was sooooo crispy. The sauce was some of the best sauce I have had on wings. Haven't been to Orangeburg since before the pandemic. Came into town for a convention. Let's just say Orangeburg has stepped it's game up and they have so much more than before. It was a miserable rainy night and we yelped to see what was around to eat besides the chain restaurants. Thai Orchid came up and had nice reviews. The restaurant decor is close to what you'd have in Thailand (I've been so I know). Food was authentic. My husband ordered Pad Thai and he loved it. I had noodle soup (because of the weather) it was just what the doctor ordered!!! Seasoned and spicey to order!!! Can't wait until the next convention. We will be back for sure!!! Great restaurant! I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious Thai food in Orangeburg. The Pad Thai is some of the best I've ever had. I ordered takeout and it was ready within 15 minutes. I bought a ton of food for leftovers. The Drunken Noodles were very good as well, although they're best eaten immediately as they kinda congealed when I ate them the next day. The Massaman Curry was decent as well. Will be eating here every time I'm in Orangeburg. They're also on DoorDash. read more

Went there with three others on 12/4/2021 at 5:00PM. At the time there were 6 other people in the restaurant. All four of us at the table ordered an appetizer and an entree. The first appetizer arrived an hour later; the last appetizer arrived a half hour after that - yep, all four appetizers came out one at a time; at different times. First of all, it was so hot in this restaurant. The thermostat was set at 79. It took forever to get our food, it was terrible except for the sushi, it was ok. The service was terrible. The waitress checked on us after we were done. Our kids ordered bubble tea and we were waiting so we went and asked, she forgot, so we had been sitting waiting for boba tea that she wasn't even making. It wasn't crowded at all, just a few tables. My dish was so bad that I just left it. This restaurant was a $167+ dollar mistake, because when my kids finally got their boba tea she said y'all didn't pay for them....another almost $20. This gem is incredible! The food is hands down the best Thai I've tasted in a long time. They are short staffed but they make up for it with their prices. Thai food is my favorite cuisine and I eat A LOT of it, so all these five star and outstanding reviews for this place had me excited to go! I mean there were a plethora of comments I read stating it was the best Thai food they ever had!! I ordered to go and was disappointed. Portions are extremely small compared to literally every other Thai establishment I've been to and the taste of the food was extremely underwhelming. Much to my surprise the food here was truly excellent! My family stopped in for lunch on a long ride from Savannah, and were looking for a change from southern food. The Pad Thai was delicious as was the Chili Chicken. Great flavors and very authentic. We also appreciated the decor. All the tables and chairs are solid wood beautifully hand carved and imported from Thailand.
