We have many Thai restaurants in my area and I've eaten in or taken out from many. Thai Orchid has lasting power in the Addison area which, in itself, is a testament to it's quality. Service is good and the dishes are constantly great. I normally order from the noodles section and have a hard time not selecting the Pad See Ew but have tried the Red and Green curry as well. My wife rotates between Pineapple Fried Rice or Pad Thai and others that sometimes join us have ordered the Tom Yum or Tom Kha soups. I have not tried the deserts so no help there. They have a limited bar selection. read more

I try to balance my meals by eating vegetarian at least one meal a day, and Thai Orchid has some tasty vegetarian dishes. My favorite is the broccoli delight. I have no idea what's in the brown sauce, but it makes the meal! Not all restaurants have consistent great service, and that's what this one does well. Having dined here a little over two weeks ago, I feel the need to review this restaurant. I knew there were going to be issues when we pulled up on a Friday evening at 7:30, and there were no cars out front. Mind you, this is Addison, and what I would expect to be a popular night to dine out, especially after a long week. We had to wait for a third that was dining with us, and the waiter seemed to be aggressive in asking if we wanted drinks and appetizers, We told him water is fine and that we were waiting on a third guest to arrive. Our third guest arrives, and the waiter again asks what drinks and appetizers we wanted, so we ordered the edamame. We then ordered our entrees, and I specifically asked for no bean sprouts on my chicken Pad Thai (yuck!), and I asked for extra peanuts instead. Our edamame arrives, and was pretty bland with no seasoning whatsoever (not even salt). Our entrees arrive, and my Pad Thai arrives with extra bean sprouts, and no peanut, the complete opposite of what I requested. Not that difficult, or so I thought. I politely advised the waiter that I chose no bean sprouts and extra peanuts. He verbally complained, like it was my fault he couldn't follow instructions, and he then offered to have the entree remade, which they did. The restaurant was basically empty, and had what seemed to be doctor's office soft jazz music playing quite loudly, detracting from the whole experience. My husband ordered dinner to go from Thai Orchid one night, so that we could have an easier time that evening with our newborn. Well, he ended up waiting so long for the food that I got annoyed with him for coming home late. Not only that, he said that he followed instructions for pickup orders but he got yelled at for not waiting to be seated. They definitely need to work on their service. Food-wise, we got papaya salad and drunken noodles. The papaya salad was good, although I found the amount skimpier than at other restaurants. The drunken noodles were ok. Do not order anything over medium spice level unless you have two cans of coconut milk on hand. All kidding aside, it's a beautiful restaurant on the inside, lots of space, and even had live traditional music. The Panang curry was excellent, at mild. We also had a rich and delicious pad Thai I would get every day if I could. Might be one of the best ones in Dallas, need more samples to be sure. But it's on the list of top 3. read more

The food here was okay in my opinion. I got the pad Thai and it was VERY sweet and not as peanut flavored as I hoped. I also got a level 2 spice but it wasn't spicy at all but they had chili oil that I added to give it a kick. They did have a lunch special which was nice! Service was good and helpful. Addison has so many great restaurants and we looked for something different while stopping in to visit our son who lives there. The reviews were great for Thai Orchid so we visited them around 8pm on a Monday night. The inside is beautiful! It takes you to the orient with the decor and ambience. It's well decorated and the service was outstanding too! We were greeted by Ysa a very sweet young lady. She was also our server. I can't say enough how about how polite, friendly and helpful she was to us through the entire dinner. So we opted for the Tom Ka soup and crab rangoon as an appetizer. We both love Tom Ka soup and feel that we know what to expect. Their version was without doubt the best Tom Ka soup I've ever tasted. It came out piping hot (extra points) and the flavors were amazing! We also loved the Rangoon and the crunch was spot on. My wife decided to try the yellow curry and I ordered Pad Woon Sen with seafood. She loved the yellow curry! I tried a sample and it was remarkable. Once again their food comes out piping hot which is always a great indicator of being freshly prepared. It stayed hot the entire meal too. My Pad Woon Sen was awesome! I went on 5/19 alone for diner, the food was good, I like it! The service was fine at the beginning but I finished eating, since the entree was a little spicy for me, I asked for a second beer and two more entrees to go and when I was about half my beer and waiting for the to go entrees, the waiter came and asked me to pay, I found that strange because the restaurant was practically empty, only three table iand 6 persons in total, but I did not did it much importance and pay including a 20% tip, the to go entrees came, I continued finishing my beer and the waiter came and asked me if I wanted to move to the bar!!. Thai Orchid hit all the marks for me-easy to access location, intriguing atmosphere, great food and good service. It was all there. I found myself walking in after a full day of work and hungry for something to satisfy the growling belly. I was at one of only two tables occupied in the place. Decided to try this Thai place while in the area, as I was craving some Thai food and found out it had been around for quite a while. I ordered my usual favorites: Vietnamese spring rolls (summer rolls with shrimp) and chicken fried rice. While everything tasted good overall, the chicken was a bit of a letdown (as always). It lacked flavor and seemed like it was just boiled and added on top of the fried rice. I've been coming here for 15 years, and my wife, who passed away recently, just adored the green chili curry with the eggplant at all it was delicious, I have a tendency to get the Pad Kee Mao each of us was a different heat level! The corn cakes are wonderful as well as the spring and summer rolls! Pretty much whatever you order off of this menu it's gonna be very tasty! We've known the owners for years as always been consistent! Heat levels vary, BTW, because each pepper has its own heat level and no one can predict how hot it's going to be, I grow my own and even I don't know by just looking at them who's gonna be the hottest on a particular plant and I have five different hot pepper plants! It's a very relaxing restaurant with a great atmosphere. The ambience is nice and clean. Went to this restaurant last Friday 05/02 after a 4 plus hours drive from Corpus. The service was great, very welcoming staff, with great answers to questions about the menu. I settled on the fried rice with a curry influence, based on recommendation from my server. It was excellent. The restaurant is well laid out. I arrived at about 6 PM and was immediately seated. The portion and ingredients are very mediocre for the price tag. Exactly $10 for 10 tiny calamari pieces that are 2 inches each. What?! This is smaller than a McDonalds happy meal. The curry duck was $20 and all there was were a few pieces of canned pineapple, bell pepper, and duck skins. There was barely any meat. I don't know what I paid for. Air? Came in and ordered to go, the place was a bit empty at the time, but I think that was just due to timing, as it was late in the day, in between lunch and early evening. The staff was super friendly, chatted with the owner while I was waiting on my order. Ordered the panang curry which was the perfect level of spice. My only complaint was the rice, I never understand why they give you so much curry at Thai and Chinese restaurants but the rice is always so little. I have told everyone about this spot and I'm so mad that it's been a hidden gem this entire time I have lived in Addison. Atmosphere was great and they have live music every 3rd Friday I believe. Thai Orchid really came through for us when we needed a late-night dining option! We decided to give it a try on a whim, and we were so glad we did--it exceeded our expectations. As a huge fan of red curry, I had to order it with potatoes added and a level 4 spice (they recently changed the spice levels from 1-5 to mild, spicy, Thai spicy, or something similar). The curry came out in these beautiful leaf-shaped decorative bowls and was a perfect portion size to leave you feeling satisfied, although maybe not quite enough to take home leftovers. The staff at Thai Orchid are incredibly sweet and helpful, although I wish I had gotten their names for a shoutout! They were attentive and made the dining experience even more enjoyable. The decor is standard for a Thai spot imo. There are good options for vegans, which is a big plus for me. I find myself eating here almost weekly now--it's become a favorite spot of mine. One thing to note is that the location is a bit hidden, so if you're not familiar with the area, you might miss it. But trust me, it's worth seeking out!
