A friend recommended Nate's knowing how much I love seafood. So, we decided to eat there Sunday afternoon for lunch. It was a delicious and very satisfying experience. Our waiter ( guy with braids) was extremely helpful, friendly, and informative. ) I wanted a kir royale ( they couldn't make because they didn't have chambord). However, he and manager came to the table to offer options. I tried a French 76. We ordered calamari which was light, crisp, and fresh. It was delicious and prepared perfectly. I ordered the stuffed flounder ( substituted red fish for flounder) with the Ponchatrain sauce ( shrimp and crabmeat in creamy sauce) which was delicious. I kept the potatoes with peppers ( prepared beautifully ) however, I will try another potato dish that I don't think will compete or overpower the fish. The fish was hot, flaky, light and delicious. They also serve a dish of garlicky, buttery dish of bread and hush puppies as an appetizer.Loved the bread dish. The service, food, ambience are well worth the drive. One of my many stops for crawfish this year. Overall it was decent but not the best I've had. I got the spiciest not realizing that just meant it would be covered in the dry spice. I never like when places do that to crawfish because it doesn't actually add any flavor. Other complaint was didn't like how the sausage was cut just seemed weird. Our first time here and it wasn't what we were expecting. Kind of divey, unassuming yet funky! I'll have to try their other dishes another time. We saw a lot of people ordering the seafood boils and went with that. Got the crab combo and came with some snow crabs, crawfish, Dungeness crabs and oysters with a side of grilled veggies. For spice level we went with turbo, and their desi Bon temp sauce. Food was great. I love how big the crabs were. I did not eat the crawfish only cause I don't care for them. My bf enjoyed them though. I do think service was a little lacking but very friendly so not a big deal. It's been years since I've been to Nate's. Went with some co workers. It was about 10 people. When I first got there it was pretty packed but the good thing is there is valet. Our reservation was at 6. We were seated right on time at a big table in the back. I will say for all of us we only had one waitress but she did really good with our orders. We had several appetizers like onion rings and hush puppies to start with. For my meal I had several options that I was torn between so I asked the waitress opinion. Out of my choices she suggested the creole seafood pasta but with the sauce from another pasta. It was a great recommendation. It was so good I cleaned my plate. read more

This place is very busy so be prepared to wait a bit. The parking lot itself fills up so get there early if you'd like to avoid having to valet. After we were seated, we got the gator nuggets. They were good, not very fishy and had a good texture. We didn't get any silverware or little plates and it was busy so we ended up eating it with our hands. We also ordered drinks which took a long time to get to us. I ordered a cup of seafood and the crabmeat and shrimp etouffe. I expected the cup of gumbo to be an appetizer but it got there after my entree, which kind of threw off the meal a bit. I liked the taste of the etouffe and the amount was a generous portion. One thing I didn't like was that it had crab shells in it so I kept having to pick them out as I ate. My husband got the chicken po boy and he said he thought the gator had been seasoned more than the po boy. I finished my meal with the gumbo and I didn't much like the taste. We stopped in as a party of 2 yesterday (Valentines) and wait was quoted about an hour and got seated in about 45min. Our server was attentive and nice. Came here with my mom and brother before doing our Father's Day remembrance thing for my thing since my father is no longer with us. When we came in, my mom said that this is exactly the thing he would like. They were playing the right music and they had different decor my Dad would have liked-- everything else BESIDES the food was a miss. I took my kid for dinner and while the food was really good, the service and overall vibe was just bad. It seemed to be understaffed which made the service slow. To start, I stood at the hostess desk for over 5 minutes. Waiters passed and never acknowledged. When the hostess finally addressed us, she told us the tables by the bar is a seat yourself area. A sign saying so would prevent confusion. I ordered an appetizer and was looking forward to really connecting with my kid but the app and food came all together. Went here for the first time and the overall experience was not good. I ordered over the phone with what sounded like an old lady. She was rude and unfriendly. Being a first time I was asking her different questions and one of them if they mix any alcohol in the batter of a catfish like some other seafood restaurants does. So I stopped into Nate's seafood today to try their crawfish. Being from Louisiana they hit a lot of big marks for me! Loved that they do it the traditional way! They were dry seasoned not long soaked. Not the worst thing in the world but definitely really salty! Definitely loved that you can add mushrooms!! Not a lot of places have that option! The thing that got me the most was the price for quality. They were on the menu as "market price" however they were definitely the highest priced that I have paid out of the 4 places I have gone to in DFW just this season. (11.99/lb.) Unfortunately for the price their were a lot of teeny tiny ones, lost of medium compared to other places being priced at 7.99 for way bigger crawfish. I rather take the extra $3 a pound I paid and put it in the gas tank for a trip to bourbon street b&g in Euless! Service was superb though. The salad was weird, the blue cheese dressing was super watery and the salad was just spinach, no other toppings, not good. LOVE IT here! I'm a sucker for a quaint dive bar, and this place certainly delivered. The bar and the servers have a lot of personality. The menu is massive!!! so much that it was difficult to pick but I have no regrets about my selections. This is a hidden gem - for sure! The restaurant is filled with trinkets and pictures plastered all over the wall. They've got plenty of TVs so can easily be a great sports bar as well. I'm from Baton Rouge, Louisiana and the Cajun food here is no good. The complimentary bread sticks and hushpuppies were good. It goes downhill from there. The fried catfish nuggets were bland. The seafood gumbo was disgusting. The roux was burnt to hell. My table got 3 cups of gumbo, and only 1 cup tasted good (the rest had burnt roux). I don't understand why the cook doesn't taste his gumbo to make sure it tastes edible. I got a seafood platter. The fried catfish was ok. The crab cake was good, but a little bland. It did taste homemade at least. The fried oyster was nasty and the breading was bland and falling apart. The jambalaya was very tomato-y (I guess it's creole and not Cajun jambalaya). Food was decent no where near what it used to be. Service on the other hand is a different story. Our server Breann was awful. She had no personality whatsoever and never once was nice. We didn't even get the seafood gumbo that we ordered at the same time as a salad, which did come out. We also asked for an extra side of turbo seasoning, a second pair of crab crackers, and the hush puppies which we never received. Pretty good seafood boil! The taste of the gator was good but it was some of the chewiest I've had. I enjoyed the redfish, it was seasoned well and the blackened shrimp that came on top were delicious! My boyfriend didn't like the seafood pasta, the sauce was kinda heavy on the tomato and not what we were expecting. We got a great deal for our party of two. I was craving a seafood boil, we ordered the Crab Combo with additional shrimp. The half pound orders always leaving you wanting more so the additional shrimp was a bonus. They did provide an additional amount of sausage. The only downside is our mix choice of adding the rub and the dipping sauce. It was extremely salty and so hard to eat with an already spiced sausage. The turbo heat was super good but as mentioned the overwhelming amount of spice took away from the meal entirely. The starter bread is not bad just don't hold off on eating it since its drenched in butter, once cold it tastes bad and mushy. I would return, great service and atmosphere. I just hope the consistency of a good meal outweighs the bad days. Seafood boils are not cheap and need to made good every time. read more
